For those who don't know, that extra scene that happened in the beginning of the anime, that wasn't in the manhwa, it was actually in the Korean light novel of solo leveling, so it's safe to say A1 PICTURES will be adapting the solo leveling Korean light novel and sticking to the manhwa artsyle at the same time

As a reader, I just kept smiling the whole way through. Couldn't have asked for a better ost composer than hiroyuki sawano. Listening to his work while reading was perfect.

I’ve read solo leveling like 5 times while fantasizing how the characters move.
But to see them actually move now is like a fever dream. Not in a bad way but it’s just unreal.
I'm so glad everyone else has agreed that the animation is solid. If the animation didn't live up, literally nothing else matters for this one.

It's after they start bowing down to the statues, its only after that, he smiles and stands up. Gonna be like 1-3 more deaths, then they read the scripture the architect is holding, and they gonna start bowing down, then the smiley smile.

Yeah a lot of people seem to forget that the smile doesn't appear early and it appears when they figure out that they need to bow down
oooohh yeaa i forgot about this, the statue start smiling when all of them bow to it.. i was wondering why they’re not end the episode with the statue goes smiling. welp i take it back
@@jenkun3461 yeah I reread solo leveling quite recent so I remember this stuff but a lot of people I assume like you forget how slow the begging actually is. For example they enter the room in ch 2 and the smile appears in the first quarter of ch 6

I never read the LN, but I love seeing the initial raid scene in the beginning, because they mention it frequently in the Manhwa but no context is ever really shown as to what actually happened during it. Looking forward to all the extra details during the show

I love seeing the bros (Eunseok, Yoonho, and Byung-Gyu) in the opening scene, rescuing the Knight's Guild, I think, at the 3rd Jeju Island Raid. It really puts Choi Jong-In (Guild Master of the Hunter's Guild and known as the Ultimate Mage Hunter) in perspective as he uses fire magic while Eunseok uses lightning magic, which combines the speed of light magic and the destructive power of fire magic. Their inclusion really demonstrates the difference between A- and S-Rank hunters.
What I'm really happy to see is that we get a glimpse of Yoo Jin-Ho and Han Song-Yi in the first episode. I listened to the light novels and was really disappointed that Song-Yi drops out of the story after the White Tiger Red Gate - she shows up in the manwa, defending Jinah at the Orc Dungeon Break, but I'd have liked before and after scenes of Song-Yi and Jinah being friends.
Lee Joohee is the name of the B-Rank healer. B-Rank is considered high-level, so she would have been scouted by guilds, but chose to work for the Hunter's Association instead.
I LOVE the phrase (Please be afraid!!!) . I also cried at the end, this adaptation made me so happy 😭😭😭

i also found it a little bit weird that they didn´t show the smile at the end because for me that was on of the most terrifying moments in the whole manhwa. But i think they still did an amazing job in the first episode.

This was freaking amazing! I read the manhwa basically since it started. I accidently found it way before it got big. It was the first time I'd ever seen a manhwa and the art work was what really got me so I'm grateful they are sticking with that style and giving it such care because it freaking needs it. 11/10 is exactly right.

It just occur to me that this might be the first anime season where we get to witness 2 legendary protagonist in anime, sung jin woo and ayanokoji are about to carry their own anime lol
This really needs to succeed, because if it does, it's going to motivate other animation studios to properly adapt manhwa and webtoons into anime, I'm desperately waiting for omniscient reader's viewpoint, the beginning after the end, eleceed, sss suicide hunter, windbreaker, the horizon, the boxer, hardcore leveling warrior, second life ranker, unordinary and much more 😂😂

I love how they introduce everyone....and not just focus on Sung
i had a friend growing up, we both liked many of the same things and even among the topics or hobbies we shared we particularly always liked the same aspect of said thing, i felt like watching you react to this episode would be how my friend would react if i forced him to sit down and watch this but our lives' as adults are too busy for us to do this sort of thing.
i love how excited you get and show your true emotion, i could tell by how you were bouncing in your chair you were genuinely doing it because you were overwhelmed and not trying to put on a show for RUclips. i subbed on multiple account shh ;P im axcited to watch the rest of the series with you and maybe more series.

Bro for someone who says he has read the manhwa of Solo Leveling then you should know that the smile comes for the first time only when the characters worship the boss in the room. It will happen in the next episode I'm also a fan of Solo Leveling
It was 4 years ago, but i did read it and if I didn't mention that I read it then when I slip up and say i remember something everyone will call me a pre-watcher, fake reactor blah blah blah... even if I don't remember the series too well 🤷♂️🤷♂️
I was so excited to see them show the raid when it happened, because we know very few details. We know that multiple S ranks were there and we know they FAILED. It'll add more to the fact that we KNOW they'll go back and these assholes will be even stronger.
The only thing that felt weird, and I'd have to reread the manwha, but the chairman never spoke to that dude about...the details of the world like this. This was purely for viewers haha. Feels weird.
I also wonder how far we'll get...it's going to be 2 cours with a total of 25 episodes. I really want to see Thomas Andre...

I believe the Jeju Island 3 years ago in the very first part was just mentioned in Manhwa and not visualized so I'm glad they showed it, probably to reveal characters that won't be appearing anytime soon or not even in these 12 episodes.
as far as i can remember, the introduction was legit, jeju island raid was done before and cancelled due to circumstances, so thats why theres a scene in the anime,

The manhwa's Jeju Island raid was the fourth attempt. The 1st 3 raids were a failure. Many of the people are confused with this Jeju Island raid at the start of the anime. It's the potrayal of one of those failed raids.
The anime is so amazingly detailed. And I read somewhere this is based on the Light Novel instead of the Webtoon. So they started from Jeju 3rd Raid.

Never read it but maybe the studio saving the smile for next episode.... Looks really great! For 1st episode its 10/10 7-8/10 otherwise since RLY to get 9-10/10 it just needs to connect with other episodes which 1st really cant.

All those extra scenes are from the novel. Remember, there was two jeju island raid in the manhwa. The first one failed which is the flashback we saw in the first part of the episode. The second one is the one that Jin woo took part in. All these extra scenes are from the novel. The manhwa cut out a lot of the scenes from the novel to shorten the manhwa to not drag it on for too long.

There were things that happened before the smile, so ending it here is perfect for pacing.. they introduced the difference in strength and the desperation of being powerless... The next episode will show just how evil the dungeon they are in

@FreshestAnime I also read the Manhwa, but I felt that the anime feels a bit “desaturated”? I’d like to know if you feel the same. I’m happy with the animation, I just feel like it’s lacking some shadows/detail from the panels that’d make it feel a bit less “flat” or 2d. Thoughts? I’ve been spoiled with Mappa and Ufotable, but I feel like the artistic style of JJK s1 would have been a perfect fit for this
Love how they’re adding stuff from the light novel it seems, since that jeju island stuff was never introduced until later in the Manhwa

@@alexanderzayas4154 Well, look at JJK s1 for example. I feel like it’s more saturated and the background/characters have more depth, because the animators added more gradients and shadows.
Don’t get me wrong tho I’m very happy with the animation, it’s been super fluid, I’m just nitpicking because Mappa has spoiled us so much 😂 The Manhwa panels just have more detail is all I’m saying. Still super excited to see how A1 handles the Drip Woo transition. Art style may become more of what I’m hoping for in S2 especially

the way they portrayed the jeju island stuff in the early episode because it said it was “3 years ago” but remember in manhwa when they said they gonna raid the island AGAIN so i guess its kinda like a flashback in the anime that dont show in the manhwa. plus they adapted from LN so yeah
