The Castle in the Forest was released in the first BDP on Bricklink. The very first that is, when they only did 10,000 copies each.

And yet, it was not an Ideas set, which is what he was covering.

Lego castles are almost always unaffordable but luckily you can MOC some really cool ones. I just made a decent red ninja/samurai castle for my son from stuff i we already had.

That’s cool, and ultimately the root of what Lego was about. Creating your own stuff

Love that witch's hut especially. The watermill is great too. Forestman's tavern is adorable.

My #1 is going to be the Castle of Brickwood Forest. I just love the rounded towers, which stand out from other castle sets we've gotten. The color combinations are wonderful, and the double horse drawn carriage is a nice bonus. Coming in second for me is the Medieval Fortress, which also has plenty of cylindrical towers. Hmmm... I must have a thing for round towers.

Those are some killer designs, thanks for sharing. I also love the Wolfpack themes, like the wolfpack fortress, I believe it’s the same designer as the vikings ideas set.

Castle of Brickwood Forest has that lovely, big round tower, which would have been nice to see. The Forestman Secret Inn is cool simply because it's small and compact and actually feels like it matches the old woodsman sets from back in the day. I agree with you on Afold's being number one - that side tower, in particular, was incorporated magnificently into the keep. The mountain fortress - which I was lucky enough to order - does have its charm, though. However, the one thing the latter is missing is SNOWY PINE TREES, which I will be adding to mine.

Yet another great video. Thank you! Terrific choices. I heartily agree. I increasingly wish that these talented creators would forego Ideas submission or even Bricklink and instead sell their MOC’s on Rebrickable. Lego approves so few sets to progress to production and those approved are often baffling choices.

You’re welcome. Thanks for the nice comment. Yeah it is a shame. I think would make sense if they could be able to sell the instructions (if rejected) through Lego that way all get a cut

Lego never should have discontinued the castle line

I'd really like to see a castle that sprawls outward more than upward. Get some half timber buildings inside the walls facing a bailey, not perched on top.
I appreciate that building upward lends itself to adding some rockwork and other landscaping, which itself can have a "underground" dungeon. But castles on a flatter surface characterize the look of the early Lego sets (375, 6073, 6074 and 6080) can be more easily made modular and have more space accessible inside the walls.

Since Lego isn't going to oblige us, it's good to see that brands like Funwhole and BlueBrixx have stepped in with plenty of castle and/or medieval-themed sets.

A lot of nice castle builds in the video. An incredible amount of people missed out on the mountain fortress. There are so many mountain fortresses on ebay now for over 1000, its criminal. Clearly they bought 2 to sell. As far as I'm concerned they can be stuck with them. Everyone should avoid them just to make a point.

Can these sets be found on rebrickable or something?

sets are amazing, but the problem is looking at last 20-30 years Lego in most cases preffers more open designes as its easier to play for kids. You have to remember that it should be in most cases be for kids and not adults. Also there has to be reasonable number of bricks, and mostly the most popular as this reduces costs.

There's now at least 3 versions of Castle of Brickwood Forest. I have used the Lego Ideas photos to build mine, which is now about 80% complete. It has some interesting building techniques and is probably too fragile for a standard Lego set.

My 2 favourite is Darkwood castle from povoq and most beautiful castle ever that designed Sleepless Night - Lord Afols Black knights Mountain Fortress. So bad that Lego did not release them :(
