I have an 04 Tundra Extended cab. Bought it new off the showroom floor in March 2004. 165,000 dealer serviced miles. It is not feasible to sell this truck and buy something new. Nice truck You should've got the rear disk brakes conversion instead of the front brake upgrade I had did the same brake upgrade on my 05 tundra and then sold it to get the rear disk brakes conversion it was worth it Anyways keep building it up man
Not my truck, it belongs to friend. Interesting recommendation. A lot of guys prefer the front brake upgrade, all I can say is my friend is happy with the truck. I haven’t driven it or compared
I have the same rear leafs and stock up front. I was thinking about getting the lift you have on yours but in 3in. I have like 4 inch's of rake right now and need to get something ordered soon.
Your stock front may be sagging. I would would think with a basic coilover setup like the icons, you could get the vehicle level. The archive garage MD springs are only rated for about 2” of lift.
@@208Tyler I picked up a set of his original Shackleton HD springs. They were on sale a while back and one of my stockers was busted. Anyway it's easy 4ins higher. My front is all brand new (factory replacement). My thoughts were a topper plus steel bumper will bring the rear down plus the front lift will hopefully even it out.
I’m not sure what you’re getting at. I see the 00-04 rated at 245, the 05 at 282, and the 06 at 271. The difference between 05 and 06 is because of a change in measurement standards in the industry, but 05 and 06 make the same actual horsepower.
in regards to the front brake upgrade, my understanding us that Toyota began putting larger front brakes on the tundra in the second half of 2003, so tundras made during and after that time already have the larger brake set up as Toyota found the original set up was not sufficient. They created a retrofit package that could be used to upgrade the previous models to the larger brakes. my question is therefore, is the brake set to mentioned for the Lexus better/ larger than the later 2003+ models already have? i have towed a horse trailer over 6k pounds through mountains with no problem with the factory Toyota tow package and this trailer brakes... and i run 265/70/r17 tires on stock limited oem wheels
You’re correct. Toyota upgraded the brakes, and the brakes from a late mode tundra would retrofit perfectly onto my tundra, provided I trimmed the dust shield. However, the Lexus brakes are even bigger than those. It’s another big step up in performance, as these brakes are from late model vehicles with higher performance OEM brakes. It may not be necessary for a lot of use cases, but it’s a good addition when adding larger tires. In the case of this black pickup, he’s on 34” tires and the brake upgrade makes sense from a safety standpoint.
Great setup, bro! I have this exact truck and am looking to do something similar to it, wheel wise. What stops me is that I tow a travel trailer. I'm not sure if this type of custom setup hurts the towing capabilities of the truck?

Hey I am looking into lifting my tundra about 3 inches and putting 33's on it. Does this trucks setup rub at all when the suspension is articulating or when the steering wheel is at full lock?
I’ve read people with the 00-04 upgrade to the LCAs, Spindles, and Brakes of the 05-06 because they are all larger, so why in particular would you want to switch to the Lexus brakes. Is it really that necessary if going to slightly larger tires?
I haven’t touched my brakes at all (this isn’t my truck). It’s not necessary, but it would be necessary in my opinion if you were going up in tire size and towing a lot, you’d want to account for that.
@@208Tyler At what point does it also require you upgrade the brake master cylinder? Are the part numbers the same on both vehicles? From what I know from an engineering perspective you can’t always throw on much larger brakes and expect it to work ok without carefully checking off other parts in the mix. I wonder if he kept the original brake master or used something else.
It’s an upgrade that’s getting more popular. I’m not sure how much better the master cylinder would have to be to maximize the upgrade, but a lot of people are still switching to the larger rotors and calipers and enjoying it.
