Onkyo Receiver-speakers not working-how to fix

Onkyo Receiver HT-R990
This video shows how to fix an issue with the speakers not working.
Normally your display will show 8 to 12 small boxes that represent each speaker plugged into your Onkyo receiver- if these have disappeared and they are not showing up on your display- then this video is for you.
Cause- connectors within the DTS chip have become disturbed or separated and the solder that connects them needs to be re-heated to bring back the connection
How to Fix:
-unplug the receiver
-Remove top cover
-Identify the DTS chip
-use heat-gun (bring to approx 400degrees; hold 1/2 inch above the chip at 400* for approx 90 seconds
- let cool for at least 3 min
- plug in receiver - and power on
-within 30 seconds of
powering on, you should see the speaker box icons appear
if they don’t , repeat the steps above

My 11 year old TX-NR818 started exhibiting this issue intermittently about a week ago, and gave up entirely yesterday. I tried this fix using a heat gun and an IR thermometer, heating the chip until it was about 350 - 400 degrees F. So far so good... speakers all came on and have been working OK through a dozen power cycles. I was ready to shell out for a new receiver and the reviews of newer models were not that great, so hopefully this will buy me a bit more time.
