Just to a little side note on how the last commandment is supposed to work. It requires all participants that are still alive, to be at the altar. Once everyone is there, the orange flames light up per participant, and the blue flames light up and start a countdown timer. The objective is to stay in the circle, hold the statues off from moving by having either one person or more looking at them until the blue flame timer runs out. However, this only works if the orange flames are lit up in their direction. So if someone leaves, and the orange flame dies out, the statues where there is no orange flame continues to move. Essentially this is the test to "Prove your faith" no matter the terrifying monsters or even in certain death, you must have courage to stay and have faith. The door being open and no statues will kill anyone that leaves, is a symbol of temptation. Anyone who cowers in fear with no faith will find this escape tempting, but they would betray their faith, their friends, and God. A torment that could be much more gruesome in the long run than the injuries would get in that dungeon. This entire dungeon, is the origin point for creating a PARTY of PLAYERS. If everyone had stayed, and worked together, all of them would have been players that can level up their awakening and rank, and skills very rapidly, which in their world, would be impossible. As soon as you get an awakening of your powers, you cannot level up or improve it, so you are stuck with what you have. But since everyone left, Sung Jinwoo, has become the SOLO PARTY MEMBER - and thus SOLO LEVELING.
Honestly, I am in the same boat as you atm. I read the manwha forever and a fuck ago, don't remember the names of characters, but I remember what they're like, what they look like, what events they're apart of, and remember for the most part a lot of the key story elements. And really, I'm just excited to see an anime

This whole thing is exactly like a gimmick boss in a video game, or a raid in Destiny 2 (yes I play that game, yes I need help). It’s like a gimmick boss in that there’s no threat so long as you follow the mechanics. It’s also like a raid in Destiny for the same reason as well as in Destiny, boss enemies are often much larger than the player, and on top of that there is often a lot of deaths as you attempt to learn the mechanics of an encounter during a raid or dungeon in Destiny. Then in the anime/manhwa, there’s three mechanics I mean, think about it You have massive statues, people dying left and right, and three mechanics, and if they’re followed, you could follow a game plan that would allow for zero casualties: 1.) Walk in, bow your heads to the statue, triggers phase II 2.) Preemptively position everyone near a statue with an instrument. Presence of single party member triggers each statue. Once one is active per party member, end phase II 3.) Once all party members at the alter, exit opens. Preemptively place party members watching one statue each. Trigger phase III. Statues gain the ability to move when unobserved, flames alight in rings around alter. Orange/red for number of party members, blue for the power animating the statues,. Once all blue flames are extinguished, end Phase three It’s like a game If the mechanics of that room and a “game plan” are followed, there would’ve been zero casualties, and thirteen players Let that idea sink in, manhwa readers

One thing i do want to praise so far, as a personal preference btw, but I’m very easily put off by gore, it being just bones breaking sounds, gushing sounds, visible bones, basically most things other than just blood. And so far I’m kinda glad they are not being that graphic with the violence, you never really see anything other than just blood and I’m genuinely so glad because I personally would not be able to watch the series if it was even slightly more graphic. With the sounds as well I haven’t really heard any bones breaking, or at least not noticeable enough so I’m so glad!
I enjoyed the first ep, and the manhwa was recommended to me by friends in the past. Noticed some anime reactors (FreshestAnime & Re:Animated) also read the manhwa, so I decided to check it out, and binged 180 chapters in a few days. Didn't finish the side stories yet, but I know the plot, power scaling, and everyone's names, etc. Didn't read the light novel, and probably won't, unless I feel like it, at the end of this season. The art is amazing. I hope that style translates somehow to animation. Very dark panels w/ bright neon, highlighting eyes and weapons. It reminded me of Goblin Slayer's art a bit. Also, Gojo's eyes from JJK. The only downside is now I'll have to wait a long time to see some of those awesome panels animated. It's an easy read. There's not much text at all, it's mostly action. I recommend reading the manhwa. I rotated a monitor vertically, and tapped "page down," to read through it easily. It seems like each ep will cover 5 chapters or so. There's gonna be 12 eps total in this first season. I was hoping for 24 eps. If I'm being optimistic, then the first season should cover about 60 chapters total, so I have an idea of where the story will pause. Soon, the masses will bow down, and WORSHIP Sung Jin Woo instead. I PRAISE the manhwa's art. The anime has been really FAITHFUL to the manhwa so far. That demonic smile is iconic.

Context behind the ED theme. Spoiler: ED does symbolize tge story. The one who's monitoring Jinwoo is Ashborn. Jinwoo is leveling up alone. He is receiving and finishing quests after quests but it's still not enough (literally says that in the song too). Basically Jinwoo is leveling up so that ge could finally become the proper vessel for the Shadow Monarch, that's what the ED symbolizes.
I still dont understand what this is about. I know he is go to get powerups , but if it makes him overpowered and stuff, i just hope the characters r good enough.

The tree reminds me of that one talking scene with uhh the shadow monarch that gave him this power closer to the end of the story. It burning down is probably the guy accepting sung and going to rest peacefully. Aso towards the end the scene with a bunch of monitors and presumably architect watching them on a chair shifts to the same thing without him, as he is dead now
For the most hyped up show of season i don't feel enough excitement. Now maybe first two episodes are only setup and exciting things are coming. So i will not drop it or something like that. But the thing is that Shangri-La Frontier was much more interesting to me from first two episodes than Solo Leveling.
I have 2 slight complaints about this 1) these 2 episodes should have been dropped together as 40 min special 2) i swear somone cut this episode short it was over too quickly Othrwise PLS gimme more also called it they saved the smile for this episode. Even tho i didnt read source.

For the most hyped up show of season i don't feel enough excitement. Now maybe first two episodes are only setup and exciting things are coming. So i will not drop it or something like that. But the thing is that Shangri-La Frontier was much more interesting to me from first two episodes than Solo Leveling.

I have 2 slight complaints about this 1) these 2 episodes should have been dropped together as 40 min special 2) i swear somone cut this episode short it was over too quickly Othrwise PLS gimme more also called it they saved the smile for this episode. Even tho i didnt read source.

They really should have released 3-4 episodes as one. So far it feels generic, gamey and forced but not cool enough to justify it.
Nah, I'd admit atleast a movie length first episode would be perfect, what we're getting so far is a actually really good. Gotta remember that the pacing was slow to begin with even in the manhwa, it'll pick up steam once we get to the later part of the series.

You know, I am my brother started this series. This is his first R rates series which he will see so much blood work and boy it was insanely hard to not spoil and also keep my mood calm so my brother can react to it.....this is just so insane, anime of the year already for me❤
