The float of an item is basically it's wear value so the higher an item's float is the more scratches it has or in the case of this knife the skins doesn't get scratches but gets darker the more it's "worn off". Some skins just get darker and some receive scratches in the skin. Also if you're into programming: A float is a 32-Bit data type that can hold up to 7 decimal digits. you're welcome :)

I have multiple friends that have been playing since the beta and they wouldn't even know what float means, its possible.

I have played since 2014 and I've yet to get a knife. Then again I've opened just about 100 cases in total over those years.
