- Video compilation of pictures & clips taken while building the XJ Jeep Cherokee Trailer. Took about 1 year of free time. Still working on details and accessories - just like a real modded Jeep. I am not a mechanic or bodywork/fabrication professional - nor do I claim to be even close. Just learned a few things from my father while patching together my crap cars & taught myself the rest.
Holy hell! The way this vid started, I was thinking "this is going to be crap." Then I kept watching and it got better and better. This is incredible!
When I saw the thumbnail I thought this was gonna be dumb but after watching I realized that this is the coolest trailer I've ever seen.
At first I thought it was stupid using the doors like that but then I see what you ended up doing and I love it!! Good job! Looks sick!!
+Aaron DuBois I was thinking the same thing, but dang it turned out sweet.
Not a bad little trailer there,
I was a little skeptical at first, but at the end...I must say, I'm very impressed!! Good job man!! I can tell a lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into that rig. Sweet XJ too! I'm wanting to build an XJ just like it.
Thanks, just like my jeep, it's still not all the way complete.
Didn't keep track of cost, lots of trades.
+hazeltonsounddotcom Whats the weight around?

I've been eyeing vehicles for years to do something like this...NICE JOB...You gave me incentive, and ideas!
Hook up a generator/ alternator to the drive output on that axle and charge a deep cycle setup for inverters.
Nothing like bringing a video back from the dead :), but i remember seeing this on NAXJA. I’m finally getting around to doing something similar but for sleeping.
I still use it, never stops getting attention where ever I go.
I know it's not a rocket ship, but that took some pretty good vision, good old fashion talent, and a lot of clock. That's a great accessory, and there are still so many more possibilities for tweaking. *Good job!*
That was bad ass!! All the hater's must not own a Jeep or ever been in one!!!!!!!!, Long live jeep & prosper!!!!
Very innovative. My favorite part is the "Trailer Rated" and "XJ Trailer" badges.
dude that is the coolest homemade trailer I've ever seen great work
eddie johnson yico
Very nice build buddy
I thought it was going to look awful, but it turned out sweet! Very nice work!
your fabricating skills are truly amazing
Very nice build, you can hook up an alternator to the differential and charge an auxiliary battery while going down the road
VERY VERY NICE!!! Would love to see footage of it offroading behind you. While building something like this is challenging and it easily keeps you on task, its the final walk-a-round that brings out the feelings of accomplishment and pride in a job well done. Theres nothing like standing back and seeing the culmination of your ideas brought to life with your skills
Very nice! Love how you made it look like it was an option from Jeep.
Hope to see it on the road someday. Great use of broken parts and nice work.
Tim Roach , I'll have the Jeep & Trailer at Slamology audio event in Indianapolis Indiana, June 10-11th 2017
Pretty cool idea. Thinking maybe I would have left the whole passenger compartment intact to save a lot of time. And it would already be sealed from the weather, have a stereo built in, etc.
robert persall The rear doors are a huge pain in the ass to climb thru too.
robert persall , it's ok with the Limited in & out it actually gets by adults. Mainly my kids.
It's really just something to entertain them when you're camping, right?
It's mainly for when out at shows, only s few camping trips.
Agreed - A great concept. I have a second XJ Cherokee as a donor for parts which would be perfect for this conversion but I'd want to keep the main cab intact too, just get rid of the engine/gearbox etc and all that weight within the bulkhead/dash and front suspension. Rather than have a bug-out sleep tent mounted on a roof-rack, the trailer idea as a towed camper would work better for me. Would have to address the weight distribution issue though. Early days.
I like how you filled in the back windows of the jeep you are towing it with too!
The towing XJ is a 96 with many modifications. Check out my other videos for more on the Cherokee.
I want to do something very similar with my front-end wrecked Volvo 240 wagon. Thank you for some more inspiration on my future build! I will be swapping all of my performance things to a sedan and plan on making the wagon into a trailer just like this.
that would be sick
I must admit....BADASS-awesome concept
That is really a cool build I love the stickers for that extra detail. I have always wanted to build a trailer out of a truck bed but I could never decide what to do about the front. I like your idea with the doors.
OUTSTANDING !!! Much Respect brother !!!!! 2/8/18 SPOKANE WA !!!!
Killer project! I'll have to make one sometime!
Nice choice of music, too - After Dark...
That came out awesome, must turn a lot of heads going down the road.
it would be funny to have a Dash cam in the front truck, sending video to the screen in the trailer
Bria
!d Hendrick kinetic drug buggy guiding holing holing stupid 'car ]]police
Nice work! Just and idea, since yoke will be spinning run a shift to an alternator and use a charger for a battery bank
Awesome build!! Turned out great!
I made few of them long time ago and one finish yesterday.
Hey thanks, for posting your hard work on the net. I enjoyed watching the stages and transformation of your project. I started my own version of a XJ camp trailer. I have been working on mine for about 6 months I am doing a few things a little diff. but the concept is very similar. I am impressed with your work. I have a lot of body and paint experience (schooling and several restorations but did not work in the field) I am so glad I ran across this as I am in a phase where some of your photos make it clear of what I will need to do next. One thing I would do for off road proposes is fab your tongue to except a Max Coupler Hitch. as short as you have your you will be able to take your on some pretty gnarly trails. Great Job!
Wow great job well played and on a budget. Top build.
using doors to make the front end turned out to be a pretty good idea , i have been looking intoo trailers using the back half of a stationwagon but i was considering using a rear tailgate for the front , this might be a better idea spacewize and its a little more aerodynamic
That’s badass! Very well done
That looks so cool! Great work!
Dam sweet rig pard!! we have 4 Cherokee jeeps and you just gave my brother and myself one hell of an idea! ty man! and nice choice on the tune to tito N tarantula kick ass!! lol
Well done.
MAN! I've been wanting to build one of those for YEARS! Well, more for hauling than hanging out in. Also want to build one from a J20. One of these days...
Dude that's pretty cool!! Great Job!!
That's really cool. Nice idea and work!
Put a hitch receiver on the back of your XJ trailer, and you can pull a small boat or 4 wheeler on a second trailer. ( I would just add electric brakes for safety. :-)
feellnfroggy rear hitch for the platform to sit on the back or spare tire mount to reciever
Not legal for anything smaller than a tractor-trailer to tow double in most states. Especially considering the pulling vehicle is a Jeep
Excellent idea, and excellent use of original components.
Idea for next time: Chop it off at the bottom of the windshield/firewall.
DirtySouthTV , too nose heavy with the wheel base that far back.
that is really neat. Looks cool. I might have to try this idea.
Awesome... There's a lot of work going into that. No doubt it's worth it 👊👊
Simply put, BADASS!!!
AWESOME JOB!
Love it,kids must love it too.
I have an 2007 Jeep Commander Overland and I want a matching trailer now.
Sweet project
nice work. I might have done a few things differently, but i like it. :) Thanks for sharing
nice!! I've wanted to get a Ranger pickup bed for a trailer and this gave me some great ideas!!
Oooooohhhh, this is giving me ideas. Much nicer than my M-416 trailer.
Nice build !
That's dusk till dawn!
coolest trailer I have seen great build video great inspiration . thank you
Awesome. I always wanted to do that with an s 10 pickup. But I like yours better.
Great Build!
Really cool to see that, nice work!
Very cool build.
Oh man, now that is some awesome work. hell yeah! u gotta luv it...
that's pretty awesome would have put a small window up top of front of trailer to get wind flow if you have a few buddies riding in it or even camping out
Folks riding in the trailer will get you in lots of trouble isnt legal at all but it would be a relief after the idiot hogs out on beans an cabbage LOL just put them in there LOL
Yeah. That is damn nice. Thanks for sharing the idea too.
You should put an alternator on the axle yoke to have extra charging power while driving.
or get a high output alternator...dumbass:)
Joshua Staggs, if he has a stand alone, dedicated battery on the trailer, how is a high output alternator going to be of any use for anything if he were to oh let's say loan the trailer out to a friend (who may not have a high output alternator)? And that's just ONE of the many reasons that I can think of as to why adding an alternator would be a great idea for this trailer. DUMBASS, and or IDIOT!
You should really think before you start assaulting the keyboard. (Or at least attempt to)
Well Sir...why in the fuck would he loan out his custom trailer specifically built and matched to the jeep that's pulling it...maybe you should re-think your questions...oh, just one question...do you by any chance have calluses on your hands? if not, shut the fuck up:)
and dumbass...adding an alternator with a pulley and belt and whatever the fuck else you can think of...would get in the way and get tangled and ripped off as soon as he goes off road...you know, "off road" its the brown rocky shit with multiple obstacles to cross...not to be confused with a "gravel road" witch most pavement city boy fags would consider off road...
Joshua Staggs Honestly why you gotta be hostile man. It's a half decent idea. Don't gotta hate.
great work
sweet job
probably the best homemade vehicle specific trailer I've ever seen. great fab skills. and to the Dildos who gave you a thumbs down, well they just plain be JEALOUS!
No jealousy. Shit music.
good job 😉
Actually I thought of this one time. But I never thought of using the doors for the front nose. I was thinking of keeping the doors and front window in place. Then redesigning from the firewall forward.
good job I was thinking about doing something like this based on my shogun sport .well done
great idea!! great performance świetny pomysł!! świetne wykonanie
Awesome bud!! I was thinking exactly that : you should be running a generator of some sort off the trailer axle. A reverse PTO of sorts, really awesome build my friend. Kudos!
good way to hall the mother in law around
jajaja true
Mother in law JOKES
I love it
Whats next? a trailer lift kit?
Wow great job!
Definitely one of a kind. Nice job!
Nice job
nice work man
Man this is an Older Video BUT DAMN MAN,, Good JOB.. NICE IDEA!!
Outstanding.
Dude you could totally pull another one with this one. Make a jeep train video!!!
j e e p t r a i n
Sweetest
you should throw a pulley on the drive shaft yolk on the trailer and have a belt to an alternator so it has its own power source and zero draw on your battery!
It has tv PS3 & a large battery bank, check out XJ Cherokee Modification Group on FaceBook for more info
or get a high output alternator...dumbass:)
Nice! Thanks for the video. Awesomeness!
Im doing this for my fishing stuff with my XJ
Good job! I would have kept front firewall and windshield though. Not sure why you put turn signals on it either. But hey, looks functional, I dig it.
Many issues for the length, wheel base and weight. It is inspected, whole different set of problems with that much tongue weight. Others have done the firewall cut, it totally resembles a broken XJ being towed. I like the look of the wrapped body lines & turn signals were left over parts I didn't want to toss out.
ah, yea I see your point. Still a good build. Good Job!
Sounds like the music with Selma Hyak daincing with snake
now I want too build one.
Odusevljen sam,sjajno odradjeno..
Really entertaining video
So I watched this video and decided to do the same thing. I have a 2005 jeep liberty that was totaled. I have started gutting it but I don't have much time to work on it constantly. I would love to get some advice or possibly get some more specific details on how you set up the doors for the front. I am going to be posting videos of the process so check it out if your interested.
also how do you lock and unlock the trailer and can you roll down your windows?
Soo cool
That's awesome!! Anyone know what this would cost to have someone build? That includes having to buy an old truck from the scrapers yard. Thanks and great job!
Good question!
That song is after dark slowed down from dusk till dawn
Now thats something do don't see everyday.
😎 COOL ! 👍
That's one way to add 3rd row
Great Job Bro Hot Boxing Heaven
looks really cool. wouldn't mind something like that for my ramcharger. only thing is you should've gone bigger on the speakers.
nice job start making them. people would by them I know I would
If you could hook up a drive shaft to the trailer you would be 6x6 in instead of 4x4 in lol
