- The tension between Ottawa and Alberta is rising. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently attacked Premier Danielle Smith’s plans to restrict children from medically transitioning genders. This, after his environment minister demanded the province curb its oil industry and overhaul its gas-dependent power grid. Smith joins Brian Lilley this week, and says that while she would prefer to collaborate with Trudeau, she’ll fight if necessary. Smith also tells Lilley why she thinks Trudeau has already begun campaigning for the next election by beating up on Alberta. In that case, she says to him, “let’s just do it” - challenging Trudeau to call an election where she says Canadians can decide whether they prefer federal-provincial confrontation or co-operation. (Recorded Feb. 22, 2024.)

We are pretty fortunate here in Saskatchewan, Scott Moe is a very good premier, maybe not as good as Brad Wall was, but definitely one of the best premiers in Canada.
Manitoba took a step backwards and went NDP. BC is slowly waking up and Ontario has a good party in power, just a mediocre premier. Quebec is just Quebec, and the Maritime provinces I don’t pay much attention to, but given their past federal voting habits, probably need a lot of work to do.

We do need an election. I was in Quebec in Oct 2019 and there was a distinct dislike for Trudeau at that time. When it came to the election, Trudeau remained as the minority leader. As a Canadian, I believe the Block Québécois should not be allowed to be involved in Federal Elections as a party. They are a separatists party and should be considered as a party of treason. They are permitted to many seats and only run candidates in Quebec. This is not equal representation.

These were the numbers of people who wanted to separate in 2019. Imagine where we would be today.
Separation Surveys. Percentage of Western Provinces that Want to Separate from Canada:
- Alberta - 56%
- Saskatchewan - 53%
- British Columbia - 44%
- Manitoba - 35%
And these numbers do not include those people “sitting on the fence”. This does not mean they cannot change but these are die-hard separatists, as of now. This is a 5117 respondent survey and holds more weight than surveys done by marketing companies that Mainstream Media pays to interpret.
Also, these numbers are consistent with how the Prairies voted in the last election. They are also following the trend shown with a previous 7000 person survey from Angus & Reid in February, 2019 - prior to the last Canadian election.

As a taxpayer, I do not want to pay for gender surgeries. Not even for adults. They can pay out of their own pockets, just like they pay for cosmetic surgery out of their own pockets.

I can understand what you are saying based on a point of view which may be an uninformed position. However, if you were to take a little time to review the issues involved in the transitioning process, it may help you understand why this procedure is a covered medical procedure.

Listening to Smith speak is amazing, especially compared to Notley or even Kenney, but especially Notley, she was poison to the ears. Smith is smart, and well spoken, and driven. Best thing to happen to Alberta since Klein.
Ralph Klein was the worst thing to happen to this province. He lied to Albertans about the benefits of de-regulation when all we received were monopolies and oligopolies on essential services. Prices increased incrementally. He was environmentally retarded. Notley managed this province expertly during the worst of economic times in this province. Her good record is well documented. She could have walked on water and the dough-head conservative supporters in this province would have had a problem with it.
