Just started my RUclips channel after putting off this dream for over 15 years. I have barely scratched the surface of what I want to do with it but am already so excited by the lovely creator community I've been seeing - with you being one of my big inspirations. Thank you for your vibrancy and helpful tips. Here's to all of us fulfilling creative dreams 🥂
What I hate is the younger women won't really watch women over 50! We still have a lot to say and teach and can be funny and helpful. I have my channel on a vegan lifestyle but I add in fun shorts also to break it up. But the views are so low. But never give up!
Im tired of trying, but when I realize “how much I love making videos” then I also realize my videos are for others in the “LIKE-MIND” and when I built my community and for my videos to be pushed towards who relate and which isvmade for them. I will have A real community who likes me for me and not just “GHOST VIEWERS” Long story short: DO YOUR CHANNEL TO MEET OTHERS JUST LIKE YOU AND NOT RANDOM STRANGERS” KEEP GOING, YALL GOT THIS!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
I needed to see this, thanks ❤ I’ve been feeling discouraged & don’t know that niche I should pick since I have a lot of interests. I have the same ultimate goal, building community and it’s like minded ppl. So I’m starting to lean towards “I am the niche” sounds cliche but true lol
Listen sis, I am overwhelmed over here but I’m pushing through. I’m sitting here editing my video and it’s slightly over 20 mins and I was thinking of cutting it in half and having a part 1 & 2 but I honestly didn’t want to do that. Although I’m a new subscriber to your channel and new YTer, your tips and ideas have been so helpful. Do you have any videos that help people schedule their time out because I keep running out of time lol. I don’t want to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
You're advice about making longer videos to increase watch hours is great. I've been sticking to around 10-15 min videos, hoping that people will watch most of it because it's shorter than 20. But you're right. Only half. I made a longer one closer to 20min and got half there too. Time to adjust my approach! I'm just over 2k watch hours. Was hoping to get to 4k by Q1 but I don't think that's going to happen. Shooting for Q2!
I have absolutely no experience - I’ve just uploaded my first video TODAY but I am trying to learn all I can and appreciate those who comment with their experience. Every bit is a help!
I’m a small RUclipsr but I post every single Thursday ever since I started which is a bunch of months ago. I post storytime, pampering and lifestyle content ☹❤
This is very helpful information! I just started a sewing channel 6 weeks ago and have been using some of these tips. I'll be incorporating the rest! Thank you!
The niching down method works! I started watching “I wish I knew this before starting a RUclips channel” and boom! 💥 I’m watching this video 😂because your content is authentic🥰. And it really helps thank you 😊
I work as an artist but in two different mediums with entirely different styles - even though art might be my niche, at least I now feel like I have freedom within it.
Thank you for the tips! I'm still not completely sold on the youtube shorts tip though, I've just heard from too many people how its negatively impacted their channel, whether it's from making less money from shorts or just seeing how its hurt their main channel's views or engagement. I recently took the shorts off my channel for this reason, but maybe in the future I'll try experimenting with them again.
8:54 not sure about this. My own experience is that Shorts definitely destroyed my channel but after i quit doing them & only focused on long form, now it looks good and normal again... No more shorts for me😊
I always usually watch you to the end of your videos! 🙌🏼 just stick you on x2 and get through it double time 😂 you always have so much good advise. Thank you x
Such great advice! While our main podcast is focused on our sisterly relationship, we also thought it was important for each sister to have their own "side-quest" that also lives on our channel. Nicole (our oldest sister) has a fun taste test series, and Faith (our youngest) has an awesome Geoguesser gaming series--BOTH of which produce content that feeds back into our podcast discussions. Great to see how this platform is ever-evolving , as is the audience.
Thank you, just started about 9 months ago. Originally it was just for my friends and family until my husband's Pay got lowered and since I'm disabled and can't work. I've been looking into this.
Great Tips Jade 😊👍. But I have a question, I get a lot of views & likes but they don’t subscribe. Even if they subscribe, later on my subscribers drops Why???
Haha, I started with a 14 second intro! I’ve changed to a 3 second intro but I’m definitely going to look at it again! Great tips as always gives me a lot to think about x
I liked what you said about removing intros, and replace with some type of entertaining or education hook. I didnt realize people nowadays have small attention span, and seeing my 10 second intro could bore them. Thanks, Jade. 😏 ~ Tazzz ~
I love Artlist. They have the best music. Everything Jade is saying is correct. I've experienced ALL of it. I'm into everything at this point in time in my life and really don't want to niche down so I haven't.
I’ve always had the passion of my own radio station or podcast and you really have gave me information and motivation to proceed with my dream life and I thank you!
Well done, lovely video. Hopefully this is helpful for you... I’d like the pace to be a little slower. I know we can change the speed, but to me that can make the person sound a bit drunk 🤣 💗
Trend research was most informative. I have just stepped away from posting anything because I needed a break. Moving forward I can’t be so focused on what I should or shouldn’t be doing but just post some informative sewing content.
Thank you for this great info. Question if I may, should you always post your reels to your grid? This yeah I’ve been posting more reels, getting more engagement but very few follows. I add a cover to ‘messy looking’ reels. 🤷♀️
I love your videos. There is a lot of great knowledge to learn on your channel. I’m starting my channel seriously this year and has been binging your channel But completely off topic…Can you do a video on your hair?
I love you content! It’s so insightful. I’m thinking of beginning my YT journey but have no idea how to edit videos. Yours are so well crafted!!! What do you use to edit your videos? How do you add sound effects, supporting graphics, photos, gif clips, etc?! Have you done a video on this before? If not, could you 🙏🏽
I absolutely LOVE your content. It has been so useful in me starting my channel. I mention you in the video I am posting today! I wish you all of the success coming your way❤ much deserved !
Hey Jade! I love your channel! While I have a lot to learn about social growth I'm an artist and I want to help with composition. You're too low in the frame I would love for you to split the difference in the current gap between you and the top of the frame. Also having the camera a bit lower and at less of an angle will help the audience feel more connected and engaged. Keep up the great content :)
Thank you! I'm new to YT so this has been helpful. I have a brief intro to both my shorts and long form knitting tutorial content. Do I need to bother using the intro with shorts?
These are great tips! Always looking forward to new content from you! Becoming a RUclips partner is one of my goals this year and your tips have helped me a lot!💚
Very helpful information. I just started my RUclips channel last month and I’ve been looking for good background music. But is the music from this app free of copyright?
Great video! I learnt alot and I get what you’re saying about views but my question is, when you say “engagement” what exactly do you mean? Do you mean comments? Likes? Because for me, views are a part of engagement. I think a video that has alot of views will have engagement. Or am I wrong?
Hm. I do focus on watch time now because i need watch hours for monetization... it feels impossible to ever get those 3k-4k watch hours! Making longer videos definitely did not work for my channel, my longer videos get no impressions from the algorithm, not even if average watch time and clickrate are quite good.... Using an intro depends on the content. My current videos no longer have an intro, but working on a series now, and it will have a short intro. Makes it look more like a tv show and create the feeling of it being a series encouraging people to watch all episodes. Very much agree on the shorts... subs from shorts definitely aren't the best audience for your channel if it's not a shorts channel, but they're still subs! They're still potential audience. However, 10 million shorts views are, of course, completely impossible unless you're a shorts channel with shorts going viral regularly.
I just posted a video that im proud of then, your first advice on things not to do in the intro is exactly what I did… my reaction (F#CK). GREAT VIDEO BY THE WAY.
I think it depends how long it is and if it’s the same thing or if it’s little sneak peeks of the video coming up. The vlogger Alexis Eldridge does this really well. If it’s the same clip for every video and I want to binge watch then it gets boring if it’s longer than a few seconds. I’m 39 for context. 😅 Best of luck on your YT journey 🎉
@@jeriheggie thank you SO much for pointing me to her channel. I’ve been doing a similar thing but it’s the same visual every time. Maybe I can play around with it.

Indeed!
A into segment is the quickest way for me to click off a video
I listen to all videos in 2x speed, but I watch the whole video most times. So 100% watched but still on 50% of the time, lol.
The niching down method works! I started watching “I wish I knew this before starting a RUclips channel” and boom! 💥 I’m watching this video 😂because your content is authentic🥰. And it really helps thank you 😊
Love the tip on not niching down. People are multifaceted and I want to share all the things that I go through as a mompreneur.

You can give it a try. Experimenting is also good for finding the works best suited to our channel.
