    newly retired 88m here, loved my MOS. Ended my career training others and logistics analyst specialist. very proud of all myself and other team members accomplished during State emergencies and overseas outside the wire! great career and lots of potential! I was honored to operate the PLS 16ton vehicle. Greatest part of my career was on the road, outside the wire....and coming home alive!

    I really don't understand what the point is throwing hate at 88m's because honestly every job in the military has some sort of importance. I see people say how easy the job is and stuff and I'm like what does I matter somebody's got to do the job and besides we're all one big family. Get over it stop making such a big deal about 88m.

    they did work us long hours, especially in Iraq. including upload and downloads and return. still loved my career. but yes, they had me on the road when I was very sick & for long hours. but, we were there early in 2003 with very little capabilities still in theater. however, they continued to abuse us under bad conditions and long hours. that suck....yet I'd still do it again!

    88m is a mos that you can be sent anywhere in the Army. I spent my four years in active duty in a Infantry unit. The only time i got to transport anything is when i transferred to the guard and i didn't know shit about trucks like the PLS or LHS.

      So if an 88m is in a infantry unit does he also get into firefights when the infantry does after dropping them off

    They say 88m is a big time pog job, but if it risks your life just like infantry then it is disrespectful to call it a pog.

    Adding to previous comment. I’m 88m in infantry division but we always carry heavy ammo in hot sun while the nco and LT stay in the a/c all day. And when the LT comes he just watches us do all the work.

    Swore in today at MEPS in my area. Wanted a 15 series job, or a 91 series, but ended up as an 88M with a 20k bonus. I hope I get to work on my vehicle as much as I told I was, and I hope I get to drive many Humvees! Lmao I ship out June 18th to Ft. Jackson!

    • @ottergreen8190
      @ottergreen8190 6 лет назад

      Well, I was in 06-09. We were a gun truck company in an MP unit in garrison and Iraq doing convoy security and I lost the coin toss to be a 50 gunner. So, it's not all driving 915's, it's being a sitting duck for ambush and rolling past IED's in combat. As far as working on our vehicles, we did stuff on the road like rigging vehicles to get back to the FOB, but the 68Ws, mechanics, do the heavy work in terms of actual maintenance and repairs. It's definitely a job where you'll see combat and earn a CAB, that's for sure.

      Christian Kinzel how did you get a 20k bonus??

    • @christiank7837
      @christiank7837 6 лет назад +1

      oscar most mos’s have a bonus when you enlist. 88M is a dangerous job so it has a higher bonus. Other more difficult jobs have big bonuses too. Up to about 40k. I get 10k after AIT, then 5k each year for two years.

    Ok, so yesterday I sat down with the Army counselor to pick my job. I was given three jobs because I am prior service and they are limited on jobs. Infantry, tanker and motor t. I chose motor t because, well you know I didn’t want the other two. I haven’t signed or swore in yet (it’ll be in two weeks). Did I make the right move? I have a family and a prior service Marine. I am a male. Thanks!

    It’s pretty odd for such a dangerous job I’d expect the bonus to be higher. I was told about it but it only had like a 10k bonus but if it was like that for the reserves

    Appreciate the video man it was a lot of help and very informative, I’m planning on enlisting in the Illinois Reserves (National Guard) to 88M if that sounds correct (very new to the military lifestyle myself, but my whole family are veterans or currently enlisted). I have some questions though. At this time I’m curious as to how likely I would be deployed overseas and for how long? After Basic and AIT I plan on returning to school for my 4th semester to Illinois State University as soon as possible to get my Masters degree in Science Education. I would ask where I would be possibly deployed, if the odds are high these days that is, and how dangerous the job truly is in certain countries. Would really appreciate some feedback from an experienced driver for some peace of mind and just to prepare myself mentally for certain possibilities. Great video again and would appreciate it greatly. Thanks again sir.
