  • Video compilation of pictures & clips taken while building the XJ Jeep Cherokee Trailer. Took about 1 year of free time. Still working on details and accessories - just like a real modded Jeep. I am not a mechanic or bodywork/fabrication professional - nor do I claim to be even close. Just learned a few things from my father while patching together my crap cars & taught myself the rest.

    Holy hell! The way this vid started, I was thinking "this is going to be crap." Then I kept watching and it got better and better. This is incredible!

    I was a little skeptical at first, but at the end...I must say, I'm very impressed!! Good job man!! I can tell a lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into that rig. Sweet XJ too! I'm wanting to build an XJ just like it.

    I know it's not a rocket ship, but that took some pretty good vision, good old fashion talent, and a lot of clock. That's a great accessory, and there are still so many more possibilities for tweaking. *Good job!*

    VERY VERY NICE!!! Would love to see footage of it offroading behind you. While building something like this is challenging and it easily keeps you on task, its the final walk-a-round that brings out the feelings of accomplishment and pride in a job well done. Theres nothing like standing back and seeing the culmination of your ideas brought to life with your skills

      Agreed - A great concept. I have a second XJ Cherokee as a donor for parts which would be perfect for this conversion but I'd want to keep the main cab intact too, just get rid of the engine/gearbox etc and all that weight within the bulkhead/dash and front suspension. Rather than have a bug-out sleep tent mounted on a roof-rack, the trailer idea as a towed camper would work better for me. Would have to address the weight distribution issue though. Early days.

    Hey thanks, for posting your hard work on the net. I enjoyed watching the stages and transformation of your project. I started my own version of a XJ camp trailer. I have been working on mine for about 6 months I am doing a few things a little diff. but the concept is very similar. I am impressed with your work. I have a lot of body and paint experience (schooling and several restorations but did not work in the field) I am so glad I ran across this as I am in a phase where some of your photos make it clear of what I will need to do next. One thing I would do for off road proposes is fab your tongue to except a Max Coupler Hitch. as short as you have your you will be able to take your on some pretty gnarly trails. Great Job!

    Put a hitch receiver on the back of your XJ trailer, and you can pull a small boat or 4 wheeler on a second trailer. ( I would just add electric brakes for safety. :-)

    You should put an alternator on the axle yoke to have extra charging power while driving.

    • @hoofarted8709
      @hoofarted8709 6 лет назад

      or get a high output alternator...dumbass:)

    • @Tatertot_Tommy
      @Tatertot_Tommy 6 лет назад +2

      Joshua Staggs, if he has a stand alone, dedicated battery on the trailer, how is a high output alternator going to be of any use for anything if he were to oh let's say loan the trailer out to a friend (who may not have a high output alternator)? And that's just ONE of the many reasons that I can think of as to why adding an alternator would be a great idea for this trailer. DUMBASS, and or IDIOT!
      You should really think before you start assaulting the keyboard. (Or at least attempt to)

    • @hoofarted8709
      @hoofarted8709 6 лет назад

      Well Sir...why in the fuck would he loan out his custom trailer specifically built and matched to the jeep that's pulling it...maybe you should re-think your questions...oh, just one question...do you by any chance have calluses on your hands? if not, shut the fuck up:)

    • @hoofarted8709
      @hoofarted8709 6 лет назад

      and dumbass...adding an alternator with a pulley and belt and whatever the fuck else you can think of...would get in the way and get tangled and ripped off as soon as he goes off road...you know, "off road" its the brown rocky shit with multiple obstacles to cross...not to be confused with a "gravel road" witch most pavement city boy fags would consider off road...

      Many issues for the length, wheel base and weight. It is inspected, whole different set of problems with that much tongue weight. Others have done the firewall cut, it totally resembles a broken XJ being towed. I like the look of the wrapped body lines & turn signals were left over parts I didn't want to toss out.
