Wow, what a game! That Secret of the Sisterhood pull was nuts! I know some complain that the intrigues are too luck based but it sure makes for high drama. Lannister is a beast! I've seen him play Rhombur twice now and he makes it look so easy. GG everyone, what a great finish.
I appreciate the compliment Greg, honestly its pretty humbling hearing this sort of feedback from other players and viewers. I'm happy that you enjoyed the match and hopefully i'll continue to have your support!
Yeah he is a beast! He’s in two more of my pools games so you’ll be seeing plenty more of him in the tournament uploads. (And yeah that that secret of the sisterhood pull was sooo lucky)
@@DenDen-jk8kt The feedback is well deserved, you're a great player. It's great to see people use the lower tier leaders and have success with them. Rhombur might not be the best leader but, as you've shown, with good play good things can happen. This is even more remarkable considering the pool you're in! For sure I'll be rooting for you in your next matches.
Great game! I laugh when people call Prince Rhombur trash; he seems to perform consistently well. The player who piloted him this round demonstrated high skill and a clear understanding of Rhombur's strengths.
Yeah Lannister piloted Rhombur excellently - someone needed to stop him from getting detonation devices and taking easy combats but no of us were willing to fight 🤷🏻♂️
@@orski78 Well every time you denay something both person deniyng and a person thats being denayed lose in game of 4 people while 2 other guys get ahead. Denying on drednaughts or drednaughts tech is a huge sacrafice since you need to be in combat strategy and you need both to have any use of those at all. Lanni played this perfectly. I especially love this early reveal play and then going for greedy points instead of making sure his alliance is not stealen. He was like: "if you want to waste actions stealing my alliance by going to worse faction spot in the game go ahead. You end up wasting 2 to 3 action moves on 1 vp while I concentrate on other stuff"
Swordmaster sucks compared to high council specifically for spice must flow strategies. I will always stand by that. To get it, you had to play wealth, and 2 moves to smuggling, and the move to actually buy the swordmaster. And spending cards on agent turns means you dont get their reveal bonus, so to use it effectively you actually lose persuasion.
Amazing job sneaking to second place in this game. This was definitely hardest qualifications in entire tournament. Also yet again Lanni casually menages to destroy group with F tier leader
Haha thanks! It was a pretty passive route to 2nd place but we have more time to get aggressive before the tournament is over. Lannister definitely made an early statement with that Rhombur win
Can someone enlighten me on why the guildbanker is so powerful? I know that you could theoretically buy two "spice must flow" if you have a total of 12 persuasion, is that something that happens with any kind of regularity (and is worth to build toward?). Because otherwise it feels much worse to me than that Pieter de Vris card, which also got bought early and got much less of a reaction. That card has an actual 3 persuasion or free intrigue which seems way more powerful and flexible to me.
There was so much insanity in the last couple rounds of this game, kinda cruel really...also hearing Orski's thoughts combined with the things brought up in the Hidden Asset commentary, fascinating.
I was considering taking an agent action turn but as soon as Orski went selective breeding i knew i couldn't chance him ringing Choam away so i had to snap reveal
@@marksilverman Thanks dude! it had to be done, but boy oh boy does it feel painful losing 2 agent actions on a snap reveal. I imagine Orski felt even worse...sorry bud (xoxo Orski)
Very well played by Rhombur! Exciting to see the lesser-used leaders get a chance to shine. However, I do kind of feel like everyone just let Rhombur do whatever he wanted? It was very telegraphed that he was going for Dreadnought to buy Detonation Devices on round 2. Beast could have easily gone Tech Negotiation to pick up Detonation Devices himself, pivoting into a dreadnought strategy and completely denying Rhombur. After Rhombur was set up, it felt like the other players were scrambling for 2nd place without really contesting him. But hey, maybe I'm missing some intricacies, and hindsight is 20/20 anyways.
Yeah completely agree, I wasn’t in much of a position to get involved with combats but I was hoping that the beast would challenge him more. Rhombur getting a bunch of free combat victories with detonation devices allowed him to pull ahead. Dune imperium is a lot about other players challenging and keeping eachother in check and we didn’t do a good job of checking rhombur in combat. It is tough though because to check someone else you have to sacrifice your own game - and I guess one of us were willing to do that this time around 🤷🏻♂️
I do agree partially, I felt Red did a very admirable job contesting me. He just couldn't do it every turn. He specifically went to grab 4 spice and a ton of intrigues to combat me. if not for his 2 combat intrigues he drew into for a 7 sword swing, the game would have been over.
I was surprised that you didn’t choose the guild bump with the Liet Kines purchase to get that out of the way on the beginning of the game (which denied you from the shipping the whole game in the end). Even without the shipping track you managed to find your way around the game but it turns out that this bump could have gotten you the win maybe since you could have gone with Liet Kines on the Emperor track last round to get that extra point from the track, the tie with yellow and the win on spice tie-breaker. :)
@@orski78 Oh Yeah you are right, I didn’t see it properly because of small screen and I still didn’t do the homework of learning all cards by heart! 😁 Amazing game either way, keep up the great content! 🤞🏻
GL Orski, hope you win! Question, me and my friends are starting to play competitive dune imperium now. What is the hidden leader pick rule? So basically you roll for the starting order and pick reversely from that order, but you mentioned in this video 6 leaders are removed from the game, are they randomly removed or specific leaders are removed because they are too strong? Do you mind explain this hidden leader pick rule a bit? thanks
Hi, this is Lannister. 6 leaders are randomly removed from the game, this allows for greater variance of leaders so you can't 1 trick pony your way to the finals.
No one of them had a character that could make good use of 3rd agent in compettive setting. Basically in Ix tournament time you spent early getting swordmaster will give you same amount of extra actions. Only diffrence is that you will have those extra actions in late game. This means agent is useful for characters that get way better in late game like Ecaz or concentrate fully on combat - like beast. Beast this game would like a 3rd Agent. He even early trashed a 1-cost card to get money but simple was in no position to get swordmaster spot. Rhombur can't really get 3rd agen since he has to get drednaught early and get some early wins with that drednaught. Hellena was busy buying spices and Tessia jumping on faction spaces.
I don't quite understand the beast's play --- he seems to be not interested in combat win at all, especally in the first and third turn, where he could have won the early VPs, instead of acquiring an ixian tech, which can give one VP in the later phase of game... Personally I like lannister's style, very calculated early game strategy with very ferocious combat --- he does not lose any of the combat that he wants to win!
Blue could trash freshly bought treachery on the last turn using his Disposal Facility, get 2 troops in the combat and win the last combat due to his Advanced Weaponry intrigue. That would allow him to gain one more VP on Emperor track and win the game.
