  • So Noah and Shawn have seen my BMW Z3 before but have never ridden in it or even sat in it. So today, we change that.

    Shawn having a problem driving the Z wasn't his height, it was his weight. I watched a youtube video the other day about a guy that has a Z3 and he was 6'2" and said he was completely comfortable driving his Z. It was his daily driver and he was shooting the video while driving all over the place. He said he had plenty of room... But, he wasn't overweight. Also, I bought a 1996 Z3 last year. I flew down to North Carolina from Ohio to get it. I took my nephew that just retired from the Navy with 30 years. He's 51 years old is 6 feet tall and weighs 245 pounds (solid muscle). We took turns driving straight through back to Ohio, a 450 mile trip, and he commented that he couldn't believe how comfortable he was traveling in that car. I'm not trying to disrespect Shawn, I'm just saying that saying he was too tall for the car wasn't the problem. There may be other people watching this video that are tall but not heavy that might think they wouldn't be happy with a car like this. They should try one.....they will be surprised how roomy they actually are. I really don't mean to insult Shawn...I'm far from thin myself.

      Its also to do with where your height is. either your torso and your're sat too high, or you have longer legs

      Haha. I think the reason for that is that the seat motor isn’t working in terms of height and so it’s stuck on my height (5’ 7”)

    Please read the comment I made before this one first. Watched some more of the video and wanted to also say, my Z is almost identical to yours, color and interior except mine is a 1996 and it's a manual 5 speed. I don't know if you have electric seats, but I did see that you have heated seats, as I do. I'm sure you probably know this, but my seats are electric and the black rectangular knob on the side of the seat, if you push it down, it will lower the whole seat down to the floor. If you pull up on it, it will raise the seat up quite a bit. Maybe your seat is in the high position being your 5'7". You might want to check that. If your seats are manual, I would guess you would still have a way to raise and lower the seat. If you know all this already then I guess I sound like an idiot.....But honestly, when I first bought my car, I didn't realize I could raise and lower the seats. Just thought maybe it might be something you overlooked too.

      I get where you are coming from and you are correct to assume I have power seats, that being said the height adjustment is broken on mine so I can’t go higher or lower. I will say that for my car specifically, because of the height adjustment breakage, it doesn’t suit Shawn or Noah to drive safely but that’s not the case for every Z3. Shawn’s Miata is about the size of my Z3 and he can ride in that car just fine. I should’ve clarified that better in the video. Thank you for bringing it up and allowing me to talk about it. And congrats on your Z3! I hope you’re having fun with the car

      @@Phoenixette My guess would be that the seat is stuck much higher than it needs to be. It's probably great for you being you're 5' 7". But I bet if the seat could be lowered all the way down, your friends would be fine with it......Really doesn't matter anyway since you're the one that drives it. Good talk.

      @@davidhumble6892 I've seen BMWs rot too. And even Mercs. MK1 MX-5s are pushing 35 years old.. They are still alot around and still going strong. I even see old 323Fs still going strong. Sure they might rust underneath. But it can be prevented. Every car will rust eventually if not treated in time. Also comes down to the climate in your area, salted roads and living near the coast. As an Irish man.. We are, advised if importing a car from UK... To avoid Scottish and Northern English cars due to the over salting of their roads in winter.. UK imports rot like hell. Roads, in Ireland are gritted instead of salted. Hince why out cars don't rot like UK cars,. Don't be labeling Mazdas as rot boxes. It happens to all cars overtime.

    What are the main problems you have experienced owning a Z3?

    • @Phoenixette
      @Phoenixette  Год назад

      The major problem I had was with my Bend Solenoid going out. This caused my Transmission light and check engine light to go on and a lurching downshift. I also had an oil leak which came cause my mechanic didn’t do my oil filter during my oil change and - as a result - the oil filter gasket went bad and the housing had issues soon afterwards. And finally, for some reason, when I adjust any electronics (adjust heat, try to roll windows up even though they already are, etc.) while at a stop, my RPMs shutter. But aside from that, it’s small things like my power seating moving back and forth a little and my top going from being motorized to manual (but I perfer it manual)
