It's hard to imagine anyone not liking Peter Tork! He was such a sweet guy with such a cool smile! Peter seemed egoless. Peter seemed so approachable. Peter was my favourite Monkee! Of all The Monkees, Peter is the one I would've liked to have met. Did Peter ever say that he never liked Michael? It must've been a personality clash between Michael and Peter. I always admired the fact that Michael wrote "Beat Of A Different Drum"! Linda Ronstadt did a great cover of that song with The Stone Poneys in the 60s. The Monkees brought a lot of joy to my life watching them on television back in the 60s as a 9 year old. Great times! Rest In Eternal Peace ~ Michael Nesmith, Davy Jones and Peter Tork.

If anyone wants to watch the full interview there are several channels that have it. Micky was just on tour, saw him at Penn’s Peak in PA. It’s very obvious how much he misses Mike, Peter and Davy. His tributes to each are right from his heart. Mike is just being honest and open about his feelings here, even if he didn’t like Peter he sure as heck loved him.
The Monkees have like 10 classic songs. To have 1 is great. “Pleasant Valley”, “Stepping Stone”, “She” are really strong hits. Monkees were a great band.

Moved out to LA during the 80s. Got a gig with the New Christy Minstrels. Suddenly I had access to people and places through that connection. Met all of the Monkees. The press and public at large were a bit dismissive, but when seen up close they were all quite exceptional musicians. Especially Peter Tork. He was astonishingly good. They all had major respect inside the industry. At bar-b-cues there was always a whole set of Monkees songs played and sung. They had alot of love and respect as they became elder statesmen.
Absolutely Amen 💖 peter knows you loved and cared, you just didn't know how to share your Spirit. We can see you absolutely cared too ❤ Absolutely Amen 💖🥰🌹
Very true. So many things don't matter at the time of our passing. The fights, the disagreements, money and superficial things. Love, pain, creativity. These are the things that last..
His tears are from a place in his heart knowing no matter what he says now Peter Tork cannot hear them. The Monkees were an iconic part of the baby boomer generation. I myself was a fan of the show and find it sad there wasn’t a reconciliation and peace before Peter’s death. It’s never too late to bury the hatchet.
I met Peter Tork back in the 80's when I was a Corpus Christi Police Officer. I was working security at a Concert that was featuring the Monkees (minus Mike Nesmith) along with several reunion tour bands. I must say that Peter Tork was one of the NICEST people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! ❤ I asked him for an autograph and he told me that he didn’t have anymore pictures with him but that when their set was finished, he would go back to his bus and get me one. I thanked him but I thought to myself, "Not gonna happen.." Later that evening, as I was working security, I saw him coming through a crowd of people toward me and when he reached me, he said, "I'm going to go get the picture for you. Come on and I'll get it." I followed him and waited outside of his bus for him and he came back out and said, "Here it is and I signed it for you!" He was such a genuinely nice man.
There are family members sometimes that don't get along any further than being civilized, but they are part of us in spite of that. And we lose a part of ourselves when they are gone... these four young men shared unbelievable experiences for decades... it's the end of an era in all our lives. We miss them. Thank you for sharing this...
I loved the Monkees... I watched their TV show and listened to their music all through my childhood. I loved them all... I was only about 9 or 10 when I first saw them and I thought they were all really funny and had a great band. I never had a favorite because I loved them all. How nice it is to see Mike Nesmith again... he's emotional because no matter what their differences were they were both a part of something much bigger than themselves that they created together.

I love this level of honesty, if one’s not liked in life it’s so hypocritical on death to claim the opposite. Mike demonstrates they didn’t see eye to eye but acknowledged the importance of his existence in Mike’s life. Now they are both gone and found peace.
You can deeply LOVE someone, yet bit like them much... yet, they STILL have connection and STANDING in your life! Very common amongst siblings & other family members!

I miss my loved ones but I'm at an age that I'm losing long time friends and I have to say it's a different kind of really deep sorrow. I'm glad I am growing older, but I hate this aspect. A lifetime of friendship can never be replaced.
Honesty.
RIP Mike, Peter and Davy
Bless you boys!
We love you Mickey
Little Davy Jones was annoying
@@gerry9306 , Jealous much?
Davy Jones was a Tony award-winning actor who was adored by young beautiful girls everywhere he went.
And you??
@@maskedmarvyl4774 Look Mack, he was adored by 12 year olds and by you. I'm jealous, yeah. 🙄
Sorry to disrupt your jabs, but Davey Jones' step into the limelight created a phenomenon known as David Bowie.
@@JW...-oj5iw when the other David Jones changed his name to David Bowie it was his only option, otherwise he too would have been relegated to Tiger Beat and 12 year olds. Little Davy Jones represented the low point of 60's music. Bowie on the other hand was one of the high points of 70s music.
The Monkees were a joyfully fun relief for me in a violent household so I'm thankful to Mike and Peter for not making their animosity obvious.
The Monkees were great! Their songs will always be loved and remebered! Ilisten to them to this day.
Michael was always the down-to-earth and honest Monkee. Makes me aad to see Michael break down.💔
Michael was a fab singer songwriter RIP dear man xxx
Sometimes there are people we know whom we're not so fond of, but in the end they tend to be much closer to us than we think, and when they're gone it hurts us like losing a loved one.
I just can't understand that.
So true
@@bobsebring2819 same here. It's hypocritical
Very well said.
So you watched this video and came up with that? Great observation, a true original!!
Even though they didn't like each other, when one dies, you still shed a tear for them. Probably even more.😢
Rest In Peace Peter.
You were always my favorite.
Whenever times were tough, listening to the Monkees always brought me up.
Thank you guys. Your music smoothed the bumps of life.
Oddly, they were very much alike in many ways. And repected each other’s talent absolutely. I saw Mike just before he died and he said much the same thing but added they “were brothers.” Family can be hard.
I was too young when The Beatles hit the world. But I was seven years old when The Monkees TV show came out. The Monkees introduced me to the world of Rock music. I owe them my everlasting thanks. 🎸🤟
They taught me humor. It seemed when i was a toddler, every show on tv had songs or singing performance.
@guitary. I watched the show for the songs too, when it first came on the air in 1966 I believe. I was only 6, and I was too young to understand the humor. 😊
Love is more powerful than liking or not liking someone.
It doesn't really matter how close you are to a person. When you've been around them for a good part of your life, you're going to feel it when they're gone. That's the reality.
I love Mike Nesmith’s honesty. And it’s true, you may not like each other, but you are brothers as someone said.
Thank all four of you...together
We will truly miss you...together
Together you were great...thank you
The Monkees have like 10 classic songs. To have 1 is great. “Pleasant Valley”, “Stepping Stone”, “She” are really strong hits. Monkees were a great band.
...I think they have like 75.
Believer was the best
No they were not a great group they were manufactured
@@xxlionroarxxxxxxxx4438 "...a manufactured image with no philosophies", you mean?
They were there eras version of a boy band.
It was 1997 I was 13 and Nick at night aired a random show called the Monkees... They became my whole world. I had the comic, tv show recorded on VHS and every album records and CDs. I was in complete love with Micheal. This really touched me. 😢❤❤❤ I still know ever word to papa Jean blues❤
I was a huge Monkees fan in the 80’s. Bought tapes and watched them on Nick at Night all the time!
@gatorsmid. Did you first see them on MTV around 1985? They became so popular again after that, they started touring again. 😊
@oldiesgeek454 no I was born in 82. Just a weird kid who loved 60s/70s music and Lucille Ball , M.A.S.H., and Columbo 🤣🤣
@@oldiesgeek454 I believe so? I know I had some tapes around age 13(1984).
@lanareed. 😊 👍
It's sad that two members of a band who were SO BELOVED by their fans couldn't share that love between themselves.
“It’s never too late to reconcile” that’s my takeaway from Mr Nesmith’s heartfelt testimonial
He didn't say that
@@barbieblue3336 and if you read it carefully again you will see I never attributed the quote to him. It’s MY takeaway.
An honest, wonderful gentleman.
This made me so incredibly sad, and it made me more emotional knowing the fact that it’s the one year anniversary of Mike’s tragic passing. I miss both of them so much, and I wish they would’ve had better friendship. ☹️
I'm breaking into tears 😢
Then you definitely don't want to watch the last concert with Nez and Mickey.
I grew up with these guys and have several of their songs on my phone and listen to them over the intercom at my job. I miss them so much. My sisters and I were born in Houston. I found out recently that Mike was born in the same hospital as my little sister. Love you guys. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
They may not have liked each other, but they loved each other. ❤
Mike said in another interview that The Monkees were comrades in arms. I agree with that. Having said that Micky is the only soldier left on the battlefield. R.I.P. Peter, Michael, Davy, and Bob Rafleson the creator of The Monkees.
He was always so real.
Peter was my favorite but I LOVED LOVED LOVED you Four with my WHOLE HEART! I was your target audience; I’m closing in on 70 but I’ll always be a 15 year old Monkees Lover till I take that Last Train to Clarksville!
Me too! They were my first concert, and I was such a huge fan! I’ll be 70 this month, and they were a large part of my growing up.
His soul overcame the egos that they had. God Bless them both ❤🎉
He may say they never liked each other. But Mike did lovePeter
What a beautiful expression of unconditional love, and no attachment to what was true feelings, very honorable, not often seen or felt
I've seen MN in many interviews ... and he seemed a genuine individual. Genuine character of kindness - even while becoming a millionnaire at a young age.
I grew up with the Monkees. I own every album they ever made, I watched every episode of their show, saw them in concert, and saw their movie. They are my childhood. They made me happy when it was hard to find anything to be happy about. They were and always be in my heart. Blessings to you, Mike, Davie, Peter, and Mickey. ❤
I have new respect for Mike. I loved their show and their music.
I can’t believe they didn’t like each other. They both seemed like such decent fellows
Absolutely Amen 💖 peter knows you loved and cared, you just didn't know how to share your Spirit. We can see you absolutely cared too ❤
Absolutely Amen 💖🥰🌹
Someone once asked me if, when someone dies, is there anything you'll regret not having said or done with them? If yes, then do it now.
What if that thing includes telling them what an evil piece of slime they are, and throwing them out of a window?
@@maskedmarvyl4774That's totally up to you!
@@sucappaert9260 , Thanks, that's what the voices in my head keep telling me!
Very true. So many things don't matter at the time of our passing. The fights, the disagreements, money and superficial things.
Love, pain, creativity. These are the things that last..
@@sucappaert9260iii is out ú😮😮😮Ty just wanted 😢y😢😢😢😮
Sometimes your enemy becomes your inspiration. You wanna out do them. This is raw and real and beautiful.
This was so touching. They went through a lot together and in the end they obviously had more than just “a civil truce”.
This broke my heart. They may not have liked each other, but there was love there.
…..we often find in cases like this that this grief is to do with his own regrets, personal guilt and shame knowing that there was a great deal left unresolved between the two of them. We can be pretty self absorbed us humans
It's hard watching your past fade away . Friends , memories , music it seems like it all gets smaller and smaller . I believe in an afterlife and I worry that some or all of this life won't be remembered . I'm not in control of that ...I love it for now . PK
You can have eternal life with Jesus. Once ur in heaven you won’t remember the past and you will have a new heavenly name and a job!! The angels will sing if you accept Jesus ❤❤
Im astounded !! Mike and Peter were my 2 favs....so sweet and soft spoken. I never knew this. I watched their show bk in the day. The show was so great. You would never know ! 😢
You really liked him Mike, you just showed the world my friend, it's OK and I really believe he liked you, your both likeable guys.
When Mike Nesmith talked about Peter like this . I think he didn't know how to show his love to a monkee member until something happens .And that's when the real love comes out cause they were like a family band.
That was going to be my point... some people may not like each other but I feel Papa Nes loved Peter.
You can love without liking.
Lesson is to put aside the things holding you from making peace and sharing with family and friends. Tomorrow isn't promised to us.
He may not have liked Peter but found out he nevertheless loved him
You never know when you truly love someone until you lose them!!! Always be kind and civil, nothing wrong with being humble!!
Just like when Davy died I remember peter did the same thing Broke down U know It happens U always Feel guilt in the end Even after that Frenid and bandmate is Gone rip davy peter and Michael
Peter had great stage presence, he held that bass like a rock star, nice and low
You guys were great. You were always my fave, Mike.
Monkees Forever! ❤️
I love this level of honesty, if one’s not liked in life it’s so hypocritical on death to claim the opposite. Mike demonstrates they didn’t see eye to eye but acknowledged the importance of his existence in Mike’s life. Now they are both gone and found peace.
I had the chance to meet Mike in 1980. I'll always remember it.
God Bless Mike. RIP Peter. You guys were fun to watch as a child. Thank you.
I was a HUGE Monkies fan aroung the 1965 mark, and still like them.............
You can deeply LOVE someone, yet bit like them much... yet, they STILL have connection and STANDING in your life! Very common amongst siblings & other family members!
Wow! Thanks for the great music guys! Never realized there was only one left! The Monkees were my favorite group. Still listen to their songs.
He's crying for his friend when they were young. Life can end so fast.!✝️💋🌈
This is a great lesson. Show kindness, and respect even to people you don’t like because we are not here for a long time and regret is a terrible thing.
You both were very much loved from my age, born in 59 I grew up with you both and Mikey and David. Saturday morning was awesome way to grow up.
