  • As hunters it’s important to understand to some degree what mule deer eat, their nutritional requirements, and how that changes throughout the year. That information can be helpful when you’re in the field and looking at areas to scout or hunt. As what a mule deer eats varies greatly on their seasonal movements. So what a mule deer eats during the summer in the mountains is different than what they eat when they start their transition to lower elevations. Again, this all depends on what part of the country we’re talking about.

I was using that feature all spring trying to figure out what the bears were eating as the season progressed. Super helpful! 🙌

Thanks Brady! That’s some great info. I found the biggest pain is trying to learn their feed and what exactly it is. I know mule tails are your thing but maybe one of your ambassadors like Randy or someone could do this for elk also. Good luck this year!!

Some super secret Brady tips. Just what I needed. I already have a stash of pictures of stuff I’ve seen Deer eating. I’ve always looked em up online the old school way. Which still might be the best way cuz the iPhone thing on some of the plants wasn’t super accurate. Pretty damn badass tho I didn’t even know it could do that

For California mule deer, acorns become hugely important in late October onward.

We had a huge forest fire come through a couple of years ago should these tactics still be key to finding bigger buck?

🍻Thanks for all the great info. How do ag. fields like alfalfa factor into this? I feel like I've seen a lot of does on them, but not bucks? Do does and bucks go for different stuff, or is it primarily the other differences between them that influence where, when, and what they're eating?

Since men’s voices are usually deeper in tone than women’s, men need to enunciate clearly in order to be understood. Your speech sounds like blah blah mule deer blah blah eating, blah blah energy and nutrients blah blah blah calories per day, etc. Very frustrating!
