I bought this and the vintage modified. The 70’s vibe is SO MUCH BETTER. All the things I upgraded on the vintage modified came stock on this, including the mustang bridge and MXR knobs. It feels better than my fender player series and saves money in upgrades.
Good demo. I searched for this because im trying to help my friend decide his next guitar. He mentioned the Fender Jaguar, but since he’s a beginner i looked this one and told him after seeing this review.. and now i want one too!! Haha the GAS is real
Was going to pre order the new Contemporary as the photos showed this amazing BUY ME NOW metallic turquoise. In the end i found it's really a shade of blue similiar to my Strat, very much like the Teles behind the guy.
Very inspiring guitar , lots of different Tones due to the different circuits. Can‘t put it down as soon as I‘m at home from work . Got a lemon 🍋 and had a lot of hassle with the bridge and a crooked screw in the pickups . Fixed it myself because I could not let it go back ! I even dream of her sometimes , while I‘m sleeping 🛌. A thing of beauty and soo good sounding ...
Amazing video, made me decide to make the purchase! That fender blues deluxe sounds quite amazing as well. Might have to look into those amps in the near future :)
Mine arrived last week. I ordered it from Musician's Friend rather than my usual go-to, Sweetwater, because I wanted that Daphne Blue. The guitar is fine, no complaints. However it arrived w/o a trem bar and the wrenches, and has signs of having been a returned item. My calls and emails to MF have gone unanswered. So, buyer beware if you order from MF.
We appreciate the kind words! And we've noted the request. Plenty more Focus On Sound videos in the pipeline, so we'll be sure to add an offset shootout to the list. Thanks for watching!
You can start with Squier Mustang bullet (rocker student guitar) with 12 flat neck, med jumbo frat, string gauge 10 and clean HH. Then move on to 25.5 scale length fenders which offer varieties of pickups to play wide range of genres.
We'd say you probably get a better instrument with this, over the CV. The quality control and specs have borrowed a lot from the USA-made guitars, so if you're stuck and want the better guitar, maybe consider the Player. Hope that helps!
FOR ME, the Jaguar sounds 100% clean a little bit better but no matter how much overdrive you have, the Jazzmaster sounds much better driven. The Jazzmaster is a big guitar, still playable though. I have bought the vintera jazzmaster and it has a chunky neck. It's a little challenging for me to play the thing but I really like it. The Squiers have slimmer necks so that shouldn't be the problem. The Jaguar is a little bit thinner sounding but not as thin as people might think.
Hi, I just got a brand new one of these today, I get a bad amount of feedback when using distortion (not the good kind) and sometimes the rhythm switch doesn't engage properly and I get heaps of buzzing noise. Has thus happened to you?
Thats right, if you play hard enough it sinks out of the box. For me 10cm of of insulating tape on both the legs of the bridge helped, no sinking and other issues since... I love this guitar
How much money you have to spend on a guitar doesn't correlate IN ANY WAY to your playing ability. Im really tired of hearing people call $400 guitars beginner guitars. Thats just stupid. You have a family to take care of and responsibility's, bills etc. Then you cant afford to buy a Fender American Professional guitar. But what you can afford is to buy a $400 classic vibe and upgrade every component one piece at a time when you have the money. Then eventually you have a really nice guitar that you didnt have to pay over a $1000 for all at once. Hell i wanted a nice telecaster so i built it. First i bought the body and neck and worked on them for a long time dialing them in and repairing any imperfections in the wood and going over each fret and wicking super glue under and questionably installed frets etc etc. Then i bought the stuff to finish it from stewmac and amazon (Colortone vinyl sealer, Colortone Vintage White Lacquer x2, Mohawk Finishers Choice clear gloss x 7). Then i did the finish and while i was at it i bought a compensated bridge, new control plate, Hipshot tuners, new pickguard, CTS pots and pushback cloth wiring, and Fender Pure Vintage 64' tele pickups). You get the point. And if your thinking well if you could afford all that then you can just save up and buy a nicer guitar. But thats impossible when you have bills and 3 dogs 2 of whice have expensive medical issues etc. If i tried to save up id always end up spending what id saved on something more important. It doesnt hurt my pride to admit that i work hard but dont make a lot of money. And im not alone. So please, stop calling $400 guitars beginner guitars. A $100 never heard of the brand guitar is a beginner guitar. A squire classic vibe can be a great beginner guitar but when it comes down to it, a classic vibe is a reasonably priced guitar that can be upgraded to play and sound just as good as an actual fender if you know what your doing. Yes the wood isnt the same quality as what youd get with a Fender but if that bothers you just buy the wood yourself or a rough cut body and neck and build a nicer guitar yourself as I did. The most expensive guitar i own is a Martin D10e, and that took me an embarrassingly long time to get. Ive wanted a Martin since a few years after i started playing guitar which was almost 20 years ago. I only just now got the Martin a little over a year ago. Sadly with acoustics you cant just buy a cheaper version and upgrade it since the body materials and build quality is everything. But with electrics thats less important. With electrics you just need quality components, and good set up, level frets and you've got a good playing and sound instrument.
@@regentsounds9044 thanks mate....I have a hunch you yourself love the Squier...I was just curious about the build quality of the Player series...I'm reading all kinds of things.... Great review btw!....
@@desiolle2874 I think the Classic vibe is closer to the american original series guitars, while the player is closer to the american professional series guitars
Des iolle I’ve had both. The classic vibe looks the best with its vintage vibe. They’re both very similar in many ways. I bought the player jag and returned it to shop (swapped for a more expensive jazzmaster) the reason I returned it is because I didn’t think it was worth the money to me. It was still very good but I felt I could get my money’s worth more with something else . The squire cv is worth the money.
Based on the description of the circuit in their website, the controls and the sounds, I'd say the DOD Carcosa fuzz is comparable. They both have a pot that controls the bias voltage of the transistors, although the Myriad uses both germanium and silicon trannies, while the Carcosa uses just silicon. I'd say look into the Carcosa regardless, as it is a very good sounding versatile fuzz. I have one on my board, and quite like it.
Hey there, so i'm close to thinking of buying one of these.. i'm wondering, the clean tone, does it sound any like a strat? i'm looking for that jimi hendrix clean tone,, can this do it? you know,, the kind of mid-tone twang sound...
Hi there - we run through the rough clean tone possibilities in this video. Neck pickup-wise, it can do the Hendrix-y thing relatively well, but it isn't a Strat, and thus can't do the in-between pickup selections in the same way as a Strat. If you want to sound like Jimi, you should probably aim for buying a Stratocaster. Let us know if you're interested, and you are very welcome to place an order for the guitar you would like to buy, via our website, RegentSounds.com.
I would love to see Robin Trower play this guitar , I think he could do a lot with this incredible guitar . Stay Cool - Cheers . Could you demo a Malmsteen Stratocaster for us please . ? ✨
I like to hear the guitar clean. So many videos have distortion/fuzz on the guitars and I don't know how you can really tell what a guitar sounds like under those conditions. I use distortion occasionally but mostly play clean.
I must have gotten a lemon. It was horrible. Poorly cut nut, wouldn't stay in tune, rattles & buzzes all around. Yeah, I know I should have had it set up but I would have to spend approx. $100.00. I just didn't think it was worth it at the time. Maybe I made a mistake.
We are sorry to hear that - any guitar - irrespective of price point - will benefit from a good setup. We had this one setup before we shot this video, and recommend it for anybody buying a new guitar. Thanks for stopping by and watching!

Definitely the jag
Great video! Really did this guitar justice! A great player definitely helps!
Does it need a set-up out the box?
It sure needs a serious one. I have that guitar and it's not far from unplayable out of the box.
Why cant anyone get the switching correct for jags?? Is it really that hard?
( that is not a "tone curcuit")
Beautiful 🤘😍🎸🔥
The Jaguar is 24" scale right?
Please give me reasons to choose this over the 60s Classic Vibe Jazzmaster
Yodito Nugrahacky cooler looks.
What Reverb are you using? It sounds amazing!
What does the guitar weigh? :) thanks in advance
Each individual guitar tends to weigh differently from another, in our experience!
But how much more compared to a Strat?
that looks so sweet
