    The 2024 Chevrolet Trax has undergone a significant redesign from its 2022 model, even skipping a model year in order to introduce these updates. With a bigger, sleeker look, the latest Trax embodies much of the style and technology present in its larger sibling, the Chevy Blazer. Originally launched in 2013, the Trax was known for its compact size and affordability, but the cost had been increasing as the model aged. After being discontinued for 2023, the Trax returns in 2024 as a safer, visually appealing compact SUV, transitioning from its previous sub-compact status. Despite these enhancements and the general trend of rising car prices, it surprisingly comes with a lower price tag.

    Just bought one for my 16 year old daughter to drive to soccer, school and work and she is in love with this car. We love it for her and the safety features are amazing! The comfort, tech, and features are great and we didn’t want her in anything too quick. We shopped around for so many used and ended up w this and have never bought new. I’m an Audi/BMW owner and this car is fab. I’ve had Acura, Honda, Toyota, Lexus and have never bought American made. We wanted something safe and to carry her through college and more and it’s absolutely perfect. Our friend owns the Chevy dealership and he said he would sell this to everyone he can and expects this to be their biggest seller to date. He did not like the previous Trax, but highly recommended this and he is the best guy with enormous integrity. The car rides smooth and comfortable! Quiet and a great ride. Don’t think twice. We have had it under a week and it’s a great choice, value, and more.

    My fiancée and I just bought a 2024 Trax LT. When we first looked at it, we both went, "We don't want that f*ckin' thing" but the more we looked wt it, drove it, etc the more it grew on us. As a mechanic I was skeptical about the 1.2L turbo engine, however decided we would give it a chance. Had it a week as of writing this, and so far we love it. For the price, it gives so much, and is quite comfy.
    We originally were looking st either a Rav4 or a Corolla because we wanted Toyota reliability. However the Rav4 was slightly out of budget and the Corolla was smaller than our old car, or at least felt smaller... which my fiance can barely fit inside of as is. He fits right in the Trax. It ended up being a great compromise and offered a lot for the money. Dealerships around us can't get them in stock fast enough... we were lucky to even get one. So far we love it... barely 500 miles on the dash so far.
    Also the EPA rates it at 28mpg city, 32-34mpg highway.. on a flat road, doing 55/60MPH, it gets around 40-55MPG which is good for the wallet, as we do a lot of highway driving.

    • @onenikkione
      @onenikkione 11 месяцев назад +2

      As a mechanic you (should) know a 3 cylinder turbo engine will not last (I'm talking 250 - 350k miles like a Honda or Toyota engine)

      @@onenikkione Never said it would, hence why I said I was skeptical, like, I LITERALLY stated that in my comment, so maybe read?. I probably won't have it anywhere near that long anyway, so if it runs fine until I sell it in a few years I don't care TBH.

      How’s the highway merging speed?

    • @CalebHesse01
      @CalebHesse01 10 месяцев назад +4

      @sunitjoshi3573 Dude! For a tiny 3 cyl, this damn thing is really peppy! Admittedly it is no race car, but boy does it get up and go! Once you learn the turbo lag, I have no problems passing cars, merging, etc. I looked it up, apparently it's able to do 0-60 in 7-9s. Again nothing special by any means but pretty impressive for a tiny little 3 cylinder. It has a 6 speed auto so that helps too, shifts are pretty smooth. So far, I am very happy with this vehicle. If I can make it last me 7 years I will say it was a good purchase for the price
      It DOES drop down to around 8mpg when getting on the gas, but as soon as you even out it goes right back up. We average 45mpg and have it set to reset those numbers every 25 miles of driving. (Default is every 50 miles)
      The ONLY complaint I have so far is on older roads with barely any lines, it kinda freaks out. The button is right there to turn lane keep assist off though so it hasn't actually been an issue. I have only discovered ONE road where it was a problem and the road is pretty bad. Also if you fight the steering wheel when it tries pulling you over, it just submits and doesn't fight you too much so it's not like it will run you into a ditch as long as you're paying attention and not relying on the vehicle to do the work for you... as any good driver shouldn't

    I appreciate your sporty ideas too but that would make this a $30K vehicle. You know what wouldn’t? A manual transmission. A manual transmission on a small turbo engine would provide everything you’re asking for and more(maybe a little torque steer), and it would be affordable.

It's only less on paper, but my last compact Dodge Dart 2.4L SXT Rallye has the same 0 to 60 time as this 2024 Trax does and that vehicle was super fun to drive. And everyone who's tested this Trax says it's surprisingly not slow. It's not a sports car, but it's plenty fun without being one regardless of its numbers and engine size. I'm 100% getting this as my next vehicle and first SUVish crossover since all 6 of my other cars have been 4 cylinder and V8 cars.*

      @@MrWhis-fe5hs I really do like it. Believe it or not I traded a 2023 Audi S3 for it and also got my daughter an AVTIV. I couldn't come to terms with spending the money I spent on the Audi and since you can't get cooled or ventilated seats in the S3 I was roasting on hot days. The Evotex upholstery on the other hand is no where near as hot as the leather in my Audi and I will even dare to say it is no hotter than cloth. I have had more compliments on my Trax than another other vehicle I have owned and most people think it is a Blazer.
      I was really bummed it doesn't have a power drivers seat, but in reality the seating position is perfectly fine. I think GM made a brilliant decision to not put a CVT in the Trax because I wouldn't have bought mine or my daughters. Handling is great, the chassis is extremely rigid making it feel solid as a rock. There are no rattles or squeaks and it is very quiet on all surfaces. The brakes are excellent along with pedal modulation. I have been pleasantly surprised with the power of the micro 1.2 and you will only want for power in passing situations, but I rarely run in to that. Mine is Crimson Metallic and it looks great with the 19" wheels. It really would have been nice for Chevy to offer their 2.0T in the 2RS Trim because I think there are a lot of people that would happily pay for that option and the chassis would definitely handle it and add larger brakes. If you want one you better get it soon because they are selling like hotcakes and some dealers in my area are marking them up $3k to $5k depending on the trim. Fortunately I didn't have to deal with that and would never ever pay any amount over MSRP on any vehicle and I wish everyone else would do the same.

    Hey, the old Trax was easy to park and easy to maneuver. It wasn't a sub-compact SUV, it's a compact. At least if we're talking _actual_ dimensions. Not these ridiculous made-up ones that car-makers have been using for the last few years in describing their vehicles. In which a mid-size vehicle has magically transformed into a compact vehicle. Give me a break.
    Sure the older version of the Trax had some issues. And prices did go up in later model years. But to lose that excellent compact size means those who genuinely want a true compact SUV will be shopping other brands in order to get it. Those who want a Chevy Trailblazer but realize at the dealership that they can't swing the payments... Well, a good salesman will ask them to consider the new Trax instead.
    Also no, the term "hatchback" doesn't even remotely apply. It's a Wagon. Can we at least not pretend that our eyes are lying to us. It's a wagon.
