I had a mentor who just passed away last weekend that taught me the importance of staying true to the subject and having reverence to what you're carving. Don't just carve a generic eagle and call it a day. Take the time and be aware. Carve a golden eagle. Or a bald eagle. Or whatever. But stay true to the features and anatomy and be respectful to the artform. Really called me out on my laziness. lol Quite a wake up call.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing 😔
But you were able to learn from him and one day be able to pass on his knowledge combined with your own. You were lucky to get that and the next generation will benefit more so.
      Make him Proud !

Pretty effin rad Ryan! I'm doing a raven next. I started carving a couple months ago. I'm artistic, but, your vidios made my work awesome from the very first bear head. I'm at 8 bears. And, one wings up owl. I coppied the feather paturns of a picture of a snowy taking off. I got thin and splayed out with the tips. I couldn't believe how amazing they turned out. I can't wait to do more detailed feathers. Thanks for all your help Ryan!
