I live locally to this. One thing you didn't mention regarding transport is that it would have tied in with long discussed (and legally protected) plans/aspirations to bring the Elizabeth Line to Ebbsfleet/Northfleet, so that the London Resort would have been accessible from the London Metro system. This is something that has a lot of local support but of course no money to pay for the upgrade of the existing railway to accommodate Elizabeth Line trains. Also, international trains could have stopped at the resort via Ebbsfleet International. The road situation would have been extremely tricky. Also FYI I believe the High Court date for the Paramount hearing is set for the first half of next year. It does seem a bit pointless to fight over a carcass at this point... although there were rumours last month that some of the London Resort investors were interesting in buying some of the land which has been put up for sale.
Ah, never heard about the connections with the tube, probably would have been more of a mess to do practically than not, there was so much that needed doing logistically... and yes completely agree with you regarding Paramount suing LRCH, seems a bit petty in my eyes...
@@coastertimecapsule Well the hope is that the tube connection will happen anyway at some point, it wasn't linked to the park in any way (it's been on the cards for years) but the park would have been an obvious funding source.
@@coastertimecapsule You could also argue that if Paramount does actually go ahead with the (expensive) court process in April, then they think there is still some value in the London Resort company somehow, so perhaps its not completely, totally 100% dead quite yet. The court case is over the CVA restructuring which was giving company equity to creditors instead of debt - so why do Paramount want a stake in a defunct company? The company doesn't even own the land, just the right to try to build a park there...
The London Resort also known as London Paramount is Located in Kent with Franchises from Viacom,BBC and ITV such as: Mission impossible,Star trek,Doctor who and top gear and areas in the park are: High street,Starport,Base camp,The isles,The kingdom and The studio and stopped in early 2025
Problem with the "london" resort was that it was based in london. for such a massive investment it would have been generally difficult for most of the country to get to whereas universal looked at a site which was accessible to not only london but birmingham, manchester, etc etc.
I think a big issue was an inability to pivot and instead double down. Like I do wonder if when the jumping spiders got in the way if they pivited to say hoo if they would have gotten further
Agreed, there seemed to be very little compromise... think it would have been cool to see but I couldn't see it lasting very long even if it did open because of these issues
Relieved this didn't go ahead, the M25 can't cope and the Lower Thames Crossing is only a partial solution, where budget is seen widely to be of greater importance than doing a proper job, hence why the plans were, at last version,, to only link to the eastbound (Essex bound) A13, not to the westbound (London bound) as well.
I agree with you here, I live not too far from the QE2 bridge, its mayhem around there on the Essex side on a normal Saturday let alone with a major theme park coming into the mix!

Why build on unspoiled land when there’s dozens of abandoned theme parks already in our country?!
Hopefully the Universal project actually goes ahead and doesn't waste a valuable plot of land!
Hopefully the Universal theme park in Bedford will go through
I hope so too, would be surreal to see the likes of Universal coming to the UK!
Rumour has it USGB will not feature harry potter
