I like how much y’all moved around on this one. Not just stuck on the street, actually went to some different locations. Seems like a good dood. Love the videos Paulie
Really appreciate you featuring a digital shooter. I love this series and am rewatching ~ but I was starting to think that many of the street photog community may not accept digital as valuable or real. Would love to see any other digital shooters featured in the future. Also loved all the book recommendations from John and the flash shots. Thank you as always Paulie 🙏✌️
John wha representing. As I get older it’s wonderful to Asian American artists doing their thing and putting in the work on their true selves. Thank you guys for your honesty!
This was such a good video! I definitely picked up some inspiration and tips from John, particularly how he goes through photo books . Thanks to you both 🍻
It’s WILD that you brought up that old lady. I was literally thinking about not having my legs and how I’d be the one to drive around in a motorized chair, taking photos lol.
Thank you for doing these videos and letting us follow the walks, i miss new york. I used to come back home to do these exact same walks when i would come back to chinatown manhattan to see my parents. My dad got hurt, now he and my mom live with me in the DMV area now, and I just miss seeing my childhood city, thank you so much for documenting our home. Too much info, but just wanted to express gratitude man.
Just as I was starting to feel some type of way about all these film dudes, here comes a guy with a Fuji. An XT3 at that, you go boy! Not that I have anything against film, I started on film in 2007 in HS.
Love this, I use exactly the same technique. Love the low angle candid look. And if you want to be ultra sneaky you can use the touch screen for shooting and don't wven use the shutter button, it just looks like you fiddling with the settings.
I’d love to see one of these NYC street photographers working the Salt Lake City streets. It’s such a different environment I’d love to see how they adapt. I might learn something valuable.
Great episode! I shoot both, but I live in South Texas, population 340k, on the beach, and I’m bored! But not everyone knows this place, so I have to keep pushing, and he reminded me. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
This was a fun one, and John, even at the ripe old age of 100 (j/k) can still keep up with the teenagers. I loved seeing him use his Fuji in that way for street. I have an old Samsung NX3000 with that kind of tilt-screen, and paired with the 20mm pancake it's very stealthy for street. I still like using the optical RF in my Leica more...looking thru the RF I feel...more engaged in the environment if that makes any sense
Those fountain photos were hilarious. I remember way back before I knew what I was doing with my camera, this homeless lady came up to me and pulled them thangs out. Said “take a picture of these”. I missed the shot of course, but it’s a funny memory to have.
John is born in '79... is it right ? Very interesting video over a cultured photographer. Nice to introduce a digital street photographer ! thanks Paulie 💥👌
Im not a fan of the XT3 but that because of the type of shooting I do, but I think its perfect for street work. Id get one just for that purpose alone.
nice to see a photographer with a camera that’s not a Leica
The not leica episodes are the best ones
I know and then I'm just here with my Fuji x e1 haha
Agreed!
I swear I see one Leica per 50 cameras around NYC.
Thank god someone said it 😂 .
bruh this guy is SUPER knowledgeable. he went on a GREAT book rant haha.
This man knows his photo books
What I like about this is that John doesn't conform to any standards. He just enjoys photography. I feel that.
His love for photography is infectious. And he has such a great attitude.
Dropped some photo knowledge! This episode could have been twice as long!
Best one yet, learned so much that photography is as much about getting off your couch to shoot and getting on your couch to look at books.
John Wha is the smartest street photographer on Walkie-Talkie.
He shoots digital instead of film.
Jaw dropped when he said "since 1979"!
😮
nice to see that you are also open to digital photographers :)
I like how much y’all moved around on this one. Not just stuck on the street, actually went to some different locations. Seems like a good dood. Love the videos Paulie
Bro this guy's the best. The least pretentious and most considerate of others. I hope this guy goes the furthest!
Fuji representation finally! 😂❤️
Team Fuji! ❤
Hey Paulie, love these series. Its also really cool to see some digital street photographers doing it
This guy's knowledge is inspiring. Great conversation and clearly has a deep love for the art.
Loved it. Glad to see a Fuji X shooter included in your series. Really likes what John did with the 18mm 1.4.
Such a cool dude , my favourite episode . Very very genuine person
just binge watching these, I love the optimism of John and all the other photographers in this excellent series
LOVED LISTENING TO HIM TALK ON HIS VIEWS OF STREET PHOTOGRAPHY!! DOPE VIDEO!!!!!🤘🏾🤘🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

John knows his stuff. Some cracking portraits too
Love the contrast between John and those photographers by the water. Huge respect for both; but man, John seems to be such a cool dude.
John wha representing. As I get older it’s wonderful to Asian American artists doing their thing and putting in the work on their true selves. Thank you guys for your honesty!
love this, best photowalk vid ever
this dude popped off! gave me some homework to look into. loved his shots with the flash. keep grinding fellas
I’ve never looked up so many books while a video was paused.
Man, all the photo book knowledge. This is the kinda conversation over beers I'd just nerd out about.
probably thee best episode… john was spittin’ bars and taking some tough photos!
Finally a digital photographer! 😂 Kidding, I love this series 👍👍👍👍
This was such a good video! I definitely picked up some inspiration and tips from John, particularly how he goes through photo books . Thanks to you both 🍻
the books recommendations go crazy
It’s WILD that you brought up that old lady. I was literally thinking about not having my legs and how I’d be the one to drive around in a motorized chair, taking photos lol.
33:45. That shot is amazing!
That's the one that made me go "Oh!" and rewind it.
THOSE PAULIE B SHOTS ARE SICCCCCKKKKK!!!!🤣🤣🤣
I like Johns Street Photography style. Learned so much from him in this video.
I knew he was older when I saw the Nike monarchs, great video series.
can I like, just fly to New York and do one of walks with you? the vibes are immaculate. got me inspired and hyped. love it. you're the best Paulie!!
Eyy look at this. Almost a year later you filmed a thing for him
@@NoGripyooo that is absolutely bonkers you found this comment!! 😅 So true tho! Very full circle & fulfilling moment.
My favorite thus far more n this series. I loved watching and listening to a fellow Asian brother
at 31:21 the lighting is just surreal man, the reflection from the building and the little lights on the wateer
Paulie, this is one of the best videos in your series. 👌🏽
Thank you for doing these videos and letting us follow the walks, i miss new york. So manny gems with the photo book recs.
great video as always. appreciate john wha for what he does and for all of the photo book reccos. those portfolio shots are something else
I enjoyed this episode a lot. John's a cool guy 👍🏾
John is right, there are no rules.
“Leading lines.” OMG, I laughed so hard. 😂
He has a beautiful laugh
Just as I was starting to feel some type of way about all these film dudes, here comes a guy with a Fuji. An XT3 at that, you go boy! Not that I have anything against film, I started on film in 2007 in HS.
Love John’s approach. He also sounds like Ray Romano’s twin brother!
Love this, I use exactly the same technique. Love the low angle candid look. And if you want to be ultra sneaky you can use the touch screen for shooting and don't wven use the shutter button, it just looks like you fiddling with the settings.
I was surprised with him actually engaging for his portraits under the bridge. I like this dudes style he just gets his shot no matter what method.
Excellent walkie talkie! Your footwear has to be on point if you are going to hang with John Wha.
Another great episode! Thanks for introducing us to John «The Professor» Wha.
Loved this. John is sound AF. Some good stuff in here. Liked his strobe use and asking for street portraits
"why have rules?" exactly
Haha the walking, taking photo in SF with all those hills is killer
Excellent , like this guy, interesting Photographers he mentioned.
Happy to see a video featuring a photographer who is using something other than a film Leica.
Like the 8 other walkie talkies that don't feature a film Leica.
Thanks for the list of A1 photographers and photobooks - really invaluable. Such an interesting series - binging these
Great talk! Would love to see his first shots tho😪
one of my faves thus far! he knows his shit
Thanks for books recommendations 😍
I’d love to see one of these NYC street photographers working the Salt Lake City streets. It’s such a different environment I’d love to see how they adapt. I might learn something valuable.
You got to do it because you love it.
Just found your channel today and was really impressed with all the interviews. Well done.
John is so great person! I really love his work, it's sad he didn't post anything for a while. Thank you for this video man. Really love this episode
I just picked up a used Fuji XT3 for Street/Portraits. It feels good to see someone shooting digital.
Great episode! I shoot both, but I live in South Texas, population 340k, on the beach, and I’m bored!
But not everyone knows this place, so I have to keep pushing, and he reminded me. 🙌🏼🙌🏼

The comment about Jamal Shabazz was awesome
I have learned so much from this video! Thanks for showing off the photographers 📸

28:40 do it cuz you love. No one can take that away from you.
Words to live by
Photo of the day was Spiderman. Dope! Great perspective.
Solid pick. Recommend that folks pick the P30T over the P30N… the diagonal split prism makes a bigger difference than you might expect.
I could watch your walk and talks all day...I need to shoot. Thanks Paulie!
nice guy. :). very approachable. and he likes having his sleeves rolled up.
JOHN WHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My G!!!!!!!!
When you going to make me famous Paulie? Hahaha
Wha is an encyclopedia. Makes me realize what a lightweight I am as a photographer. Great vid.
Love his perspectives.
Ol mate in the back is having a mad time 🚩
He has sooo many great book recommendations!
What a cool dude!
Loved this episode!! Killing it dude
John is born in '79... is it right ? Very interesting video over a cultured photographer. Nice to introduce a digital street photographer ! thanks Paulie 💥👌
Nah earlier than that doggie. Flew to nyc in 79. Trust, I’m old
@@sekie1 out here aging like fossilized pizza

Im not a fan of the XT3 but that because of the type of shooting I do, but I think its perfect for street work. Id get one just for that purpose alone.
It's also great for portraits when it's paired with the right lens
