    Very helpful stuff man, I usually take my shimanos to someone for yearly maintenance but might give it a try myself this time!

      Thanks I hope it helps you if you do choose to give it a go. Be cautious and take pictures of anything that looks complicated with those shimanos!

    Taking a picture is a really good idea. Best thing to do if you ever have to change or wire a thermostat.

    I'll be sure to reference this video again when I clean my reels. The liquid solvent is a good idea.

      Thanks! It's hard to get all the old grease and oil out without a solvent that made a big difference for me with my reel maintenance.

    Thanks for the info! What should we grease and oil after each use too to prevent rust? Or only once a season?

    Maybe I missed it, but did you wash the spool off with the mineral spirits? If so did you take apart the fiber drag washers before hand, and use something like Cals Drag grease when reassembling? Helpful info, but just wanted to be clear on the drag washers due to their importance to the whole reel👍

      @MakeTimeForFishing  3 года назад +1

      I did yes but if I want to be easier on them I'll just rinse it thoroughly with water and set it aside to dry out. I don't usually take the drag washers apart and I didn't with this reel specifically because it has a sealed drag system so it's usually pretty impenetrable unless I really messed up on the water.

      @MakeTimeForFishing  3 года назад +1

      But I usually just use regular reel grease on the drag to answer that question.

      Mainly to work any lures you're throwing nice and slow to give the fish time to eat. They get very lethargic in the winter

      I've been really impressed with it so far! I have 2 one is my ultralight and is a 1000 series and the other is my normal inshore 3000 series. Both handle big fish like champs and I've dunked them both a bunch of times and cleaned them both in this way and they work like new still!

      Well I can't speak for all reels but I can say I like it better than my Battle II and I didn't notice a difference when I had a Spinfisher, in the short run at least!
