Excited to find your channel when I searched for dish soap. So, yesterday at a Walmart in upstate NY, the Dawn was $9.60. For the big bottle, which isn't nearly as big as the one I had just used up. Crazy! Can I afford to buy it? Yes. Was I going to buy it at that price. No way! I just ordered the Sal Suds, but in the meantime had some Dr. Bronner's regular soap in the bathroom. (I use it in soap dispensers with the bits of leftover bar soap, among other things.) It was thick, but think like you're making cheese - sort of a curds and whey curdled look. Just thought I'd tell folks. I did do the dishes and they did get clean, but I'm looking forward to the correct ingredient coming in a couple days.
@@palominogirl2732 oh wow! That is crazy expensive! I hope this lasts longer and gives you savings. It's way more convenient to make it yourself than run to the store for sure.
I tried this before my Sal Suds came from AMZ, and I had some regular Dr. Bronner's soap. That was awful! However, my Sal Suds came the other day, and I LOVE this recipe. Without realizing it, I ordered Siberian Fir and Spruce Scent, but that's fine, I love the smell of it. Maybe it is all that scent, I just wanted a small bottle to see if I liked it. You get a whiff of vinegar from time to time, but mostly the pine scent. THANKS!! This is just what I was looking for. :)
It is a Dr. Bronner’s product used as a soap base…they are a soap/personal care company! Most of their products are plant based and biodegradable. You can use Sal Suds as a base to create lots of different cleaning uses…laundry, dishes, floor cleaner. Sal suds is concentrated and meant to be mixed with whatever cleaning recipe you like. It also rinses clean in hard water, which is what we deal with on the farm. We have a high level of minerals that makes it hard for the dishes to dry without streaks/mineral deposits.
It is a pretty low-sudsing soap, so I think it could be used in the dishwasher. I think the main thing you have to worry about is too many suds! I might add some washing soda to it. Martha Stewart has a good recipe for dishwasher soap on her website!
@@TheFarmhouseMom I used extra strong cleaning vinegar and regular dr.bronners unscented. I think the vinegar I used is what did it. I made a second batch and it turned out perfect :)
Using regular sea salt did not work for me! The Himalayan pink salt I used in the video worked beautifully, and made the soap nice and thick.

Awesome! I’m so glad it worked for you ❤
@@TheFarmhouseMom I'm happy to save money, too! The price of Dawn was nuts. And a smaller bottle, too.
Can this be used in the dishwasher?
@@StevSecOps I don’t know…I’ve never tried it! I think it might be too bubbly for a dishwasher…
Thank you
You are welcome! Hope you like the soap recipe.
Do you mind sharing a link for your dish soap dispenser please? Thanks!
Yes! It's this one...amzn.to/41dQgZt
From Australia here. What exactly is Sal suds?

@@TheFarmhouseMom Thanks for the info.
How much of the Sal soap did you use?
@@shaunecameron3082 one cup of water, one cup of vinegar, one cup of Sal Suds.
Can this go in the dishwasher ?

Why did nine curdle and create a weird smell?
I’m not sure, did you use the same ingredients I used?

@@emilydau3656 oh good! Yes, I do think the cleaning vinegar has additional ingredients in it.
Next time you're making this, just add the Sal suds to your already mixed ingredients. No need to "dirty" another measuring cup.
Yeah I usually just mix it in the bottle. This was for the video.
