That part where she said that it's not about MLP it actually is... It's about the background stories of the lives of the two princess sisters. Princess Celestia who raises the sun and Princess Luna who raises the moon. Luna gets jealous of the ponies in Equestria that sleep during her beautiful night that she refuses to lower the moon one night and that's when they begin the family feud basically. It's a really deep story about emotions and family as well as the importance of both day and night, light and dark & good and bad.

Not good and bad, day and night have nothing to do with good and bad, it was about the importance of day and night and it's balance in the world, but not good and bad, that's not the same, and bad still doesn't improve or attributes nothing, not like night, and not like good, Luna wasn't evil at first, she didn't started as evil just because of being princess of the night, she literally raised the moon and the moon isn't evil, that wasn't evil and didn't make make her evil on itself, it wasn't about good and evil, she let herself get consumed by wrong and bad emotions then and she let them contol her, but that's a choice that one can avoid, say that to the people that get tortured everyday, to the psycopaths, no, evil is no balance, evil causes and searches the opposite of balance, that's why good always has to fight it to restore what's good, since good is what brings harmony and peace, and to believe otherwise is dangerous and that's why we are in the state that we are nowadays and our horrifying past that still haunts us to this day.
Also people sleep through the night, diurn creatures sleep through the night, the majority of creatures sleep through the night and awaken and live through the day when the sun rises, it's normal

I just personally love Luna and Celestia is okay. I just love their story and honestly if they made a series of just them. I’d be up to watching it or a movie covering this ❤️🙂

When Brianna said "see the shape of the pony in the moon" and was all smilely I just was like " uhhhhh huh....sure wait for it..." and slowly I just watched her smile slowly fade and then the look of concern and sadness and then when Celestia struck Luna into the moon I saw a slight reaction of " Oh that's why....ohhh" and I sat back and just nodded sadly.

I really enjoy watching people not involved with the fandom to watch some of the really cool stuff the fans have created. Because even if they don't know about it, they still can enjoy it. Love the reaction dude. And I can only wish that you can react to some of the other cool stuff the fandom has created, like Children of the Night or even some of the more funny random part like How Applejack Won The War or Princess Clestia Being Deep. (not just the shock-value part like Smile). This fandom has many faces and I love when non-fans can enjoy something and not just being shocked by it.

Late reply, but not being a fan of MLP myself, and actually knowing nothing about it, I didn't know either when I first saw it. It wasn't until I read comments did I realize. Just thought it was a original animated short someone came up with.
The basic story of this (gorgeous, holy crap it STILL surprises me and I've watched it many times) animation was actually in MLP itself, as a prologue kind of thing in the first episode. It was told in a simple storybook format, similar to the one that's used in the "she smiled and said 'surely there is no pony so lovely and so well beloved as I'" etc verse here. It was certainly not told in as much detail as here, or with as much emotional weight to it.
Since this animation was planned out and the animatic was released, an episode of the real show came out that showed a peek into the moment Celestia banished Nightmare Moon, and the amount of parallels to this are astonishing. They did the fight scene pretty much the same. (I haven't heard any confirmation of whether or not they saw LFaP before beginning production on that episode, mind you. I guess it's possible they might have. But I think people on the show staff have said previously that most of the time they try to not be too influenced by fanfics etc.)
But yeah god this song is amazing the visuals are amazing and the story is told so well. It took like 2 and a half years to come out but damn was it worth it.

08:00 This "epic tale" is based on an animated TV show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (not to confuse with previous generations of "My Little Pony" from the '90s). The story of the two princesses is a backstory told in the introduction to the very first episode of the series, which starts 1000 years after the events from this video, when Nightmare Moon (the dark pony) is about to return from her imprisonment in the Moon, according to some old prophecies. Twilight Sparkle, a young female Unicorn pony who is a magic student under Princess Celestia (the white pony), discovers the prophecy during her studies and tries to stop Nightmare Moon from returning and bringing about eternal night. In order to do that, she needs to find the Elements of Harmony - the ancient relics which have a strong magical power (the same Princess Celestia used to imprison Nightmare Moon in the Moon). If you liked this animation and the story behind it, I guess you might as well try to watch some "MLP:FiM" as well and see if you will like it too. It's always worth to try something new ;) (that's how I became a fan of this show).

I got so excited when I saw you where reacting to this. Lullaby for a princess is honestly one of my favorite animated short films as well as children of the night. To me the story of Luna and celestia is so powerful and I honestly think that the short film version of the fight between the two sisters was better portrayed in the short film than when they showed the actual fight in the actual episode. But that is just my opinion. ( by the way the "magic starfish" is actual one of the elements of harmony, it is the element of magic.) 🤗🦄 by the way could you maybe do a reaction to children of the night please. Thanks

The two ponies are celestia and Luna from mlp, this is their backstory, Luna tried to over throw celestia and was banished to the moon with the elements of harmony, the "starfish" was the element of magic which threw magic through Celestia's mane and tail changing their color, and pushed Luna into the moon. So Luna was locked away inside the moon for a thousand winters, before she came back in the first episode of mlp.

This video was actually the story of how Princess Celestia had to banish her sister Princess Luna to the moon in My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic. The backstory is that Luna and Celestia were the rulers of the land and Celestia raised the sun whereas Luna lowered the moon and stars. Since people slept and shunned Luna's nigh, she got angry and sad and became nightmare moon caused by her bitterness and possibly the tantubus, a mythical creature, and how Celestia had to use the elements of harmony against Luna and banish her to the moon for one thousands moons

Ok, so this story is actually from a TV show called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The story is that the allicorn with the pink hair (at the beggining, later her hair changes colors after she uses the jewels you saw, called the elements of harmony) was more of the "grand" pony, that more of Canterlot (their kingdom) loved. Nobody ever really recognized Luna, or he purple pony you saw throughout the video. They both had one very important job; Celestia's was to rise the sun every morning, and to set it every evening. Luna's was the same thing, except with the moon. She eventually wanted to be adored, refused to lower the moon to make way for the dawn, and Luna became so infuriated that she turned into what you later saw, the purple pony wearing the light blue armour. After Luna turned evil, she was known as Nightmare Moon. She wanted revenge, so she went after Celestia. They began to fight, and Celestia began to lose. She used the Elements of Harmony to banish Nightmare Moon to the moon for a thousand years. That's why you heard her say, "May these thousand winters, swiftly pass I pray."

I come back to this five years later and only just start watching her smile, as the video gets further in and more melancholic her smile starts to sink as she realizes how sad this is getting and the implications of the lyrics.
This is about My Little Pony's Princess Celestia and her sister Princess Luna, Celestia rules over the Sun and Luna who rules over the moon. Celestia rises and lowers the sun and Luna rises and lowers the moon. Celestia is loved by her citizens because of the warmth the sun brings etc, but Luna is kind of ignored. Eventually, it takes over luna and she becomes Nightmare Moon, who tries to make it night forever by refusing to lower the moon for the sun. Nightmare moon almost wins but then Celestia is forced to use the element of harmony (the starfish) and banishes her to the moon for all eternity. Celestia then has to take responsibility and has to rise and lower both the moon and the sun.
Not sure they know this is fully Canon...

For people who didn't understand the story, two sisters names Luna and Celestia were pony princesses. Lunar was the princess of the moon and Tia(celestia) was the princess of the sun. Tia didn't notice that the ponies of their kingdom was not appreciating Luna's moon and night. Luna was getting depressed and a dark aura overtook her and transformed her into nightmare moon. Nightmare moon threatened to take over the land with darkness and coldness to make people appreciate her and Tia had to stop her. Tia tried fighting her alone without help and almost got defeated. The elements if harmony(the purple starfish thing) helped Tia to gain power and banish Luna or Nightmare Moon into the moon. It would take 1,000 years for the sisters to reunite together. So that sums up the whole thing. Also, there is a Luna reply to this
