when her mane changes colour=the moment I break. Something that is such a big part of her now is actually a constant reminder of what she did to her sister.
I know. That part makes me feel sad as well.
Both of you r not alone most of those who watched the music vedio broke at that point...
No one has ever mentioned the fact that she is still "tucking'' her sister in at night like she always has. It took me a few viewings to get that. And that's what gets me every time.
Both had their manes change from that. Luna's was a pale blue before she became nightmare moon, and then star filled after. Celestia is as you stated. So they both technically have scars from that fight. Reminders of what happened.
How did I never notice that?
Must have watched this video some fifty times or so by now and it -still- gets to me. Celestia... not only did she have to raise the moon with her sister's image on it some 360000 times. She was even kind of branded by the elements with her multicolour hair. Wonder if Luna, after her return, ever asked about where those colours came from.

5 years. 5 years man. 5 long years. And the song still breaks me. It breaks me so much. But I am not complaining. But it is to this day 5 years later still gotta be one of the best if not the best fan made animations ever. I honastly am glad nothing can touch this video. It is perfect.

Because the seasons are important and is a cycle of rebirth. Like the sun and moon there’s balance between them. Without that balance, there’s no harmony and everything goes to chaos. That’s how much Snowdrop understands Luna so much and became a great friend til her death.
Well, after the season four premiere we now know that Celestia didn't get the multicoloured hair from the elements, but I wish she had... that would have been awesome...
I agree... no right choice. And this is a kid's show? really?? The line in the song... such is way of the limelight, that sweetly takes over it's host... Celestia is singing of her succumbing to the adoration of her subjects, while it displays Luna's decent into her inner demons and being taken over by Nightmare Moon. Note the last part of the 'tucked in' sequence, bed it empty and Celestia is seen outside through the window.
I highly suggest you react to 'Confrontation'... all I will say is that it's Luna... and you'll like it.

This is enough to make a grown mare cry. Even I shed a couple tears.
One of my toddler niece's favorite videos. When she was a little younger, I could get her to fall asleep to this song. Still loves to watch it, though she's a little more aware of the emotions. You're reaction pretty much matches mine.
Some of the scenes from the season 4 opening were inspired by the animatic for this. The laser battle around the castle, the fight being kicked off by an eclipse...
It's amazing that a show that was initially made for little girls could spur discussions that resemble philosophical/theological/scholarly debates. You sir are a homegrown scholar/philosopher in your run-down on the symbolism. On the surface immortality seems like it would be rather fun, but you manage along with videos that even words like awesome or beautiful are almost not quite enough, to hit upon some of the cons of eternal life. Hats off to you.
I'm not a fan of 'My Little Pony' but I decided to see why people were crying.
And oh my god this is heartbreaking.
These kind of animations is the proof at the fact that, when you look deeper into it, MLP isnt for kids. Between banishments, ending of the world so many times, slavery, suicide, self harm, abandonment and everything. Thats why i love MLP so much even as a 22 yo woman. Its so deep and so fascinating. Ive always loved mythical creatures and Greek mythology and stuff and MLP is all of this but cute and loveable, and not cruel and realistic like most movies about mythology creatures which.. i do like but not as much as i like MLP.

lullaby of a princess made me cry my heart out because i had to put my best friend and beloved dog, star down. she was my luna and my protector of my family farm. :'( she was all i had left of my grandfather. my goats loved it when she runs around on the farm and sits on the ground protecting them and me. we have bees and told her to stay away of the bee hives and she stays away the beehives. oh, star.... every time i hear it, i think of my star/luna. :'(

story... on my birthday gave me a card that was so meaning full, i cried. This song reminds me of my relationship with her. I am Luna and she is Celestia. WE fight all the time because she thinks she can be better... so this makes me cry. i would fight her all the time. this is us. this whole story. she would try to help me and i would refuse. i love my sister dearly.

Looking back on this reaction vid, it felt rather appropriate this was uploaded on my birthday. At that time, I was still fairly new to MLP too. Season 5 I joined in officially. Then along came EQG and the fan animation that released along the way. I was already hooked.
This was une of the videos that make me cry because it reflects celestia love for her sister and her suffering because she have to banish luna to the moon 😢 is beautiful and the melody is so dramatic in the battle but so full of love in the calm scenes i love it 😊

1. I believe that Luna was taken over by a nightmare. I know this is true because I read a comic when luna says she was taken over by a nightmare. born from the dark side of the moon, and because she was so jealous of Tia, she aloud the nightmare to turn her mind in to a complete shadow of rage.
I love this animation. I cried when I first saw it. 😁 And I love that they got the hair of Celestia right 😁 Pink + elements = rainbow. 😁

twilight not knowing that there is a princess of the night shows that ponies didn't really care about luna during those 1000 years (since she wasn't written in any recent history books that twilight may stumble upon). the ponies during that time only recognized her when she turned into nightmare moon, which is so sad now that i think about it...
From all we already know now, was Starswirl even around anymore to maybe prevent Luna's transformation into Nightmare Moon. I mean sure they talk about a 1000 years, but are they exactly a 1000 years or around a 1000 years?
