Cities Skylines Industries:
In one of the most in-depth expansions in Cities: Skylines history, Industry becomes a larger and more meaningful part of the game with this expansion. Players can customize their industrial areas with supply chains for the four different resource types and unique factories. Well managed industry areas will level up and become more efficient. Aside from production chains, there is a new city service for handling mail and the cargo airport eases import and export of factory goods. There are FIVE new maps, new policies, new city services, new buildings (including resource extractors, manufacturers, warehouses and unique factories) and more.
Key Features:
- MAKE IT HAPPEN
Follow your products from harvesting to processing, storage and production, then transport them to commercial zones or export to other cities.
- CAPTAIN YOUR OWN INDUSTRIES
Define an area with the industry area tool and place highly specialized industrial buildings to build and manage the production chain from raw material extraction up to final end product. Industry Areas are divided into four types based on the natural resource they are processing: Farming, Forest, Ore and Oil. These areas can level up upon reaching productions goals and staffing requirements.
- BUILD IT UP, BUTTERCUP
New industrial buildings include Extractors, Warehouse Facilities, Processing and Auxiliary Buildings, Industrial Props and Roads. Unique Factories, such as Food, Toy, Furniture, Car and Electronics produce luxury products, and require a large number of workers, water and electricity as well as input from your industries.
- SHIP IT
Manage traffic and logistics with industrial warehouses and the use of the new Cargo Services including a cargo airport.
GO POSTAL
Boost your citizens’ well-being with mail delivery and collection services. Post sorting facilities handle mail between outside connections and the post offices, and new Post Van and Truck vehicles enable the carriage.
- WONK HARD
Three new Industry Policies and four City-wide Policies, including Workers’ Union, Sorting, Tolls, Wi-Fi, Logistics, Work Safety and Automation.

May you fix my In the next video
Hey! So I loved what you've done! I had struggled with making roundabouts in the center of the city, but it never occurred to me to make the whole center it's own roundabout... Genius! I'm so glad how it turned out, and you even added the that long highway near the bottom, which corresponds perfectly to my original plan of adding a pure tourist area... I very much enjoyed this video and this series, I'm glad I was able to give you a bit of a challenge too, hopefully it wasn't too hard, lol... Anyway, Thank you so much! And I'll be looking forward to your next video!
Congrats on the sub goal! As much as I like some other CS streamers, I've been asking them to look at things like fixing issues in people's cities as I find that interesting, and of course, helpful to understanding how I might fix my issues (without tunneling everywhere, or using asteroids).
Anyway, you doing some of this content helped me find a new personable, engaging RUclipsr to watch. Looking forward to continuing great things in the future!
I have a long list ;-)
Thanks for sending it in, I had a great time doing it all vanilla...even though it was very tough with no mods! Many thanks :-)
"No mods, not traffic manager, no nothing, but bad grammar , we have lots of that". You deserve a like just for that opening.
Thanks! I surprise myself sometimes 😋
And no Mass Transit, as well?
Yeah that was funny👍
"no nuffink!"
"I feel like I'm making things worse"
- Me everytime I try to fix any traffic related issue in this game.
:-)
That’s meh
These “mods” should be features of the main game
Ikr
I wish traffic manager was on Xbox, I’ve just been using the stop options on junctions to make “priority roads” but they still drive like knobs.
Literally was saying this this morning.
TimeHunter i mean it’s no different than drivers irl
TimeHunter I don’t think XBOX or PS4 would be able to handle that but I think the consoles could handle the yield and lane arrow changes that you make yourself
It seems like adding yield signs would patch up the majority of vanilla traffic issues
Oh yes please we need those
And smarter lane changing on part of the ai.
And have them change lanes normally and not do a 90 degrees on the highway
As a new player, I appreciate the vanilla fixes. The manager should definitely be part of the game itself. Thanks so much for the helpful hints on unmodded cities.
davidinark??
didn't expect to see u here. 😃
The traffic A.I. of the game is pretty impressive it mimics real life traffic with those useless lane switching so accurately. It reminds me of my daily commute.
My guess is that you are american. In Germany you always keep right unless you overtake and unless you want to pay a ticket you do so.
Imagine you had to deal with car accidents in this game, holy smokes I'd go insane
LJ400 everyone in my cities would be dead. I never use the traffic lights or even the stop signs 😂 (console player)
Roundabouts would be great then
IF they did I think it would pause traffic for like 5 seconds
I’d give up lol it’ll be just another huge issue
I can't explain how happy I am that you did a full vanilla fix, I play on console and unless you do small pockets and not a large central city. Traffic quickly becomes the bane of your existence. Anything above 120K pop and the traffic just becomes so bad trucks get stuck. Then the good/customer flood happens and building start shutting down. Then it Smithville turns into meteorville and restart.
Lol, hope this helped 😀
dang you can get 120k? My max is 44k before traffic becomes an unfixable nightmare
@@marcbenedict3676, really? It's all about the spread my guy. Zoning off the highway, the junctions and back routes for services to avoid big intersections and junctions. Haven't played much since I made this post tho, mostly on PC now
wtf i play on xbox one and my main city with 85k has an 80% traffic flow xD i just fixed it because i had 70% lol
I've been having trouble managing traffic ever since I've started playing the game. my boyfriend sent me this video and thanks to learning the thing about using the stop signs instead of the traffic lights I managed to get the traffic flow in my city from around 60% to 90%. Thank you so much for doing this video!
Nice 👍😁
It would be nice if Paradox gave us access to some of these QoL mods for us console players. Or maybe just even implement them in the vanilla version as a update to fix some of the borked aspects of the game, it would make the overall experience far more enjoyable along with causing less headaches.
Tmpe that's all I want
Maybe TM:PE could be added as a DLC or smthn
Be careful or they'll monetize your comment too.
God what I’d do for terraforming and park zones on the switch. Honestly the only mods I can see easily being patched in and easy to use with controllers/joy-cons
the reason they don't have stuff like tmpe integrated into the game already is the cpu load it causes. On a high end gaming PC it's insignificant because it can just shift the load to different cores, but on low end systems and consoles you have very limited processing power and a heavy AI can crush the performance.
After being a Lyft driver for almost a year now, I stumbled on your Traffic fix episodes... and its oddly therapeutic! Will you fix my hometown? XD
If I was allowed to I would at least try! ;-)
It's too bad there are a lot more things to think about when planning roads in the real world. And the inflated costs for doing stuff compared to the game.
Would be helpful if a real life city could just turn on infinite money for these projects. And have them completed instantly instead of taking months or years to complete...
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines first get rid of all the traffic lights
6 lane roads are worthless in vanilla. If you cant utilize the lanes for specific turning only lanes you're better off with 4 or 2 lane roads
They are not completely useless, you just have to be very careful and basically plan the city around the road so that every lane somehow ends up somewhere where people want to go. But I agree, they are not nice to use and throwing more lanes at a traffic problem won't solve the problem as long as it is not just a pure capacity problem.
@@waynebutane1338 funny you mention capacity. The main reason to use main roads is the speed increase. With mods I can make a 2 lane road a 60 just like a 6 lane. Honestly I wouldn't play the game without mods and I can't say that for any other game
Not really, in the 4 lane the vanilla AI will use the outer most lane as both a turning lane and a forwards lane. With the six lane you get less dummies waiting in line for a turn only to keep going forward once they get there. At least in my experience.
@@-ragingpotato-937 in my experience I will have a 6 lane road, equal housing on both sides, and all traffic will be going left. Nothing will go right for whatever reason
@@james2042 Imagine that I got so angry that the my old non steam version of the game could not be modded that I ended up buying the game. Idk what that non steam was, got it from a friend, thought to be a demo, but perhaps it was a cracked one. Anyway for 7 Euro (that's what I paid for it on WinGameStore) it was not worth the hustle.
The trick to playing without traffic mods is that you need to consider the purpose of every lane. If your road doesn't narrow or split at some point, only two lanes of the the six lane roads are actually used because the others don't lead to anywhere different. (Well, the trick is that you shouldn't try to build Brasilia. Brasilia is a terrible city.)
Os políticos de Brasília são piores do que o tráfico kkkkkkkk
Lmao, I tried building Brasília’s structure on the Switch version and I confirm. It’s gridlock
I've been looking all over for a video that shows console "or almost console" traffic management. Traffic managing and transit placement is my biggest struggle. Great video!
I think the real question is, why the traffic mods, move object and road mods ect are not just real option of the game? Because the traffic mods are really helpful and they have so many mods we can't use on console it's hard to play and create something really nice without mods. Its possible but really hard.
Le Uman I think it’s performance issues. The mods slow things down quite a bit. Biffa has a MUCH more powerful PC than any console, particularly because a lot of the traffic stuff is CPU bound, where a PC is just astronomically more capable. The other side of the coin is just how over detailed things get with mods like MoveIt. They allow for incredibly stupid stuff to happen, and can essentially cheat things like full landfills and such. All that said, at least a few traffic manager features, specifically lane management and simple yield signs would be huge.
It is also a challenge thing - if you keep throwing in mods tonmake things easier you are ducking the challenge.
@@ianmoseley9910 But its challenging in the worst way
metro question: isnt the 9000 vs 6000 really just double counting people? I mean all those people who get off and then cross the road to get back on...
either way... 50 people waiting is much better than 1000. lol
😆 How I loved to see those trucks come out of nowhere, even after you deleted the cargo train station, Biffa! You really went to town (no pun intended) 😏 on fixing this city's traffic. Terrific job. I wonder what Sam Bur would think. 😏 Look forward to the next installment....
Thankyou. It was a tough one for sure 😀
I noticed that with vanilla it's best to do roundabouts with less lanes as the vanilla AI never even uses the other lanes anyway, with 2 lanes in the rounabout that seems to be less of a problem.
They'll use all the lanes if there are four way intersections. Roundabouts can be an easy solution to traffic but cost you space.
This what people who play console have to deal with. With out the mod It hard to deal with traffic
Guys, one of the best tips I ever received for trains and certain roads to certain buildings, is to use off ramps. For example, NEVER put a train station (trains, not metro,) directly on your train tracks. Every train that stops at the station, if the tracks only run through the station, will stop all the trains behind it. What you want to do is build the station next to your train line, then split the tracks into two so one track goes straight past the station and the other breaks off the main track to enter the station set off to the side. Let trains pick which they want, as most of them will likely pass by the train station. You can sometimes do similar things for certain roads.
If you make the main road a priority road it adds stop signs automatically
It doesn't always get rid of the stoplights however...
However don't do it with highways. Oncoming traffic will stop before merging onto the highway and mess up your traffic
I bet there are many people like me who stumbled upon your videos and had never even heard of this game but now love it. You've probably boosted their sales. I hope you continue to grow. Your personality is great!
Thankyou 😀👍
You are a life saver! I recently got cities skylines on console (because it was free) and my traffic was horrendous! I was at about 40% and dropping! After watching this video I was able to get it up to 80%! I was seriously considering starting over but this video helped so much! Thank you so much for making this video!! ❤❤
Pls do a vanilla series. No mods or assets
I think he'd good crazy without traffic manger. Maybe he could limit the mods?
Maybe :-)
Thank you Drpancakes :-)
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines You should really do a vanilla series, I think it would expand the information given and the teaching done in this video, gaining more views from console users, and it would still make a good series that all your current viewers would watch :)
For vanilla series I recommend to check "t4rget gaming" - He has lots of great content on that.
no mods AI is a flat pain in the backside
"My stop is 3 exits ahead, better just get into the exit lane with everyone else now. " - The AI, probably
Just like real life lol - ever been on the M6? ;-)
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines Or tried to get round the M25?!
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines never been on those roads im in Eastern Kansas in the United States... Murica!! The Land of Boobs Butts Bullets an Booze...in Kansas City we have exits that go off the right an left side of the highways...we do have a round about that connects 2 highways an i admit im guilty of just going in circles in that round about on my motorcycle just for the luls
@@moesanrath Ah.... you just let me reminisce about my old home town. But, hey, when you've got nothing but flat space for miles and miles, why not just make up random interchanges?
Great video man! I love seeing you vanilla stuff, as a PS4 player it means a lot. I tend to shy away from modded videos as they don’t really help me. Love the channel! Keep it up!
Thank you Johnny Fraser :-)
Thanks Biffa! I play on Xbox, and your tips were spot on. My traffic wasn't terrible..73% with a few bad jams, but now I'm running at 81-82% with no jams anywhere. :-)
Nice 👍😀
I'm rejoicing about this fix indeed. My computer is not a top-notch gaming machine so I don't play with mods. My machine is already slow enough with the majority of the DLCs installed. I've definitely going to have to come back and review this when I run into traffic trouble in my city.
This s a great dynamic you've got here! Sadly I started playing this game a few days ago and my city always end up in bankruptcy way too early! Hahaha
I’ve recently discovered this game. This city and other videos are God level. I’m still such a beginner I can’t even imagine getting this good. This video should be part of your résumé/CV. Thanks for the tips even though I’m far from this level of skill.
I watched this a while ago and I completely forgot that you weren’t using mods, brilliant!
I'm not surprised this series is so popular. This is a great learning guide!
Thank you JD Kempton :-)
Those metro numbers are nice. Great video for vanilla players. Oddly I get similar glitches like that rail line except with my trash vehicles not spawning until reload
i love that you did that vanilla just to pick out some bits myself, i didn't notice :)
Awesome, picked up some great tips! I've been getting better and better at traffic, but it always seems like there's more to learn.
I love what you say when you are fixing things, the boo hoo when you deleted the metro line made me lol
Thank you for doing this vanilla episode, it has been soooo useful for my city in Xbox
Hey Biffa, I think this is the greatest idea Sam ever had I sure am learning a lot.
finally someone who plays without mods. since the time that i am waiting for its hard to find a youtubeur who plays without mods and even rarer those who, like you, give stuff to the console player !! thank you!!!!
You're welcome :-)
This particular video is fantastic. I've wanted to to do a 100% vanilla map, so it will come in handy! Thanks Biffa!
You're welcome 😀
Omg! I laught so much with this video, with the 1000's people waiting for the one metro lane, and the gost cargo train hahahhaa brilliant! Btw, I love your accent, were are u from? Thanks for this vanilla version video

Just watching you old work at 18:15 Hugo There, isnt born yet, but Don Dat-Juan... wow... keep up the fun :) hahahahaha
Good job, Biffa! I love me my mods, but you took up a challenge and succeeded, so well done!!! Looking forward to the next episode :)
Thankyou 😀
Thanks for this video. Been trying to get some achievements for cities skylines.
So this will be helpful to go back to; and see what I can do about highway traffic.
😀👍
I CAN'T GO BACK TO A MOD FREE GAME, I JUST CAN'T! 😆 GIMME MY MODS! 😆 Good job, Biffa, looking forward to seeing more of this... 😏😌
love to see a small video or city fix with the nintendo switch version in mind, which is severly crippled by missing out on recent dlcs
2:06 this is the tip that I needed the most. Started playing last week and the lack of a tutorial resulted in me not knowing this was a thing, no wonder my roundabouts weren't doing anything!
Awesome Video! Thanks to share the city, I learned several ways to fix my roads!
Very enjoyable!
And sheesh what was that original metro doing?
Thankyou 😀👍
With vanilla line switching, less lanes can make the flow better, since they don't make the sharp corners during the lane switching
Traffic is part of life. more roads and space means less traffic, its like fundamental physics there is no escaping it.
This is a great concept for a series and this episode was a big traffic help! Thanks!
You're welcome & thank you :-)
Also Biffa, I've notice for his roads. He needs a large road 6 lane (main), medium 4 lane (secondary), and then two lane (residential) but for cities just use the 6 lane and 4 lane either the first 4 lane or the avenue road
This is great, although I should say my vanilla version seems to have less things than yours, prominently, the 4-lane highway isn't here ... is it not maybe from some DLC?
Yayyyy 200k subscribers..Congratzz
M really enjoying this series :-)
Thankyou 😀👍
I know this video is 2 years old but I just wanted to say that when it comes to that pesky lane switching in vanilla/console one thing you could do is to add in a bunch of nodes by just adding a bunch of cheap roads along the highway (just stack them up to the best CS will let you) and then delete them less abrupt turns along the highways and many intersections would help a lot too, ( and I may not be the best at making a beautiful city but those jagged highways killed me on the inside). The games AI will see those as more places to change lanes where the sims will do that in a more natural looking way and it has the added benefits of 1) sims not crossing all the way across the highway to change lanes and 2) giving the AI more options to change lanes so the sims are less likely to get in one another's way (its vanilla it's still going to happen a LOT, but noticeably less) so even with those awful, awful cloverleaf intersections giving more nodes to the AI makes a massive difference in preventing backups with those and other intersections. And even in vanilla the logic of using a few lanes as necessary still rings true because you don't want to confuse the AI with too many options because that's when you start to see the sims all using the same lane to go multiple places. I did see a fair amount of intersections nearby the elevated roundabouts that had a fair amount of pedestrians crossing and hampering traffic flow and I would like to point out that in every version of CS elevated pedestrian pathways over particularly busy intersections is a *must*. And lastly the only thing that killed me in this video is that the original city did not follow roadway hierarchy at all in the slightest, now that isn't something that'll make the biggest difference when it comes to traffic flow but it does go in line with having as few lanes as necessary. And if these techniques are implemented correctly, you can have a city on this very same map with a population between 60k & 70k with over or approaching %90 traffic flow.
Damn this is so helpfull and a lot of work. Loved watching this. Very good video :D
Hello I got story from mine city now. I'm playing on Xbox and try to rebuild Nashville.
I'm actually tapping myself slightly on my shoulder. I mean I got 65k people so far and still 70% traffic flowing.
What I found out for roundabouts in vanilla remove traffic lights and stop signs, and make the roundabout itself a priority street. It's a vanilla mechanic.
They still doing stupid stopping but as far as I found out the most fluent way.
I really enjoy your videos and they help me out a lot.
The biggest overlook and neglected feature for Vanilla traffic control is using both sides of the road. It is too easy to overlook branching off both left and right which can split the traffic into both left and right. In this respect, the roundabout is highly ineffective unless properly lane configured. Even then, it does not take advantage of inline lanes.
Look up herringbone and Square-a-bouts by twistedmelon in the workshop to see compact but visually appealing roads with extremely high traffic flow on pure vanilla, no DLC play.
My question is I'm struggling with is these damn bus lines do I need to scatter them stops or can I put them at the side of the city because I can't put bus lanes
In vanilla you can set priority road saving you swapping lights for stop signs, in with the road info
That's another way for sure 👍
I started cracking up when I saw that the one metro line had 137 vehicles, hilarious!
Didn't see the whole video yet, but I just had to comment that I love your accent lol
You are an unbelievable troubleshooter, nice work on this city!
👍
only thing is... in dutchlandia we often do it reversed; the rotonda below and the highway above, so you have city roads on the actual floor level and the highway elevated out of the way
Hey Biffa. Started watched your videos lately, super fun and educational. Quick question though, and maybe not the right video to ask on, but could you do a video explaining all the mods you usually have active when playing Cites: Skylines? Sorry if you already have a video like that, but one quick search didnt seem to find it.
Thanks 👍 Mod list in my discord 😀
I have the switch version cause I love portability with my gaming. However since coming across bifa's skyline traffic series I see now why vanilla is a headache. All these beautiful useful mods I will never have access too :( I can never grow my city over 50k. I can get to 50k population without ease but then the game majorly slows down less people moving in and more people dying. Traffic in vanilla is annoying to handle especially once you start implementing buses and metros. Still trying to figure it all out before I start to build my masterpiece. Still this is a great series really enjoying your content 😌👍
For vanilla players I'd suggest going to keyboard mapping in settings and create a shortcut key to get to the junctions/or that routing button used to change the traffic lights and stop signs. It's much easier than finding it to click on.
Great idea :-)
Absolutely brilliant! Good work man.
First thing I noticed was the mess of Undergrounds. They are in a grid and everything seems to be connected to a "gridded underground network"... I don't think that's a good idea.
Great job! I love vanilla, it's so much more rewarding
Thank you Telmo Martins :-)
You are a life saver biffa! The power of tea works!
You could try shrinking the roundabout between the exit and the entrance so it forces the cars that want to continue into the two left lines.
I used to think my 70% traffic flow in complete vanilla with no DLCs was bad until i watched this, now I feel good about it! But I think I'll try to implement some of these techniques.
Enjoy :-)
Don't know if that helps in this case - but I'd build these roundabouts at about minute 7 with highways. Cars can drive faster and there won't be pedestrian crossings.
Indeed, further they only use 1 lane so putting a 6-lane road is pointless. I usually alternate the # of lanes in my roundabouts (to provide "exit" lanes)
The cargo train spawn point at about 21:00 when you move the clogged cargo train seems a bug. It seems to remember every cargo truck to infinity, likely the 64k limit or the games array. I would think this should be marked as failed deliveries, and cause despawns instead when bulldozed/moved.
Maybe the devs left it this way to keep the city stable, but I think it would be better to despawn and let them respawn instead. You may end up with a few failure icons, but I think the city would survive with very little issues in the long run.
But if you let it run for a while, it eventually stops spawning and the moved cargo station is still operating normally, so it just doubles traffic for a little while. I run into this issue when helping others on the forums for several years. So this has been around for a long time.
For intersections, Y junctions work best. T junctions and 4 way stops have to worry about cross traffic.
With round about, if it's big enough, I have 2 roads, or 1 way in and out, coming from the inside of the loop.
I have the game on my pc and I wanted to play on my Xbox, do I have to purchase the game form my Xbox or does it carry over. Can some one please help me or find an article answering my question? Thank you.
This is a great series and I'm glad its generating more views for you!! 👍
Thanks! Mr.PianoMan :-)
Is there any way to prevent garbage trucks going across the map on console? They are clogging up my roads going across town while I have plants in every district
*Congrats on 200k* 🎊🎉🎈
Thank you What Ever :-)
Awesome episode. Love vanilla problem solvings!!
Thank you spaceboyxyz :-)
Who needs mods? You sir ARE my go to traffic manager when I need help fixing things. Thanks 😎👊
You're welcome :-)
this video shows our players that it is posible with no MOD's, which solve any problem with a MOD and wonder in the end that everything is slow. Very nice.....
:-)
You make 100 decisions in 1 minute. I make 1 decision in 100 minutes. I LOVE THIS GAME
Question
My city has a lot of traffic that seems to travel in a circle clogging the roads how can I stop this I dont use mods I'm on ps4
This video helped me boost my traffic from 55 to 82. Thanks a lot!
You're welcome :-)
Impressive. I know you are for tea, but it made my mug of coffee worthwhile.
you can try to connect some of the highway entrance to the inner side (fast lane) depend on where the cars going? So they will do less lane switching.
I want to install roller-coasters to take kids to school. A separate one for people going to work.
There's one thing you can do faster in vanilla:
1) Click all lights on road to remove them (not sure if [1] is actually required)
2) Click on road and mark it as "main road" (auto sets stop signs)
Hi Biffa! Really enjoyed this!
Thank you Tim W. :-)
Dope, after watching this and seeing how to properly do freeway junctions I have a city of 100k with 89-92% traffic on xbox
Im playing these on PC. Im challenging myself without mods or TM. Good Vlog
Anyone know if you can get Traffic Manager on console and if so what DLC does it come under thanks
I have the Vanilla but I do not have 4 lanes Highway, is it in a DLC?
