She said: 'I can tune them low and they still have a tone.' And that's what makes her special The taste, the talent to hear and listen. Anika, you have an admirer because you can pick the right stuff.
She's got great taste in drums! The Star Bubinga snare is tits!!! The 1st time I had a Bubinga kit, I was blown away. I've been collecting Bubinga kits for a few years now.
WOW I WANT THE BLACK TAMA HOODIE THE BLONDE GUY WAS WEARING, ITS GOT MY LAST NAME ON IT WHICH IS TAMA, Ive been drumming since age 12, im now 46. Awsome video. Thanks
I wish the demo videos were also played with no mics unmixed just like 95% of us drummers play at home in the spare bedroom. That would be a real review.
they're not playing games! not at that price anyway. but that's pretty damned cool, something no one but the drummer will ever see yet they put that effort into it
@@warrenoids The outer inlay is standard on the Maple and Bubinga Stars, but the inside inlay is optional and comes at an extra cost $ ....its damn gorgeous tho 😍
When artists get serious and need a company to help them elevate their professional sound, they move to Tama. A lot of artists leave Mapex for Sonor or Pearl, mainly in metal. But Tama is just class and targets a prestigious kind of player in most genres where you see the logo. BUT its not arrogantly pretentious like DW which is money backed. Everything is built with attention to detail and quality and there is some pride to their work. No short cuts and it doesnt feel like a “american corporation” thag panders.
Tama used to be the "metal" company, but lately it seems like they've been marketing to the neo-fusion guys with this Star line and the new Superstar Duo kit, with much success I might add. I'd say the Tama Star and the Sonor SQ2 are the pinnacle of what drum building is in the modern era. I was very close to going with Yamaha for my latest kit, but the Starclassic Line just offers so much more in the way of hardware and durability than the Live Customs, which are also great drums themselves no doubt, but Tama is my sound.
lol :D Really You Think this is top of the Range? --- go and check out some Custom Drums. Antonio Drums, T. Berger Drums, Masshoff, A & F Drumco, HHG etc.... I mean Tama and Sonor make High Class Drums - like Mercedes and BMW make great Cars - but if you want something extraordinary you dont go to this Brands ;)
Drumlegends Custom companies dont count lol. Not only are they over priced, but they are incapable of supporting a roster of artists. Even Mapex cant keep artists. And in the end, Tama SC and Star are hand made, unlike the other major companies who mass produce their top lines. You’re getting the same quality as custom shops for less, with more accessibility. Plus, you can custom order from Tama. Small companies are cool for small time gigs and touring. But not when you need a kit in every country when on the road.
Sonor SQ2 is Handmade in Germany... ;) Custom Companies do have Artists... But you probably never heard of them :D haha Well of course the Support is better with bigger companies but you and Austin were talkin about Quality! And fact is, that they are better drums than Tama. In the same price range! Tama DW or Sonor top of the line costs about 4000-6000 euro (non customised) and even more when you customise them ( I think youll end up about 10k for a sq2 (4tom).... - Well with that money you can have your customised drumset from any custom shop and have money for custom made cymbals from Murat Diril etc... :D Check out those smaller Companies who want to make a name through extraordinary quality for a reasonable price... not Tama and co where you pay at least 1000 Just because its Tama :D
Drumlegends I bought a used 4 pc SC Bubinga Elite set for $1300 lol. Also, when you order direct from Tama, you are paying at cost, which means you are not paying the factory msrp that the retail market sells at, but buys at. The high end lines like Pearls Masterworks are hand made to. But customs really arent better. It costs them too much to supply the same wood. Every company essentially has the same hardware. The only difference is shell construction and compression of the wood plies. Ive heard custom shop drums they sound like DW’s, they are ok. Snares are the easiest thing to make sound good which is why there are so many snare companies. But ive seen the guys playing customs, they can only afford the generic one up two down combo. You can buy a brand new SC elite for $2800-3400. Add 2k for the Star. Custom shops would charge 4k for the same level of quality and type of kit. They also cant provide hardware lines like Tama can. Custom kits are for people who csnt get major company endorsements because with custom drum shops, the only requirement is you actually play them. You dont get free anything. Or sponsored ads. Or sponsored events.
personally i think these drums sound way better with dual ply hydraulic heads. the matt comes out so defined i literal hate it. my opinion is the matte white is marching band sound. all in all amazing. but the purpl babinga set is my dream set. clear head going on that boy
Too bad tama Japan doesn't stand behind their products. When you get a new star set, and you find out there's a problem, you're screwed. You're lucky you get from tama USA, because tama Japan is useless for resolving defects.
Amazing drummer. Not so amazing spokesperson. Tama should help her script what she means, without repeating. It will also be honest as it's her words. Great video of an incredible drummer.
Zach / I don't think you read my comment correctly. I wasn't criticizing her. I was stating Tama should assist her in her descriptive abilities. All the best.
Paula Gomes I do believe I DID focus on the video Gomes. I indicated that in my comment. I hope you take the opportunity to re-read it. As for talking to her.....why wouldn't I? Because she is ' famous'? That really means nothing to me. She's an incredible drummer. All the best.
Paula Gomes I completely understand what you said, the first time. I have no issue with you disagreeing. I don't believe assisting someone is disrespectful at all. I also never stated Tama would feed her the words or script. Rather, I thought it would be good of them to help convey her opinion. If you believe she is good at that, I'm okay with you thinking that as well. Hope this helps.
I think so when I watch older material played through a hi fi setup, my ears hear nicer tones. But I can see how she evolves and has a top tier sponsor. I have even seen her play Roland drums, which the has a good attitude about. Early on even Bruford couldn't do it for me with E drums.
Utterly empty ignorant dull comment stick to what you know stupidity Sonor are one of the best sounding drums on the planet and insulting a language is evidence of your ignorance

Ordered my 7 piece bubinga kit in dark green cordia. CAN NOT WAIT!
how are they?
Bo Huggabee stunning!
How much did that cost you?

Beutiful kit. I have a B/B snare and I love it. I want this kit.
anyone notice the inlay on the reinforcement rings of the toms at 5:13?

The inlays are free. No charge.

Anika you are the best, I love you!! un abrazo desde Argentina!!!
Didn’t know correctiful was a description for drums lol
Andy Ham in her accent she's saying "character" and "characterful" meaning the drums have a lot of character to them.
Deathmode Official I was being sarcastic bro lol.
3:05 thats the same finish Lars Ulrich 2009 finish "LU Magnetic Orange"
this version ,,Willy Boy'' is amazing
what the hell was that tambourine thing on the snare.
i NEED that
It’s a big fat snare drum donut with tambourines on it I think

Tama la mejor !!
Hey Tama, how can I get one of those black zip up sweatshirts that they guy in this video is wearing?!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✌✌goodsound
Billy Cobham can't be wrong
What snare drum is that?
That's a Star bubinga snare in a Natural Indian Laurel finish. This finish is exclusive to the Star bubinga line only.
Nobody deserve that Kit more than Anika.
Pretty much any drums are going to sound good once mic'd up and going through a mixer. They will not sound like that when you set them up at rehearsal.
Uau
This drum or that drum company,i think we all would love to be endorsed🤗 free drum shit all day ya know😉 must be nice!

snare drum???
They Mic those drums and make them sound like shit. she could be using a Beginner Kit wouldn't make much of a difference.
Would have loved to hear the bloody drums..not just cymbals, snare and kick 😂
Amazing drummer. Not so amazing spokesperson. Tama should help her script what she means, without repeating. It will also be honest as it's her words.

didn't the Mapex kit sound better?
Interesting question
It's a matter of Taste.

sound too boxy
Out of the box(y) 😂
First
what does that do for you? make your little pee pee feel weird?
germans should stick to making Volkswagen ,whatever they play sounds utterly empty & dull just like the language
Utterly empty ignorant dull comment stick to what you know stupidity
