TRIP REPORT | Surviving 15h in Economy Class! | Qatar Airways A350-1000 | San Francisco to Doha

- Qatar Airways Trip Report flying from San Francisco to Doha, one of the longest flights in the world, onboard one of the amazing Qatar Airways A350s, on a beautiful night and day all over the Atlantic, Europe, and Asia.
A comfortable flight from San Francisco to Doha onboard the Qatar Airways Airbus A350-1000. A crazy 14.000km flight that was much easier than I expected.
We started our trip at the International Terminal of San Francisco Airport. It was a quite nice afternoon, but by the moment we boarded the A350 the downpour was epic. Seeing from the plane all the ground staff working hard under those conditions was incredible.
We took off from San Francisco heading towards the Pacific Ocean. We quickly made a 90° right turn to fly in parallel to the USA's west coast. Although it was a cloudy day we managed to see the Golden Gate while climbing out from San Francisco. We continued northbound towards Canada, flying over the States of Oregon and Washington, before entering Canada. This was the first time I flew over the Canadian Rocky Mountains and I must say they are as spectacular as the US ones, maybe even more.
We then crossed all Canada from southwest to northeast, flying towards the frozen lands of northern Canada. I'd never seen that part of Canada without clouds. It was really amazing, everything was frozen, covered with ice and snow. From there we crossed the Baffin Bay towards Greenland. Once again, some of the best landscapes on Earth are here. And we found them!! The best part is that all these views came during the sweet light of the Midnight Sun.
We crossed Greenland and entered the Atlantic again, heading to Europe. The first we saw was Bergen, in Norway. We crossed the country towards the Northern Sea and flew over Denmark. We flew then over the Baltic Sea and entered Poland, close to Szczecin. From there we flew towards Slovakia. We had some amazing views of the Tatry Mountains before flying over the city of Košice.
We continued towards Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, the Black Sea, and reached Turkiye. We crossed it towards Iraq. A right turn put us on course to Kuwait and the Persian Gulf. After more than 15h and a beautiful approach, we landed in Doha Hamad International around 25 minutes late.
About the catering service, there were 3 services in this 15h flight: 2 mains and a warm snack. For dinner, I took the chicken option, with an orzo pasta salad and a delicious mango and coco mousse. Everything was delicious.
Around 7h into the flight, the crew served a warm Mushroom & Potato Masala Pastry with drinks. Once again, delicious. Qatar's Quisine is just amazing.
On the second main one, I took the Fritata option. It came with fresh fruit, bread and yogurt. Once again, everything was perfect.

The views of the northern territories in Canada and the shots of Greenland were incredible. simply glorious and terrifying: you know if you happened to be stuck down there, your life is at risk! I love that the short regional flights are 20 minutes and this ultra long haul international flight video is 30 minutes. There was a lot to see. The views from above are amazing.
Also loved the approaching jet bridges on the screen as well as the train ride in the Doha airport terminal.

This is essentially what I was about to say. I tripped over your channel researching Qatar aircrafts and have to say, WOW!!!!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! The way you explain everything in detailed detail, haha, for lack of a better way to say it, is truly appreciated. You showed and explained all of your experience with absolutely incredible detail that most of us are dying to know about. Meaning, what maybe mundane to some but not to most who come to or find this channel and stay, such as the announcements, terminal pushback and take off. I LOVE TAKE OFF!!!!!! Sorry, ahem, lost it for a second. ANYWAY, the little bitty things many aviation channels choose to leave out because THEY think it's boring, unimportant or what have you assuming many would not want to watch vs including it for viewers who do enjoy it. It's a really unique experience. I took this flight and at this time of the year because of the landscapes. Come on! You can see half of the planet from the sky and people decide to watch a movie... ridiculous...

That's one of the advantages of window shaders, instead of the B787 dimming technology. To record I just need around 10% of the window opened. Also, everyone that wants to sleep with no light has the sleeping mask offered by the airline on the kit. :)
I went from UK to Australia last Christmas with Qatar and they are a really brilliant airline, definitely use them again when I go and see my son who lives there ❤

Nice video ! I've done nine hours in economy class, however, I think I'd really struggle with doing a 15 hour flight. Would need to upgrade to business class to have a fully reclining seat to a bed.

Those views over Greenland are absolutely stunning. I took the same flight last year but slept off from Canada until we reached Turkiye in Business class.
Never tried Qatar economy. Maybe one day in the future.

Just been viewing your awesome trip report,great camera work dude👍 Back in august 1991 mum and i flew from Singapore to London on Singapore Airlines 747-400,flight took 14 hours back then.,was in economy class with very good F.A service & food flight was comfortable.

Espectacular viaje... Que hermosos paisajes nos brindaste, amigo. La comida se veía que estuvo deliciosa a excepción del desayuno (esa cosa de vegetales como que no se veía rico, pero bueno, tu nos dirás). Ese paso de la "noche" al día estuvo guauuu.

supongo que te refieres a la "fritata". La verdad es que estaba riquísimo. Es una especie de tortilla francesa con algo de pimiento por el medio. REalmente apetitosa :)
En cualquier caso, hubo 3 opciones de comida en cada servicio.
It seems the Qatar A 350 has individual air conditioning nozzles. What a relief as most airlines like Lufthansa forgo them nowadays with their emphasis on cost cutting
My longest flight was 16 hours and 5 minutes, and it was on Air India from New Delhi to San Francisco around seven years ago on a Boeing 777-200LR.

Amazing video indeed! Long haul flight last February, from Haneda Tokyo Airport to Frankfurt Germany with ANA203. Unforgettable experience with 14,5 hours onboard the aircraft flying over Greenland as well!

Great Report. Love those Ultra long haul. You need to do 1- Korean Air 747-8i Atl-Seoul, 2- SIngapore Sin-JFK via Frankfurt on A380
I did already FRA-JFK-FRA on the SQ A380.
The Korean B748 is something on the wish list at the moment :)
Un placer siempre disfrutar de tus reportes. Nunca pueden faltar los detalles fundamentales del vuelo y los aeropuertos pero sobre todo, el niño llorando durante el taxeo para despegar y el descenso para aterrizar. Mi vuelo más largo fue Madrid - Santiago de Chile, en 2004,unas 13 horas seguidas a bordo de un A340 de la desaparecida Lan Chile. Servicio y confort muy buenos. Prefiero las escalas para conocer otros aeropuertos, ver paisajes distintos y estirar bien las piernas.

When crossing the border between Turkey and Iraq you can see the geological patterns in the landscape of the time and erosion pattens of wind and water erosion over millions of evolution of the earth ,Quite spectacular scenery all the way ,❤

I did a similar flight from Los Angeles to Doha...it was some 14.30 hs...the difference is that my seats were business class and there is a world of difference. I have to do overnight in Doha to take an early flight to Amman Jordan
I'm sure it's a completely different story in business class... but for now that's impossible for me :)
