Big fan of the channel. The new Trax is a big improvement over the last Trax in every measure. We just bought an Envista Avenir, which the wife loves. I'm thinking about getting the Trax. I do
believe the Activ trim gets the power seat (for some reason), which is the same price as the RS version. It should be noted I recently traded in a Trailblazer RS that I really enjoyed. But for
$4-5K less hard to argue with the current Trax. Again, keep up the good work with the channel.

Absolutely right. The Trailblazer feels largely irrelevant now.

For us budget minded types, this vehicle checks all the boxes and then some! I'm going with the 1RS and will have most of it payed for with my savings. Cars are just waaayyy overpriced, and I haven't had a car payment in over twenty years! This will be a huge upgrade from the 2004 outback that I use for my daily driver!

Great review and I love your wife’s viewpoint! I bought this car for my daughter 24 Chevy Trax LT with two extra packages. We love it and for the price you can’t beat it! On the Activ trim the driver side seat is powered…but it’s only on that trim.

Last time I was in a car without an electric seat well that would be this morning. Most cars in the budget range have manual seats, it's just the name of the game in the budget segment. We have a 2018 (my daughters) Fiesta and a 2020 (my commuter) Hyundai Accent neither have electric seats. My accent is even a manual LOL. That said the highest trim Trax has a powered drivers seat.

Clearly, she was deeply affected by this, even though we both grew up humble and probably didn't have a power driver's seat in any car until we bought the aforementioned Suburban. Haha!

The encores/trax has been rocking these 1.2/1.3 engines for 10+ years. Keep the maintenance up. Turbos last about 100-200k miles, and about 1700 to replace. Other than that, they are pretty rock solid engines and cars.

It’s not even about a budget minded thing sometimes. Here’s the big thing. This vehicle has more features than my C300 Coupe at half the price. The Benz (21 model) has no touch screen, no adaptive cruise control, no lane departure, and a clunky wheel interface for everything …etc. Sure, it’s a luxury vehicle and looks good…but…it’s double the price. So, I picked the Activ for my daily commute / work vehicle. Yes, the Trax is more entry level in its appointments. This re-design is a home run. It looks good. It will get you around and do all you need it to. It doesn’t need AWD. It’s not fast. It’s not a Corvette and it’s not meant to be. It does share functionality on the entertainment system with the Corvette though - big plus for me as I like the interface on my 22 Corvette HTC. The Trax has a lot for the price and do you know what? It’s 100% worth it. Oh and the ACTIV has power driver’s seat for those that have difficulty with the manual seat.

Thanks for the comment and update! All excellent points. And we've had plenty of people pointing out to Megan that her wealthy fantasies can be satisfied by the ACTIV trim :-)

@@jax1079 one additional note: I suspect others, like myself, might look at this as an inexpensive option for business use.
I can load this thing up for trade shows and road trips of say 4-6 hours, client visits, etc. I can use it and not have a bit of guilt for the miles put on the vehicle. Bonus- Regular fuel! That will save you .60 per gallon. I have all the features to log that windshield time and make use of the drive. Car play! Touch screen!
For business use, this is a vehicle that will be accountant friendly! At $24,685 for the MSRP on the ACTIV - color me sold.
Most reviews continue to be focused on the first time buyer or small / young family. I think this vehicle could be a business / sales fleet workhorse in the making. There’s a segment that is virtually ignored. Rental agencies will also likely grab these up.

  • @lamontsmith8728

My Dad had an accident in his 2015 Equinox and had a 23 Trailblazer as a rental, diving that felt like a oddball cross between the Equinox and my 19 Trax. When he bought his new vehicle he got an upgraded 24 Trax LS that was equipped like a 1RS. Driving that was such a game changer for me that i decided to trade my 19 Trax in a couple months later for the new 1LT Trax.
I haven't missed the AWD so far, especially since the older Trax was operating in FWD only 90% of the time anyway. The value of the new model in the interior space upgrade alone was well worth it in my opinion. When my kids were younger it was fine, but as they got older i was inching closer and closer to the steering wheel than I was comfortable with. Now my seat stays right where it needs to be and no problems for me at 6'0 tall, 300+ pounds to sit comfortably in the rear.
Are there some improvements that could be made, sure. Any vehicle from any manufacturer can benefit from slight improvements. But overall, the Trax is a winner at the price point and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone interested.

@@jax1079 2024 Kona SE, SEL has a CVT and the N LINE and Limited has a 8 speed auto. Why would any budget buyer buy the N Line or Limited when with that price tag you can get a bigger CUV/SUV with more space and no turbo just an natural aspirated motor. Personally the 2024 Kona is too small.......

I’m a fan of the Trialblazer. But all specced-up (with, like, the pano roof & power lift gate, and the Driver Confidence & Adaptive Cruise and Sound packages), that gets you to nearly $35k, and it’s hard to make a case for a Trailblazer at that price. With the Trax, I’d have to say goodbye to the rear center armrest, AWD, and a 9-speed Automatic transmission, and take a regular sunroof (and less horsepower & torque). For about $9k less… I’m thinking… I mean, it SHOULD be a no-brainer, right? I might be more inclined to STILL spend $35k, and just get something BETTER than the Trailblazer. That much money will get you a lot from other brands.

    • @jax1079
      @jax1079  10 месяцев назад +1

You bring up a good point: the Trailblazer can be optioned up compared to the Trax, but doing so pushes the price pretty high relative some other possibly more compelling options whereas forgoing some of the frills nets you a vehicle that is as good or better than the Trailblazer in many ways and far cheaper. Getting into the mid $30k range opens up loaded versions of the Corolla Cross hybrid (much better gas mileage) and new Hyundai Kona (loaded with premium options), which further complicates things. I think it depends on what buyers want, but with vehicle prices soaring, the Trax will always be the smart (or at least more logical) choice.
