    thank you. I thought my battery was swelling because my case had separated in the corner near the power plug. But after watching your video I saw my battery was nowhere near that corner. All I needed to do was snap that corner back. But at least now I know how to change the battery if needed in the future

    So I hope this message reaches the one who made the video.
    Your video was not good.. it was perfect. It was so easy for me to replace my battery with your guidance. And doing stuff like this makes me very very nervous so while watching your video I missed like 6 seconds towards the beginning where you pointed out the silver screws that were under the "tape" or whatever those sticky gray things are that you said to remove to see the screws. Well.. I saw all the screws in the corners under the tape/sticky gray stuff... but I zoned out when you mentioned the screws in the middle under the tape/sticky gray stuff. So the backing just wasn't coming off at all and I kind of forced it and cracked the backing.. but like it's a very very very little crack. I don't even think it's a crack it's more like a minor bend if that. Anyway when I got it off I realized that was harder than you showed so I scrolled your video and saw what I missed 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️. Lol. But it was all good I think and got the battery replaced. Put everything back together and it's fine.
    Two things I want to tell you since you're an expert:
    1. I didn't use an HP battery. It's from Amazon cuz HP didn't have their actual brand battery in stock (my part #).
    2. Also Amazon website when I bought this battery did say towards the bottom of web page that it's the correct part # hp asked me to get (and actually it showed many compatible part #s) .... but the part # on battery that came to my house was a little different. Apparently it was pretty much the same or compatible part # cuz the battery fit perfect and the laptop is on (tho I had to patiently press power button 5+ times and give a few seconds in between). My battery part # is HT03XL. And the one I just installed in laptop is TF03XL.
    Last thing I want to ask: is there something specific to do once my new battery is in and computer on? Or just use it like normal? Should I for example drain battery life since it's new or power it on and off ... or what advice do you have to maximize battery life and also safety right after install? Keep in mind it's my day off tomorrow and 2 a.m. right now where I live so won't see your message for 9-10 hours at least 😅. My day off I need to sleep a little extra lol.
    Again thanks for posting the vid. You literally made me so much less nervous and replace my battery very easily.

      Glad it was useful 😊 Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P
      Regarding the usage, its very important that you follow the steps for the initial charge and discharge steps:
      make sure the laptop is off and plug the charger and leave it charging for 5-6h
      then you want to remove the charger and power on and slow discharge (put a movie in a loop)
      and once the battery is to the lowest then power off and leave it charging for 5-6h and then after that use it as you wish.
      gnight :)

      @@uFixTek I followed your advice to the letter. I powered off and charged for a little over 5 hours. I unplugged power and ran the battery down (which took forever 😅).. and then at 7% battery the computer locked itself. I had to plug in power for it to let me turn on the screen. I immediately shut down the computer and kept power plugged in (for 5-6 hours, but technically from 11 p.m. my time until 9 a.m. my time, because I'm going to sleep for work and start work at 9 a.m.).
      Also a question: what is the best way to use laptop as far as when to plug in power cord and when not to? I work from this computer for 9 hours per day for 5 days straight... Tuesday through Saturday. I use a web based call center software pretty much the whole work day, as well as a couple other programs. So usually I leave it plugged in when I start work until I finish work. And then I remove the power cord until the next work morning and I plug it back in. Please advise.
      Also I liked this video cuz it helped so much and don't mind subscribing cuz your videos may save my butt again.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  2 года назад +1

      the best way of the using the battery is to have it plugged in at full charge always, and once a month do a slow discharge and power off and full charge. during the day make sure when charger is plugged you have full charge before using.
      the only bad usage would be, to turn on the laptop and use the battery and once the battery is low and you plugging it in and using and charging at the same time, that is horrible for the battery and the charger.
      so use it with battery only and once its low power off and charge.
      or once its fully charged keep the charger plugged in and use it all day. once a month do a full discharge cycle

      @@uFixTek another question my man. And thanks again for all you've helped me with. My HP support assistant is telling me to calibrate new battery.. but I'm doing the steps it says to calibrate and it's not really working. The hp support assistant still says "needs calibration" and says if that "needs calibration" sign doesn't change I have to change battery 🤦🏽‍♂️. What's your advice?

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  2 года назад +1

      to be honest with you, uninstall that Trash assistance. its just a marketing to make sure you spend money early. if you battery starts going bad the bios will give a MSG when you power on and it will tell you, battery must be replaced. you can ignore the msg and press enter and continue, or and order new battery. the software its pure marketing. so uninstall that and when you get a msg on boot then you will know. this laptop has smart bios.
      this is the msg im talking about:

    @UFIXTEK Hope you've been doing good. It's been 9-10 months now since my battery replacement which I used your video and advice to do. My battery still does okay when I do my monthly slow discharge and it stays plugged in at all times (unless I do my monthly slow discharge). Currently my battery life percentage keeps dropping about 1% every couple days or so while plugged in as well. It was at 99% while fully plugged in and wouldn't go higher... and now I'm at about 83% while plugged in and it will not go higher. Clearly it's about time to replace the battery so I already ordered a new one - the same one from last time. This is not your premium laptop... it's a $300 HP from Walmart with Core i3. I did upgrade my RAM with BestBuy to 12GB and I have them do a tune-up every now and again. I use the laptop a lot.. I mean a lot. So It's expected that this battery is now close to being replaced. Anyway I have your video and advice so I'll be good but one problem I have: one of the screws that needs to be removed on the bottom of the laptop (just one screw) is warped and my philips screw driver won't remove it. Not sure exactly which screw it was but I believe it was one of the smaller darker ones. So I bought a "Screw Extractor" from an auto parts store.. says it easily removes broken screws of size range 3/32" to 5/32" --- will this suffice to remove that screw or no? Is that measurement of 3/32" to 5/32" based off the head of the philips screw or the base? Also I mean how do I go about removing that warped screw with the extractor? Would love your help again... once I can safely get that screw out and put it back in after battery replacement I'll be good. Your advice and video are on point :). Please let me know when you can.

      @@uFixTek Hey it's me again what's up? So I went to Walmart found a 2 mm flathead screwdriver and that was able to get out the warped black screw underneath the rubber strip (n corner near hinges). Used your video again to replace battery, did full power up charge with it turned off, woke up today and doing complete slow discharge with power cord removed and once the battery drains and laptop shuts off I'll do a full power up. I made a note as well to do the slow discharge once a month and otherwise keep the power cord plugged always. I want to thank you again for your help. Still liked this video and subbed your channel. One day when I get a brand new laptop I'll go through your other videos.

      🫠Regarding your question about how long the battery should last, it all depends on the display brightness, how many applications and background programs you have open, and if you have any other USB devices connected. Normally, if the brightness is under 60% and you are using it for light office tasks, it should last 4-5 hours. Under heavy load, it should last 1-2 hours.
      Cheers! 🍻
