It's really starting to drive me crazy that they all want to explain EVERY single thing in EVERY single drawer and cabinet. Even if they say just like any junk drawer in any average home... But then spend another 5-7 minutes listing everything that is in it to us!! So yes I agree completely with you!! This video was very refreshing and entertaining too! Cheers!
I agree! And I like how he said "I'm not living in my van!" A lot of the van dwelling videos are getting too over the top, it seems. Builds like this (and other DIY'er jobs featured in certain videos) are refreshing because nothing is OVERDONE. I'd be totally happy camping in that van for a weekend in GA, which is exactly where I plan on doing most of my weekend camping. Nice job on the van!
We just finished our conversion in our vintage GMC van! We did a very simple build and can't wait to hit the road! You did an amazing job!!! 💙Terry and Terri
@@marcienne2775 Just got a Vandura with some crappy seats and I'm envious of those seats you found! What a score! Nice job with the conversion. And you're the first person that I've noticed that showed the pile of stuff ripped out with the bare van insides. That was nice to see!
I have the same van year and all. I got hand it to you. Though basic all your ideas are genius af. I just got new ideas for my van holy fudge bro great video. Loved the terminator scenes
I honestly appreciate that this is your only video 😂 or at least the only one I can see. Great build, I've actually watched this video a few times over the last two years for inspiration to get my van camping adventures started. I wouldn't mind an update on how things turned out after 4years and if you still use this van, gave up the vanning thing or if it crapped out on you 😅. Thanks in advance 🤘🏼
just bought mine three days ago! 1996 g30 cargo van. I honestly finally see what I said I was trying go do and it's in my 3 check budget plan! man I love this so much and you really helped me in a desperate time figure out a reasonable budget in very comfortable living. and the numbers I needed desperately! thank you so much, happy travels.
Nice inexpensive build Good work and Good video... I am a camper and a RUclipsr I like your style, Post good content and post often you can go far. Keep up the good work!!!
Sweet. I just picked up a 93 G20 StarCraft van. Been fixing mechanical stuff so far, plus living in it currently, and I'm looking for ideas. Nice work. Cool vid. Safe travels bro
Yooo i feel ya on the german U boat when it rains, I've got a G20 that im converting rn mine's a 1983 tho definitely awesome to see someone else with the same style of van
Wow! You did an amazing job showing a budget van life set up. I actually came on here to check out builds cause I just bought a Chevy G20!! So cool to see what you've done with the place!
Awesome job! You inspired me. I live in SC and just purchased a 1992 Chevy G20 with 151k miles for 2k yesterday. I managed to get it up to 65 twice on my 4.5hr drive home. Both times it was downhill with the wind at my back! LOL Now the adventure begins!
Righteouss, had my g20 since April, loving every minute of building it, just redid my ac, reflectix is up and sink toilet bed and carpet, on the road in Nevada
@@marcienne2775 i removed the dash first, then cleaned out entire air flow path passenger side, ridfing it of leaves n debris, removed the heater core and flushed clean with vinegar, opposite side of fire wall removed ac evaporator housing, cleaned that, added new pre oil filled compressor, rented vacuum from oreillys, vaced the system then added refrigerant. Also needed new blower motor relay, located on the evalorator/blower motor housing, this i accomplished in 6 days, im no mechanic but also did my own water pump, radiator and thermostat at the prompts of youtube. Thank you for your content
My dude! Thank god it's not another rich couple dumping $30k into an ikea van. ALSO GA (ATL here)!? I'm starting my 85 G20 build right now and this was way more helpful than listening to some HGTV couple talk about how "cheap" they made their "tiny home" Props to you! Once I get the transmission rebuilt and some basic tune ups done we should get up and go fishing!
I just finished insulation on my g20 I feel you ont he excitement.. kinda ready to take it over night some where but going to install the tounge and grove plus flooring first
This is one outstanding job...... The woodwork is just great...... everything that you have done to this van is above and beyond fantastic.......be super proud of yourself........ keep on keeping on
Good job on the conversion and video. I can tell you really, truly enjoy what youre doing here. I've just got one of these vans as well, hoping to do something similar, maybe 4x4 conversion as well, definitely an inspiration
Nice built bro. Looks fun. I love these older GMC & Chevys they practically bullet proof. I'd just advice to use conventional oil over synthetic. These older motors DO NOT like synthetic thin oil. Thicker 5w-30 or 10w-40
Excellent work Marcienne. You know your stuff bro. Your special video effects were also cool. I got some really good ideas from your video. I am going to use big pvc pipes on the roof of my van to store stuff also. Cool restoration bro. See ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks great. I've watched a couple hundred of these van conversions, and they're all 15 to 25 minutes, totally unnecessary. 5 minutes is all you need. I subbed.
Damn dude. Fishin, The Van, Scallops and fat tire...???? We're twins!! I hope to meet ya one day. Im researchin this van to see if I wanna buy it for my son. Looks good so far.
I’ve been in the market for a new vehicle and haven’t been able to decide between a truck or a van. Been looking at this same van but the G30 for 1500 only 102k miles. This video is making me want to pull the trigger and buy it and convert it for hauling and camping needs.
G30s are awesome. That price sounds great too. If you just check the undercarriage and suspension for rust, especially if it's up north, check to see no chocolate milk oil or white exhaust (blown head gasket), or transmission problems you'll be fine. Parts are cheap, labor is free with all the RUclips vids. Good luck.
Hell yea. I'm big into toyota truck stuff, I'd like a 4runner even though I have a taco. Had a 99 but too rusty to keep and unsafe to drive. Maaaan, I seen a Chevy G20 at the beach and I totally forgot about this van. My aunt used to have one when I was little. Curtains in that b!tc#. So homey. It was awesome. And yours is awesomer
I have a 4runner now. Since around March. Been a helluva truck so far and recently just did some off roading and climbing in it on the weekend. Made a vid 🤙🏼
I am doing my own build soon and want to do something similar with the ceiling. I would absolutely love it if you did a video on how you drilled into the top to get the planks up there. 🙏 love it man subscribed!
I just looked up planks on van ceiling. There's a few videos with better explanation. Once you have them cut to length just start from each side and cut the last one to width. Lathe screws that arent too long work will. I admittedly screwed through my roof multiple times.
I had an 88 G20. She'd book. We could run 80 on the interstate and it was smooth as butter. I had another G-20 that would have you sweating at 60. Just depends on the van.
Been looking at all these 20+ minute videos all day for diy camper vans... This 5 minute video was all I needed. Great job, man!

More please. Your sense of humour is great.
the most realistic video of me trying to plan my van conversion

Great job man, this is solid! The chairs and the ladder are such a great find.
Damn right one of the best vans ever made
Homie has jokes! I was chuckling the whole time lol
No way! Me and my partner live in a 1992 Chevy g20. I really like the layout of yours, it inspires me to redesign mine!
How is it mechanically? Does is it often have problems?
I love what you did with the grill space!

Great build…gotta steal your idea for the grill shelf on the side door. Thanks for the video.
This is awesome! I just got an 88 g20 and just finished the insulation, super excited 🥰 thank you so much for so many super dope ideas!
That's awesome. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck on the framing and wood installation!
