"We're scratching the surface"... so true. Bend is a magnificent jumping off point to many of Oregon's best destinations. I remember when the town only had 7,000 people, it's been discovered, for sure.

Marc . . . Trish, may I be permitted to say what an absolute pleasure it is watching you and your family!!! Don't mind confessing I'm a KYD junkie . . . just find myself needing another fix after each and every last episode because these vlogs . . . .well, let's admit it, are hypnotic. You guys will probably never read this as the video is five years old and you have so many subscribers, but your videos are appreciated. It's definitely a small world. My wife and I grew up in Arizona, I graduated from NAU in Flagstaff and we owned a cabin in Munds Park outside of Flagstaff, AZ near where you guys are currently residing. We are retired now living in Prineville, OR which is just 17 miles from Bend, OR where this video was filmed. Looks like we have crossed paths many times my friend. Oh, and we own an Airstream Classic 28' as well. Safe travels!

Bend is such a great place to visit, so much to do there all year round.
We did the Bend Ale Trail a few years back and hit more than 10 breweries in a weekend, including Crux (before it expanded), Deschutes, Bone Yard and a cider brewer formerly known as Atlas(no Avid).
So exciting to see you guys having fun, till the next time 👍🏻

We are RV'ers, not full time, from Kansas City. We searched the country and beyond for a place to live. In June 2019, frustrated with circumstances in Colorado, I searched Google for Best places to live for outdoors activities. Found Bend OR show up on three lists. Dug in a bit more. Watched this video, as we liked the KYD videos from RV world. Anyway, we came out to Bend, looked at houses, bought one in July and moved on Labor Day. Have been in Bend OR ever since. Absolutely amazing place. Let us know when you are in the area, we are happy to hang out and share the Bend lifestyle!

My wife and I have determined that one (mainstream) video a week is not sufficient. We need more. I understand the work involved but we're selfish and that does not bother us. We hope you understand.....LOL. For the record, I was surprised you abandoned the Oregon coast so soon - we loved it all the way up past Tillamook (cheeeeessseee). Now that I have viewed Bend, you made a very good choice (but the coast is great too). Keep it up! We love your vids!

Very funny comment. We head back to the coast and hit Canon Beach before going to Portland. In fact, we stayed at Blue Heron Cheese in Tillamook. Stay tuned. You'll have to wait a whole week, but we'll have a Q&A coming out Thurs to include the winners of the solar giveaway.

Normal $200 towing charge, $160 no trouble found ford service. Fixed with dollar fuse. If there is an open issue on that I would go back to the ford dealer and ask them why they never even checked the fuse. That fuse looked like the resistance heating up was right at the fuse block so probably the connection of the wire to the fuse block is probably bad.

Marc & Trish, Heading to Bend in a couple of weeks (about a 3 1/2 hr drive for us). You drove through our town of Shady Cove, OR on your way up to Bend from Grants Pass. Question: Do you remember (after many stops since then) what campsite # you were at while staying at the Scandia RV Park? It looked like a great place, plus my wife and I enjoyed your Q & A from there. We have been to Bend for quick visits, but plan to stay for 3 days this time to get more sights in. One more question: How did you like Richard's Donuts? Thanks and enjoy your escapades!!! John & Mitzi

It's always good to have extra fuses but I'm surprised you truck didn't come with extra fuses and a fuse puller. In my truck the fuses are located in two places, under the hood and behind the glove box. My extra fuses are located in the box behind the glove box. Don't know why they make them so difficult to get to. Also I was hoping you would have filmed you actually getting into the canoe, trying to decide if I would still be able to 😎

This may get to be longer than I antisipated. I searched "setting up the RV" and watched your how to video, thanks for that by the way, I learned some important stuff. This search was my first bit of research after making the decision to buy a 28-30ft travel trailer, and a truck, and head out from Wichita Kansas, stay in the Colorado area for 30-60 days, friends and family there. Then making our way to Washington and Oregon. RVing along the way. This decision is something that I've been thinking about for a very long time, I've never actually pulled the trigger, now I have the money and everything is just kind of falling into place, I was still apprehensive, stuck in the decision making/shopping process. I saw your video Saturday I think it was, subscribed, and since then i have binge watched almost all your videos, you guys are amazing just as a family, nevermind RVing fulltime, but I just have to tell you my apprehension is pretty much gone, I am getting more excited by the day, I am deciding between 3 really "good deals", I will make my decisions and purchases this week and will be on the road hopefully within 2 weeks. Your channel has been a wonderful source of information, inspiration and peace of mind about the whole thing. I just wanted to say thank you very much, and congrats on 50k subscribers.

If you want a beer Trish will like, try a Milk Stout not bitter at all.
An excellent one is Belching Beaver Brewery out of San Diego, try their Peanut Butter Milk Stout.
Like chocolate milk mixed with peanut butter.

LOVE Bend! I lived there three years. Worked for a local white water rafting company, snowboarded 3-5 times a week in the winters and floated or kayaked that river at least twice a week. Road my bike everywhere. I'm a huge craft beer lover so that town was perfect. The price of the RV parks is crazy! I don't know how we are going to afford the U.S.A portion of our overlanding trip, our daily budget is only $50 total per day for all three of us. Yikes.

Where are you now? Still in Mexico? OR had the best rates, but I'm guessing if your budget is $50 per day total, you would get dialed in on how to find good BLM and free camping. Have you looked into Boondockers Welcome and Harvest Hosts. Those are two other options when you're in expensive areas that don't have land around.

We reached Panama last month and turned around. Just got back into Nicaragua yesterday. I think we will be back in the states between Oct-Dec unless we decide to spend the entire winter in Baja. We will definitely get comfortable with the BLM lands, and our friends driveways.

Loose connections will cause heat, maybe someone worked in the fuse box and loosened that particular fuse in the process

could also be that the fuel pump is close to failure my Ford did this intermittent starting thing for 6 months prior to failure. The increased draw on the fuse and or connectors could be the fuel pump. My fuel pump failed at 95,000 miles

Great time in an awesome town!
I used to pass through Bend occasionally, back in the early ‘90s.
I think it’s gotten WAY more popular since then.
Thanks for the tip on the RV parks.
I really enjoyed watching Trish sample the beers.
Is she a beer convert now?
    Good Vibrations

Keep Your Daydream, Caleb is so funny! Great info! I love Bend! I'm very lucky to live this close to OR. When my sister graduates High School which will be in 4 years, we are probably planning on moving to AZ. Maybe we will live close to where you guys used to live! What was Carson saying at 23:34? Was Caleb trying to balance on the boat @ 23:37? Great video like always!! Like the music too! Glad you got your truck fixed!!

Semi-flexible solar panels are much better suited for portable installation. They are at least as efficient and lighter weight, because they do not need the bulky rigid casing. They are still as durable for practical use and can be purchased for similar pricing, less if you order from China. They are many times easier.

Can we get some advice? We are preparing to join you you full-time on the road, but we have no tow vehicle and no trailer. We are zeroing in on a trailer (maybe 24' with a slide or two) but the truck is the bugaboo. Personally, I'd like a 3/4 ton diesel but those suckers are EXPENSIVE. I see that you use a 1/2 ton EcoBoost 4X4 crewcab. What do you think? Is that truck and trailer perfectly acceptable or do you wish for something different? If you were like us and starting from scratch what kind of a setup would you pick? (I should let you know that we're not exactly loaded financially!)
We really have enjoyed your videos. The other Sunday I spent several hours binging on your stuff. Thanks for what you're giving us!

Our truck is deceiving. It has the 6.2L engine. Yet, the ecoboost is a good motor with good towing capacity. Here's what we did and check out our video on "how to pick the perfect RV". Keep your truck and get a TT that will work and get on the road. Figure out the perfect while you're RVing. What you like and don't like will change as your get more experience - no need to guess on what you *might like and spend $$ before you're 100% sure. Hope that helps. We have all the time in the world now to pic our perfect rig and it's not stopping us from having fun. The destination is the same no matter how you got there.

Marc I don't recall if you had to pay for the diagnostic on the truck? Good job on finding the fuse problem out with a little help from your friends!

    • @KeepYourDaydream
      @KeepYourDaydream  7 лет назад +4

Yes. $125. I understand the electrical work is charged per the hour, but considering they missed the problem and it was a Ford bulletin...I thought it would have been nice to apply the diagnostic fee toward the relocation kit labor cost and I would have had them do the work. They didn't want to do that... so I moved on.
