"...ill-mannered tourists with their BigGulps, Slurpees, Misty's and Frostees..their dirty feet overflowing rubber thongs..." LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the moment Julia snaps. She was going to put up with it and deal, until that ill mannered tourist uttered those two deadly words. And then, "that's itttt"
Here's one Yankee, flag-flying Republican that cheered when Julia finally had ENOUGH and gave the history lesson and the marching orders to the intruding slobs! Brava!
My role model - since I am of the Carter's of Georgia and live in a historical house tour town in the south - I hope she is my kin - she played this part so well.
@applesauce2100 Originally no. But after 1860s, many Northern occupants stayed in Atlanta. Same thing happened to the Northern Virginia/DC area. They never left since.
im from Richmond, Virginia and when I visited Atlanta in 2003 it did not feel even remotely southern to me. Ironically, I live well north of Atlanta and we're a lot more like the "old South". Although Atlanta was never really a truly Southern city. It was settled by northerners mostly.
I don't think so. Speaking as a Black man, I think her point was whether it's people like Scarlett O'Hara or Mammy, to overly mythologize history is to do a disservice to the people who lived it.
One of the best sitcoms ever, from beginning to end.... perfect acting, perfect writing.

This is and always will be one of my alltime favorite shows. It's timeless in my opinion.
Absolute classic Terminator moment! God bless Julia Sugarbaker and even more so to Dixie Carter for bringer her to life-gone but never forgotten.
Dixie had a lot of class...she will be missed and always remembered!
This is my #1 favorite TV moment of all time!
I will miss Dixie. The world has truly lost something with her passing.
I could watch this clip over and over - hilarious!
I love the moment Julia snaps.

LMAO! Those Costumes!!! Go Julia!!!
@VASINGER I dont think the native Atlantans would agree with you, by saying it was settled by neortherners.

Julia tirade was funny
such cute frilly princess dresses. so girly. so pretty. so beautiful.
what episode is this?
Mary Ann Mobley owes Dixie Carter her career
dayum. those accents sounded normal to me 20 years ago.
It was a great sitcom until the last two seasons. Season 6 had some good episodes and season 7 was a train wreck pure and simple.
julia is my hero
I’m a little confused. Is she defending the confederacy?
