Coach Spo is always several steps ahead, it's always great to watch as a neutral fan. Unfortunate that Butler got injured (and no Rozier), because it looked Miami got it.
Bron essentially said it was him and spo changing summer 2011 that led to the heat unlocking that team. Spo is that guy
@@bentorres-betgamingand remember lebron tried to get spo fired too one time. Good thing he listened
They could have Butler and Rozier If the Sixer also got a healthy Embiid and Melton and Covington back themselves.
@@A_valeska66that was a rumour
@@matthewford3778 Nope, Pat Riley himself confirmed it. It's been blown way out of proportion over the years by the media tho since LeBron never actually asked Pat to fire Spo, but yes it's true
Gotta give Nick nurse a credit, if the coach was doc rivers, Sixers wouldn’t figure it out in 2nd half.
For Butler getting Injured? What’s the saying.. “better lucky than good”? You 🤡
@@draftmagicagain1000 what are you on about, respectfully?
@@kaysheye7784 Exactly.
@@draftmagicagain1000 ?
Did he figure it out or were the heat playing 4 on 5 now ?
Man if butler didn't get hurt, heat could go far
Nah they were gonna be out in the first round. They'd put up a fight but they wouldn't beat Boston this year. Even then, you'd have to mention that clearly Embiid isn't fully healthy either
@@smgyro1476that's everyone said last year and yet they got in to the finals😂
@@emersonberania3997 but jimmy is actually out for a couple of weeks now so heat have no chance against Boston
@@emersonberania3997dude. Boston doesn’t choke in the first round like Milwaukee does.
No
Finally coach you make content about Miami heat
Only cuz they lost. He’s petty like that.
@@draftmagicagain1000 that's would be embarrassing man, why would coach Nick do that?
@@rind9585 He's a hater. He's petty af which is why he's lost a lot of subscribers over the years
i love the quick uploads coach nick, looking forward to the playoffs and your channel, keep it coming! great content as always
great great stuff as usual coach. Thanks for breaking this down.
Hey coach longtime fan of channel. Also life long sixers fan.
I wish you showed more of the sixers breaking down the zone. They did score 66 points in the second half. Also the game changed with batum shooting. It would be nice to see how he got them off against the zone.
Finally would have like a breakdown of maxey getting into the gaps of the zone.
i think these vids are much much better than the livestream ones. not much quality content on those…or you guys might need to talk about how you can improve your livestream content as well
I like that this a video about the Heat’s great unbeatable zone defense and as the video goes on you just see the score get closer and closer until the Sixers have the lead
Yea that’s cuz the heat went something like 8-26 from the field at one point. 2-15 coming from herro
That’s cus butler got hurt
lol, butler injury killed them
U sound like u didnt watch the game... This zone destroyed the sixers in the 1st half but Butler got injured and the heat offense was bad
@@bballbreakdown Sure...but the same thing could be said about Embiid who is still recovering and is clearly not back into shape too.
Gave you a thumbs up. I don't think about it often but if you're going to have the ad at the end, will always thumbs up
Miami is using a mix of the 1-2-2 and 2-1-2 zone. This type of zone defense counters P&R-based motion offense. You need a stationary man standing right on the free throw line so the wings have somebody else to pass to, not just the corner and back to the top of the key. Having the man in the middle, especially someone as talented as Embiid, can create a lot of openings.
watching heat zone defense is so satisfying
Nick Nurse is the mad scientist of coaches. He's the Dr Frankenstein of the NBA.
He’s great when the 8th seed only star player gets injured. Just like he drew it up in the locker room.
@@draftmagicagain1000you sound hurt
*Your videos are really great, thx for that* 😍
Good.

If you watch the Lakers then watch the Heat right after, you'll really appreciate how great coaching can make big a difference in the game
In the words of Kenny, this defense is a living organism.
I just saw a video from Awful Coacing about this same Zone, but he was criticizing it. As a Heat fan, I don't know what to think
Awful coaching normally doesn’t cover zone defenses so he might not have a full understanding of it.
That guy is entertaining but he isn’t a coach and doesn’t really get much of his analysis right….
All that guy does is pick and choose plays to nitpick and yell about things. He's fun to watch sometimes but hes mostly just shock humour, not a ton of real analysis. Obviously Not everyone always agrees on everything but I'd trust Coach Nick way more with this stuff
Awful coaching is more like a comedy than an actual breakdown. Sure he clearly understands basketball and has great pointers but half of his takes are exaggerations or complete misses. He can flag nearly identical plays as fantastic stuff or makes me vomit. Just for fun, try to mute him and see what you believe went wrong or right.
He carried us on his shoulder last night
Batum was fricking cooking last night
Why aren’t they setting flare screens off ball?
Nice W heat
😂
Was really disappointed in how Philly attacked the zone they got some looks sure but it seemed more to be open by accident and not by design. Though nurse would have done a better job preparing the guys for this.
I wonder what Jordans stats were against zone? Hmmm
Great analysis. The Sixers zone in the third quarter also slowed the heat down
Jimmy's injury also slowed the Heat down
@@kingdeedeehow many more excuses y’all have?
@@Haddonfield63 I mean when your best player injures his knee and gets ruled out for several weeks, your team isn’t gonna be as good… not sure why that’s difficult for you to understand
@@kingdeedee I’m asking you how many more excuses you have. That’s all I asked
4:47 "Let's hope we see some better execution by the...Bulls"?
Yea, the Bulls play the Heat next
Crazy how depending on the clips you use can change a story. Here we see the good from their zone but on Awful Coaching’s channel just explains how horrible their zone was
Actually even with some of the same clips lol that pull-up midrange from batum he was just ripping into Bam for guarding the empty paint
@@tylers8054 well when you analyze a full game there are plenty of good and bad possessions for each team. I would say that AC often hyperbolizes things for entertainment purposes. From watching this game I could see that the Heat's defense was pretty good at forcing many turnovers from the 76ers. Heat just couldn't do anything impactful on offense.
Miami heat need Terry Rozier asap and Kevin love need to be a starter and delon wright needs more minutes
the lack of movement in the first half and their confusion on what to do against the zone is actually embarrassing for the best basketball players on this planet.
Could Amoeba have been borrowed from football (soccer)? This is th way most teams defend with a front 3.
Batum😂
Just like everyone else
I think you missed something critically important. KEVIN LOVE IS PLAYING DEFENCE!
Still so mad that we lost this game.
This team just LOVES to choke you'd think they're Trevor Bauer
Where are the Flare Screens? Isn't that the most basic and obvious counter for a zone?
For those wondering, the best way to attack a 2-3 zone is by hunting the 2 v 1. Pause at 2:32. This should be a swing, swing, for a 2 on 1 (Hield & Oubre vs Jacquez). That is how you attack any zone. Hunt the 2 v 1.
3:40, If Oubre is on the wing and not the block, you have an easy 2 v 1 (Oubre & Maxey vs Jimmy). This is easy stuff.
4:06, If Kyle Holds the corner, Open 3.
4:35, Where is the 2 v 1? We found it!
For sure and more specifically attack the gap between the forward and the guard
The best way is to overload 1 side by using a baseline runner. Thats exactly how oubre got open for that and1 under the basket at the end. He was behind the zone and Butler couldnt react in time as he couldnt see him.
Oubre is the Aaron Gordon Philly needed Tobias Harris to be
Gordon us miles ahead of oubre in playing defence while oubre is a much better shooter. I'd say Batum is filling that Gordon role on this team and oubre is more like mpj
@@maartenvz Batum. If they are so good why is Toby starting!?!?
Sixers offense was getting Neutralized by the zone because Sixers offense is based in getting the ball to Embiid followed by options. Zone effective cuts the Embiid motion and forces the 6ers to start with options. 😢 This is the main reason Embiid gets screwed in the Playoffs year after year 😭
So explain Embiid and Maxey beating the Heat’s zone last week in Miami then
@@kaysheye7784jimmy butler injury
Philly really embarrassed themselves in that first half, with their debutante-like tentativeness.
They got bailed out cuz the 8th seeds 1 star player got injured.
@@draftmagicagain1000sixers star is literally injured like what lmao
Hey coach here's Awful Coaching's take on what the heat did in the same game against Philadelphia.
This game was embarrassing for the 76ers. They came back from the 8th seed whose star player got injured, At home. They’re looking great and ready to take on the 2 seed 😂
how was it embarrassing when the 76ers' best player (who are only 1 seed above the 8th seed Heat at the time) was injured and overcame a huge lead in the 3rd quarter?
@@kaysheye7784 76ers have a league MVP, and 2 other all star players. Maxey and Tobey. And yes, Tobey is, the team designated him as such with the Max Contract.
@@draftmagicagain1000 Tobias LMAO
@@kaysheye7784 3 all stars to 1 all star. I don’t think Heero made an all star yet.
@@draftmagicagain1000 tell me the 3 all stars
old habits die hard... if you've been playing against man-to-man forever it's hard to get used to passing the ball right away, before the zone were able to assume their defensive positions. You play that catch five-six times and the guard will be out of breath on his a$$ watching the triple splashing. even in the few clips in this vid there were multiple opportunities for easy layups or open triples if only the sixers passed the ball quick enough and stopped freaking moving - just stay there, pass the ball, wait for defense to break, high-school textbook. go back to fundamentals, nba.
Always giving the other team a diarrhea. 😂
Why do you think Nurse wasn't able to adjust? I thought he was a top 5 coach in the NBA?
did you watch the video? they made adjustments at the end.
Nick nurse made adjustments all game long. I guess y’all didn’t watch the second half
I really hope the Heat knock out the Celtics in the first round. East would be wide open
Imho any breakdown of this zone after butler was hurt doesn't do this zone the service it deserves. This zone was a PROBLEM for the sixers until Jimmy got hurt
It was so genius that they lost
Someone didn’t watch the gAme.
@@draftmagicagain1000 I’m sure a lot of people didn’t watch the game. I watched, the heat lost.
@@calebford6318 🙋♂️
@@draftmagicagain1000 how’d that heat zone do today?
@@calebford6318 Look Thor. You got me 🤣
but they lost tho...
But this is the BEST Play-In Tournament ever for now and the heat vs sixers match looks like an ECF. And if they'll gonna face each other again on ECF then it might be bloodbath.
"Genius" as they still lose the game
True but they completely flummoxed the Sixers offense
Celtics cant wait to bust this zone defense.
Butler choked again.
Horrible music choice
“Genius of heat zone” Heat lose lol
Jerry Tarkanian Amoeba Defense
That zone defense literally lost us the game last night. I saw Bam and Tyler guarding fucking AIR like 10 times when they could have called a switch and improved coverage drastically.
I was frustrated with it at times too, but the stats -- .77 points per possession -- are quite ridiculous. Holding any team in the NBA to something that low over a sustained period of the game means it was working. It doesn't really matter if it didn't feel like it was working to us. The thing that lost us the game was our offense (no shock), Batum turning into Prime Kawhi, and a couple unlucky bounces. The margin was almost nothing and we put ourselves in position to win with just about everyone having a horrible game offensively.
Right. I thought Hero killed them on both ends but overall, the zone was effective which is why they played it so much
@@bballbreakdown Herro was fucking 9 for 27 FG and 4-14 3pters...
