Thank you for giving credit to Kevin. I’ve watched almost everyone’s reactions to this and everyone talks about how great the voices are (which yes of course they’re phenomenal) but no one ever gives Kevin the credit he so much deserves!!!
Grew up with Simon & Garfunkel. As a metal head, hadn't listened to the song in ages, until Disturbed took it to a whole new level. For me, this one is on par. Entirely different emotions, but on par.
This group, singing this song live...is THE BEST THING EVER!!!

You guys are so funny. You're so enraptured by the music. These kids are special. They support one another with their voices and love for each other.
Disturbed’s version is still my favorite but this is definitely second. Check out Hallelujah, Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Prayer, Mary Did You Know (this is a Christmas song but the vocals are insane!). They also have a lot of original music. Have fun journeying down the PTX rabbit hole. It is deep!
I love how Mitch shone as supporting vocals in this. He covered the high part of Matt's verse then covered high harmony on Kirsten's verse. Dayum.
Pentatonix version of 'Mary did you know' is just beautiful.
Kirsten recorded this after her time spent on Broadway where she had a vocal coach to help her with voice projection (how to "belt it out.") Those of us who are Pentaholics generally agree that after her B'Way experience, she has seriously improved what was already a great voice.

Emotions are a huge part of a Pentatonix (PTX) version. They always give their whole hearts in performance, whether live or in a video. The mezzo soprano is Kirstin Maldonado, who had a stint on Broadway (in the show Kinky Boots). The beatboxer is the very talented Kevin Olusola, who also sings and plays the cello. The tall blond baritone is Scott Hoying, the bass is Matt Sallee, and the tenor is Mitch Grassi. Mitch has an insane voice which is barely hinted at here. Daft Punk and Bohemian Rhapsody have already been suggested - those will have original PTX bass Avi Kaplan. I'd also suggested Love Again (and original song) from that period. More recent pieces that will show off their versatility include New Rules x Are You That Somebody (mashup of two songs, they are great at medleys and mashups), Mad World, Blinding Lights (recorded in the members' homes during the pandemic), 90s Dance Medley, and The Prayer.
Their version of Hallelujah has over 7 million views because it’s amazing regardless of beliefs. You’ll be blown.

Their both good in my opinion, I like them both but I like PTX's version better.
i am sorry normally what is selected turns to be very good. However pentatonix just isnt one of those bands that can select a song and turn it good or do a good cover but that is because I am very picky with music. Sound of Silence just is not one of those songs they did justice. They have great vocals yes good sound yes but, as I said some songs just dont do. However good band to do.
