I had a mentor who just passed away last weekend that taught me the importance of staying true to the subject and having reverence to what you're carving. Don't just carve a generic eagle and call it a day. Take the time and be aware. Carve a golden eagle. Or a bald eagle. Or whatever. But stay true to the features and anatomy and be respectful to the artform. Really called me out on my laziness. lol Quite a wake up call.
I'm sorry to hear of his passing 😔 But you were able to learn from him and one day be able to pass on his knowledge combined with your own. You were lucky to get that and the next generation will benefit more so. Make him Proud !
Beautiful!! I LOVE ravens, and have attempted one, since your last raven video. I believe today, I will try again, with the tools you have delivered, in hopes, my latest viking, will have a raven to compliment him! Thanks AGAIN Ryan!!❤🖤
Pretty effin rad Ryan! I'm doing a raven next. I started carving a couple months ago. I'm artistic, but, your vidios made my work awesome from the very first bear head. I'm at 8 bears. And, one wings up owl. I coppied the feather paturns of a picture of a snowy taking off. I got thin and splayed out with the tips. I couldn't believe how amazing they turned out. I can't wait to do more detailed feathers. Thanks for all your help Ryan!
Stunning looking Raven dude! OMG I want it 🤟🏼 great tutorial Ryan I don’t carve anything as near as big as you but I feel I can apply the same principles as you’ve shown here. Thanks for sharing brother 💀🍺 you sharing your knowledge an tips is awesome .
Alberta boy says ... " Cawww"razy good , every video has been a learning experience for me in one way or another. Thanks Dude ! Good thing we mostly have Crows here in Alberta, goes with the smaller wood, but doesn't make it any easier...please send large cut offs.....lol
Super Deadly Awesome again buddy. You are honestly a master at recreating the life in these carvings. Thanks again for your dedication and time to entertaining and showing us the steps to becoming better carvers. 👍👍👍
The feathers on the neck are awesome! I love the how they twist down to really give it a feeling the birds alive. What’s your favorite wood to carve on and why?
superb work. I think you are using cedar. can you tell me if you are working with very dry or green wood. in France I work with cedar from the atlas which is quite hard except in the heart. friendships. Michael

The feathers on the neck are awesome! I love the how they twist down to really give it a feeling the birds alive. What’s your favorite wood to carve on and why?
western red cedar - holds it edge and lasts long time and local to my area
Absolutely outstanding you are indeed a master carver .
Great info, learning to use a template, I believe can also help me with muscle memory when I go to do a quick carve, awesome!
Absolutely!

May I ask where you got your wrap around face MASK ? Miigwech
Nice video Ryan. Could you go into detail about what projector you use, how it works, how to use images in it etc?
This is the question I wanted to ask. I'm ready to pick up speed with the block outs using a inexpensive projector and get the correct proportions.
Will do! there will be some more info when i start doing some sub classes
Ohhhh amazing. what is that face Mask called and where did you get it from?
JSP powercap
Killer tips thank you, quick question: what was that flap disc you used to clean up the shou sugi ban?
I totally don’t remember I’m sorry been long time since I saw that vid. And I’m trying to respond to all the comments as fast as I can lol. Maybe sand o flex ?

I want to hug that raven so bad!!!
You said it once but i forgot what video it was in. What airbrush paint do you use? Is it water or oil based? And how does it hold up to the elements?
Iwata - golden and idk
Seems to hold up good
How much would something like this be? Just asking for a ballpark as I am sure there's many factors.
1000
@@RyanCookCarvin much lower than expected. Thanks for the quick response!
