We are 'seasoned' cruisers and have done Alaska twice. The first time was in 2017. We did many amazing things, and the second time was last Sept and we didn't get off the ship. It was cold and rainy and we already had another trip booked. But, life got in the way, and the physical ability to do the excursions waned. I think that younger people need to experience Alaska while they can to fully take in all it has to offer. Then, when 'seasoned' and you still can, keep on doing it! We just never know when life will say no. Enjoy while and as long as you can!
Jay, you are so kind to say “seasoned” and “salt and pepper hair”. What a charming young man❣️
I first went on a cruise to Alaska when I was 19 years old and it was amazing! Now 20+ years later, I'm finally going back in about 2 weeks. While I got a smoking-hot deal through Carnival, the excursions that I have planned are not cheap! We're doing whale watching, a helicopter flight to a glacier, the train ride in Skagway, an up-close look at glaciers and the fjords, and wildlife exploration. This will probably be the last time I go to Alaska though. Thanks for the video! As always, it was outstanding!
I agree with you. I went to Alaska 8 years ago and we’re planning to go back next year with my kids. It is amazing.
Going in August already excited about the scenery. 💚💚💚💚
I’ve done 2 Alaska Cruises. 1 sea only, the 2nd land and sea. Both were fantastic. Alaska is my favorite cruise as Alaska is so beautiful. Excursions are worth it. I did the dog sale in Juneau which was my favorite
The weather is unpredictable my 1st port of call was in Hoonah high temperature of 75 degrees. Thank you for your "Cruise to Alaska" videos with your mom.
It is awesome that you were able to experience this with your mom.
I have enjoyed cruising and due to the pandemic its been a bunch of sitting around waiting for things to calm down and become safer to cruise when i am disabled. Me and my buddy have been talking about going on a cruise to Alaska next year and enjoy learning more regarding this cruise destination.
My 1st Alaska cruise I was 26 and loved it. Have cruised there at least 15 times and we already have 2 more planned. I really like the last cruise of the season as it starts to get colder.
Not only was a cruise via the Inside Passage to Alaska the smoothest water I've ever sailed on, but it was also the most 24/7 scenic Cruise I've ever experienced. I took my mom on her first cruise because it would be very difficult to get Seasick on that voyage. This is the one time you absolutely have to splurge and get a balcony cabin. We spent countless hours relaxing on the balcony sipping on a hot beverage and watching bald eagles and bears on the shore.
She loved it so much she wanted to go on another Cruise. Ironically our next cruise was to Bermuda, and we got caught trying to outrun a hurricane and 25ft waves, but she was "seasoned' from her first cruise, and we still had a great time. Alaska is an absolute must for almost anyone and especially the best for a first-time cruiser in my opinion. It's money well spent. Just bear in mind that it does rain there a lot so be prepared just in case.
We have paid £3500 Sterling but looking forward to it. Not on Carnival thank the lord.
Going to make a month long vacation, so we can tour the top end of the USA.
Totally agree.. Been on many cruises Alaska was the best but also the most expensive. Did the helicopter tour, walked on the glacier, real rock climbing, one in a life time experience. Wanted to do the dog sled but do to covid they didn't have it when we went in September of 2021...
Your Alaska cruise looked amazing
Alaska is on our bucket list for cruising. We will one day. It made me happy to see you and your mom together having a good time.
Definitely addictive! Just went for our 4th time in June - this time with our Grandson! Already planning to go again!
My seasoned sweetie and I are going for our honeymoon August 13th!!! So psyched!!
40 days until I start the travel to my Alaskan cruise! I have watched all your vlogs and I am SO excited
You’re going to LOVE it!
@@JSHIPLIFE 52 days for us cannot wait
Great video J! We went on an Alaskan cruise at the end of June. Our weather experience in the inside passage was beautiful (mid-70's and sunny skies). Three more points for Alaskan Cruisers to consider 1) There are Alaskan cruises that leave and return to San Francisco. Check out Carnival and Princess Cruises for those. 2) Do your best to get a cabin in the middle of the ship. The Northern Pacific ocean causes to boat to really rock. 3) Be ready for lots of daylight. When we were near Juneau, the sun didn't set until after midnight.
You're really good! You will go far in life!! Enjoy your videos.
Lots more to Alaska than the cruise. We have RV’ed twice and also went once for the Iditerod start !
Great video!!
I loved Alaska, I broke away from the group and did all the things I wanted to do (dog Sledding, kayaking near the bears and bald eagles)
I was nervous to cruise but Im glad I gave it try. I love the water so being on a ship wasnt an issue. I am in love with it now. I'm one of the fun people lol. But would like to try other crusie lines. Alaska is definitely on my list. This was a great video. Thank you.
I totally agree with you! I've been to Alaska twice, 2018 & 2022. I'm planning go every year. There's no place liked it. And by the way, you're doing a fantastic job. You are my go to for cruise news and inspiration. Thank you.
NCL PORT IS AWSOME IN SEATTLE !!!! Very together but we were in the haven 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
When we went we missed all but one port of call due to bad storm. It was really boring on the ship for that many days. I can't imagine doing Alaska with no excursions. We will redo Alaska and honestly I think we will do the one where you go to some of the same ports twice incase there's weather issues.
Add your channel as I watched a few videos and love the content. Keep up the GREAT work. Thank you for another solid video. I might not always agree but I definitely appreciate what you do!!!!
Alaska is definitely on my list of cruises. Thank you for sharing your adventure with you mom.
Love your channel! Thank you for the great content.
Thank you for this video, I am planning an Alaska cruise and this was helpful
You're the best and Thank you so much for the information and experience.
Worked for Alan Marine last year - Alaskan Dream Cruises - stationed on their flag ship, the Alaskan Dream as a Galley Steward. There are so many things to see. Whales, porpoises, Bald Eagles, Bears, Mountain Goats etc. Bear Island was my favorite stop due to the hot springs. Even got a chance to see Aurora Borealis. Highly recommend a trip out there!
Also, Alaskas coastal areas are temperate rainforest so yeah, it can get surprisingly warm and most definitely live up to the RAIN- in rainforest.
P.S. there are gnats and mosquitoes everywhere it isn't cold.
I have to say, after watching this video I would definitely use the sponser to book!
Great Video J! I'm two week away from sailing on the Carnival Splendor to Alaska via Seattle and I'm really excited and your video has just added to that excitement! I've had friends tell me that sailing to Alaska was life changing for them. I'm thinking it will be like seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time.
Love your videos! I was on an Alaskan cruise about 10 years ago but many excursions cancelled due to weather😂🤪😩. Your recent videos have inspired me to try again. Thank you So much!
Jay I agree with you I did Alaska cruise last month and I want to go again it is absolutely beautiful
Looks beautiful and amazing
Love the Alaska cruise, been twice, looking to go again next year. Nature is peaceful
We went to Alaska last June, it is addicting!
Don’t know about this year, but I was on Princess last year for Alaska. The embarkation and disembarkation was extremely smooth and fast. I don’t know if time slots affects anything but I was the first group to board and first group to leave.
Ship life!! Oh my God I've been watching your video since maybe covid were you around then I think you were anyways in watching for a while and my mom after me begging my entire life is like let's go in on Alaskan cruise so I'm so glad to have your information I just sent your videos to my entire family I'm like listen to this dude he worked on the cruise lines he knows don't listen to anybody else....
Nice info👍🏾
Very informative. I would love to cruise to Alaska. Hopefully within a couple years 🤗
Can’t wait to book my first cruise to Alaska! Then the Hawaiian Islands!!
I'm going to Alaska on Celebrity in May and just can't wait!!! I'm taking my son for his 21st birthday!
I loved Alaska. I just came back having been on on Celebrity Eclipse ...what a fabulous cruise. I will go back!
Alaska is on my bucket list and will be going in 11days 4 hour 😃I'm so ready for the adventure.
Definitely a better than kinda good video
My daughter and I were on the Quantum in June, loved it! Got that off my bucket list after about 30 Caribbean 😂
I'll whole-heartedly agree with getting addicted. We've been on three Alaska cruises...two on Princess and one on Holland...and we have number four booked on Celebrity for 2023!
I'm sorry about your embarkation/debarkation process. Our Holland cruise, from the same pier in 2019 was about as smooth as you could get (our Princess cruises were both out of Whittier so that's a different experience). My guess is the cruise lines and Port of Seattle are having a hard time getting back in the groove after the shutdown. Hopefully, that will turn around sooner rather than later.
Alaska is so beautiful and ya gotta love the beer battered Halibut.
When we were docked in Juneau in 2019, we did the helicopter + airboat tour of the Taku Glacier.
At the time, the cost was about $600 per person. (There were 3 of us.)
* WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! ❤️
We did the Taku lodge for a salmon bake. Was the best salmon I have ever had. It was right across from the glacier.
Sailed on the Solstice 7/1 and the embarkation process was very chaotic. I have never experienced it like that in 7 trips to Alaska.
About 5 years ago we went on a family cruise to Alaska on celebrity, we had everybody from 80 years old to 14 years old everyone had a blast especially on the train out of Skagway.. Royal Caribbean was a good choice. if you had taken maybe Holland America or Viking even princess; depending on what month ..summertime is always full of young people in their twenties and 30s but by picking Royal Caribbean you probably did have a younger demographic so it was more fun and probably a good night life.. the one we really noticed it on was the Panama Canal, that one does skew older..
The bottom line is ,if there's some place you want to go.. just go!
Awesome
I would love to cruise to Alaska, normally I cruise to Caribbean island which are awesome but for a young gal I would love to try Alaska for the experience
Thanks for the info Jay. Sorry you didn’t win the competition.
You were her favorite on the cruise
I'll admit that I'm conflicted about Alaska. I want to see it, but I'm warm-natured...lol. Love your points though!
As someone who absolutely detests the cold, I LOVED my Alaska cruise on Quantum of the Seas this past May! As long as you layer, you'll be prepared for any weather. Breathtaking scenery, interesting Alaskans (who will talk your ears off if you let them). Am planning another Alaska cruise next year. 😀
I’m taking my cruise alone to Alaska. Tired of waiting on people. Not sure if I’m going to do an excursion but I can’t wait.
That's my top cruise destination I want to go to hopefully with Holland America or Princess
My early May cruise on Princess was great, albeit cold. Hey, what's wrong with old people?? I'm always sad young folks don't seem to want to mix???
My family and I are going on an Alaskan cruise next year
Yeah I'm seasoned 😏😎🤙🏼
Those are post covid. Precovid when I went to Alaska on RCCL dog sled excusion was almost $400 pp.
Could you a (what to pack) for Alaska. Pleeeeesssseeee! Mainly clothes. My down fall is shoes. Also we are checking an European cruise. And what ship & the company. 👏👏👏👍💗
All hail J, all hail J, you got it wrong J. It's "Space...the final frontier...these are the voyages of the Star Ship Enterprise; it's 5 year mission...to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no man has gone before". Hi from Bob and Jill on the planet Vulcan here in Connecticut
An Alaskan cruise will be a retirement gift to myself, in about nine years.
I’m going on ovation the first part of September. Are the outdoor pools going to be open if weather isn’t too bad? I’m really bummed because I just found out my 18 month old can’t swim in the indoor pool. I feel like that was one of the few activities he could do. So I’m hoping the kiddie pool will be open?
That's not a cheap cruise but I'm sure it was worth it. $100 is a quick weekend trip but that cruise for most people is a long term plan. Planning on this cruise for 2024
For me the worst part of an Alaskan cruise is the weather. The cruise I went on a few years ago in July had bad weather and we only had one stop that we were able to actually do excursions. Very disappointing. I wouldn’t waste my money again to go there.
Saying Alaska cruises are expensive is misleading, all cruises CAN be expensive, but you choose how much you want to spend based on your budget
1. You don’t have to book a junior suite. A Caribbean cruise can be just as expensive if you get the nicest rooms
2. You don’t have to do $300-400 excursions per day, you can take a bus to the glacier, walk around town, visit the museums. All less expensive than doing multiple excursions per day
Moms should be spoiled!
I like this.,.,.,.,
Wait! You're a twin? Are you guys identical? You guys should do a cruise together.
Nope and I’m older by 1 minute! We’ll do a Cruise together eventually!
@@JSHIPLIFE That would be awesome. Thanks for the great content. 👍🏽😊
How was the WIFI on your Alaskan Cruise?
Junior suite 7000. Interior room 900.
Prices fluctuate throughout the year
A cruise to Alaska is definitely not on my list due to snow, rain and having to wear coat, hat and scarf. That not my idea of a holiday 🙆🏾♀️
Twin brother john. How do we know your jay and not john😄😄
In 2006 our dinner table mates hed their 12 year old grandson. It was his choice.
Awe..you're always the sexiest man to me!!
Aw thank you☺️
Your not her favorite.. she loves all 5 of you equally :) Vancouver Cruise port is way better organized compared to the video i saw from your trip leaving Seattle.. but i can only compare to Disney Wonder Alaska leaving Vancouver.
My Alaska cruise this past May from Seattle was THE WORST embarkation out of the 30 cruises I've taken. Fortunately, the rest of the cruise more than made up for that!
The grime on your couch is distracting.
It’s a friends AirBnB that’s getting renovated while we visit a new city. I’m not complaining
@@JSHIPLIFE OK - I thought the RUclips thing in the BG was yours. Tell your friend. Love your content, easily distracted by the buildup. ;-)
