- Momotaro is often nervous when it comes to food.
This time, Momotaro tried to take away the food that Gentaro got from his zookeeper, but Gentaro quickly got away.
Despite this, father and son were sitting and eating together in harmony, so Momotaro must not have liked the fact that Gentaro got the food from the keeper first this time.

Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO.
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

I love all the green!!! I've noticed Kinny is always in the bushes, especially when he's hiding from Dad with food in his hand ! It's all good! I’m really happy they have more greenery. I know it makes things more difficult for the videographers but I’m happy for the gorillas. I think they love to be surrounded by trees they feel more protected and it gives Momo a break as he is such an alert protector for his family, he can rest somewhat easier now thinking his family can be more easily be camouflaged against “the enemy” with the extra greenery and Momo can chill, relax, and ease his watch 🦍♥️
Anybody who took Genki would bring her back in a second
Richard, the silverback at the Prague Zoo has 4 females. If you put Momo and Richard next to each other, you would see the difference. Richard is much more full of himself and happier too. This poor guy is pathetic. He is in his prime and is so frustrated.
The gorillas welfare and happiness should be first priority. Thank you for respecting that

Very nice video Momotaro has really been chill with Gentaro and that makes me 😊 happy. I’m thinking about when will Gentaro get his k-9’s back and it’s that when they are ready to become a silverback?? Kintaro is going to go crazy without his sweet big brother to play with, Genki sweetheart make another baby and I hope it’s a sweet little girl so Kintaro has a playmate and her being the boss baby lol ❤❤

Hey ladies , I am kind of partial to both comments ( 1) . Ginki is a little agressive with Momo when it comes to.mating . Momo seems to be running away from her Everytime . After all he is his mothers son ( Momoko ) ,, who by the way did not get along with Ginki either . I think Momo kind of know something about that .😄👍🤔 So she really got to do a whole lot of twerking for Momo to give her that baby girl . For Kinny sake that would be something for him to focus on and be a good big brother like Gentaro is to him . Also closer to his age . I could see him giving her a piggyback rides ..
Now we all can agree to disagree ladies . My only concern with this troop is GENTARO 👍 HE IS GOING TO HAVE HIS OWN MATE and TROOP HOPEFULLY SOON . He deserve it and that Habitat is getting smaller the more he grows , at 12 years old he is going to be a big and wonderful Silverback . Iam just saying you both have a point that makes sense . In my opinion, the zoos should never allow mating to happen or cross breeding or breeding of any kind , it is absolutely disgusting to see constantly more gorillas born into zoo enclosures forced to live in captivity, then forced to mate with another gorilla.. the fact they allow mating is just down right terrible, and very wrong. This should have never happend also momostupido is extremely unintelligent, so is genki, and kintaro, gentaro is the only one that displays any form of intelligence. It is very sad. Gentaro should have been kept away from genki at or after birth same with kintaro. Both should have been seperated for good and put into their own enclosures. Momostupido and genki same with all other captive gorillas should have never been put together in the first place.. now watch what happens once gentaro is a tiny bit bigger. He is going to completely maul momostupido and really attack him doing some real damage.. but that's reality of captive gorillas, i would not be suprised at all if genki gets pregnant from gentaro because thats also the reality of captive gorillas is the constant cross breeding and cross mating. Suppose thats ok to though right ??? .... jesus.😢
Compared to Shabani Momo does not interact with Gentaro. He does not play very much. But maybe because the enclosure is too small. I wish Kyoto would build a bigger enclosure for the Gorrillas. When you look at their faces sometimes they look so bored
Hi Cathy - that's true, Shabani is a fun-loving gorilla and wants to play with his offspring all the time! As you may know, Momotaro's dad, Biju, died before his birth. So Momotaro grew up with only his mother. He was never around a silverback to watch and learn from. While he was comfortable playing with a young Gentaro, it appears he does not know how to react to an older Gentaro. On the other hand, Shabani and Haoko, grew up with a stable family and many siblings. They were able to see many things and learn from Kibabu, their dad. 🦍🦍
@@Charlotte-r I agree! I read up on Kibabu, he was very prolific! 15 offspring? I love that Shabani and Haoko are brothers from such lineage.
It's so irritating to see this comment. Momo didn't have a father or siblings, and was taken away several times from his mother so they could try and breed her. His mother who isn't playful. So how on earth was he supposed to suddenly know how to play? Shabani had a father and siblings to play with. So comparing them all the time is really crappy, especially considering how much Momo does play with Kinney, and even Gentaro for several years until he hit that awkward black back phase. Momo spends time with his sons and is a way better father than most Silverbacks. Holding him to the super playful Shabani standard is just naive.

@@klmoll He was magnificent! The last offspring was born in 2011 - his daughter Kipenzi still lives at Mogo Zoo in Australia. I believe he fathered 16 offspring with 3 females. As you may know, Kibabu died in 2018 at the age of 41.

I think this is a good idea for the trees. In the past they looked so hot and not they look like they are refreshed. I just love this family, Can't wait to see them again. lean on God

Kintaro stole dads food from him. He's afraid Momo will discipline him!! What he did is against gorilla rules. ESPECIALLY A SILVERBACK. !!!!!!!! Gentaro tried it too!! Momo and Genki thought it was cool when he was little, but now he tries to get everyone food. He even got Gentaro bamboo shoot yesterday right out from under his nose!!!! Kintaro sits up high so they can't take food away!!!!!! He Is funny little gorilla.

Shabani family seems so much more happier n relaxed. I like the greenery here but they need some outside

Gorillas in the Mist♥️♥️♥️☺️…….Oh, how I wish they could have a larger more natural enclosure, but at least a way to have fresh air circulating through, perhaps the enclosure has a air conditioning ventilation system that we can’t see for that outside area ? If not,I bet it is stifling in The summer 🙁

Handsome Momotaro & his family are well fed, so there is no good reason for Momotaro to take Gentaro's food. Gentaro is learning that it is ok for a son to attack his mom & it is ok for dad to attack his son & it is ok for a husband to attack his wife. .
??? Isn’t Gentaro the same age as Momotaro was when he was born?? According to the birth years it should be exact. It’s just hard to believe that Gentaro right now doesn’t look mature enough or act mature enough to start his own troop. Yes, one day but not right now…..
Well, if he had a girlfriend (requiring relocation) or moved out of mum&dad's to a bachelor group, he would mature the silver, like yesterday! At the moment dad's testosterone level is, probably, somewhat suppressing Gentaro's development! 🦍🦍🦍

@@justbreathe_ When Gentaro was born Momotaro was almost 11.5 years bc he was born July 3rd, 2000 and Gentaro is born December 21st of 2011. So Gentaro is not quite 11.5 years, but he will be in June.

Awe Genki needs some assistance getting clean 2:58 I've been noticing this alot with her lately. Maybe an upset stomach?
This is (probably) bc Genki having lost most of her molars from tooth decay + veterinary dentist removed bad teeth, i.e. shes having trouble chewing, combined with stress-/overeating! The result is unfortunately indigestion and also excessive gas production, hence her belly can change size quite drastically from one day to the next.

I have recently looked at the Tripadvisor reviews for Kyoto City Zoo. I’m truly distressed about the well being of the animals that have to live there.

Dad is always jealous if the boys get attention from zookeepers.. if he sees it he will go right over and scare the boys away so that HE gets the attention from the zookeepers.. every single time his gets jealous if zookeepers give boys anything.
That is simply not true! Many many times the boys are getting treats from the keepers w/o Momo interfeering!
