What leads you to believe that the date is 1815, I have a Muir and wood with a similar case and similar action with brass under-dampers a la broadwood and son which I believe to be c.1805
This is a type of piano. Square pianos were popular in the last quarter of the 18th century and throughout the 19th century. This example only has 68 notes and doesn't have an iron plate, so not yet a 'modern piano' but certainly a member of the piano family.
