I agree with you guys about the importance of children being a part of a Christian body. Our issue is we live rurally and have had troubles finding an Orthodox church. We get tired of spending an hour after we get home correcting non biblical things. Additionally there is so much abuse that occurs in the church childrens ministries that we choose to keep our children with us all the time. So because of that we basically do home church services and there are a few families we meet with every other week. There are too many churches of America by which I mean every other service is basically a political message with very little Bible tie in. Many of the others are non denominational that are way off the rails in specific items or even denominational but deny some of the Orthodox guidelines of their denomination. Finally we get tired of there being a monthly service on tithing when it seems like the church isn't stewarding it's wealth well and their accounting is questionable.
