LITTLE FACT: 13:30 Zeus says "the cycle ends here" which was the phrase that Kratos used when he killed Baldur in GoW 2018
I'm amazed how well they did that whole cycle thing, zeus didn't kill his father, chronos, instead imprisoning him in tartarus (but killing pretty much every other titan), zeus heard a prophecy of a marked warrior killing him (or even one of his kids killing him I'm not sure) and he sends athena and ares to fetch deimos, which ends up biting him in the ass when kratos finally kills him at the end of gow3 despite zeus trying his best to kill kratos off completely, hence the cycle continued. And they also continued it in the norse saga, with baldur and freya, but this time kratos puts an end to the cycle, at least in their family. I hope they don't continue the cycle with kratos and atreus since they've both grown so much in the two norse games, but in general that whole storyline is done masterfully imo

For me it was 8 years of torture 😭 We didn't have enough money for the ps3 when I was a kid. Luckily I managed to play it later as an adult in someone else's console

God Of War 3 is absolute chaos for the olympians and I'm so excited to see your reaction to it, can't wait already
It's important to note that he isn't still just brooding over his family, it's also that the gods not only manipulated him into killing Ares FOR THEM (because he was destroying athena's temples) they also got bitchy when he started actually BEING A GOD instead of treating it as an empty title like he was just another mortal servant.
It's never JUST the lasting rage over his family (although that's definitely there), he's constantly being dicked over by the gods of olympus over some petty bs at every turn.
If you watch god of war 3, watch uncensored version so they won’t skip important parts

1:15:15 this is the moment Kratos got his rage of Sparta powers from the 2018 games. This whole game is basically power Kratos up to his ultimate form and for preparation of game three but no matter what happens to Kratos he always has the rage of Sparta after seeing his home and people burned away.

@@EduardoGBayod No he isn't Kratos says Atreus was carried home on his shield after turning the tide in a battle when Kratos was still in the Spartan Army, we never meet the Atreus, that Spartan is only ever referred to as the Last Spartan, and he too was an absolute badass.

I'm honestly surprised that you didn't recognize Prometheus, Perseus or Cronus. I forget that not everyone has at least a cursory knowledge of this stuff as it seems so common, but I guess that it helps that mythology actually interested me as a kid and onward. It definitely makes these boss fights cooler once you realize who Kratos is talking to. Hypes it up when you know you're about to go toe-to-toe with a mythological figure.
You are in for a absolute blast of God of War 3. I cant wait for you to watch it.
You should react to Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta next (they are canon), and after GoW 3 react to Ascension. There are also some comics with events that happen after GoW3.

GoW2 was directed by Cory Barlog who later returned to direct GoW2018. If you want even more GoW content I definitely recommend the documentary they made for GoW2018 called ‘Raising Kratos’ it goes deep into why a soft reboot was necessary and how Cory as a writer, director and father wanted Kratos to evolve.

During the fight with the Sisters, if you fail to stop the sword bridge from breaking, you get a cutscene of Kratos during his fight with Ares look over at the bridge, not seeing it, and accepting his death, resulting in a game over

Perseus's appearance in this game is modeled after his voice actor, Harry Hamlin, who had previously portrayed the character in the OG 1981 Clash Of The Titans film.
that was so cool how in the beginning he said he sealed the titans but you see them being teleported to the future with Kratos
Some were captured as seen in Chains of Olympus.
Zeus was voiced by Paul Eiding in the first game, (the colonel from Metal Gear Solid) and in this one and all the rest he's voiced by Corey Burton, who also played Zeues in the Hercules animated series as well as a ton of other recognizable roles. Paul Eiding plays Theseus now in this one also.
The best part of this game, in my opinion, is the voice acting. So much screaming and rage yet the voice anact it perfectly.
GoW 3 will blow your socks off. God imagine watching this guy playing through these games!

You wanted the theme of the battle agains Zeus, the theme is called "battle of Perseus" since it was the same theme of that fight. Also, one of my favorites of the game.
That last soldier of Sparta that went to the Sisters of fate was named Atreus, which is why Kratos named his son Atreus in GoW 2018.
Hmmm guna call cap on that. could have swore Kratos said he was a soldier int he army with him that always made him laugh and that he died in battle and Kratos mentions he carried him on his shield and buried him with all spartan honors and traditions.
@ Yeah you right, I’m sure Atreus would’ve loved to hear how the person he was named after was brutally killed in a fight with his dad instead, Atreus was fickle enough in GoW 2018, I doubt that would’ve been good for his psyche. But I see where you’re coming from.
In GoW 2018 Kratos literally tells Atreus (his son) that Atreus (the warrior) was one of his comrades who died bravely in battle and that Kratos carried his body home on his shield.
I believe he was called "the last spartan" within most sources. I don't think they actually ever gave him a name.
Also, the story he tells Atreus about his namesake seems to be from before his deal with Ares.
The Last Spartan isn’t Atreus of Sparta.
Kratos stated that Atreus’ sacrifice saved all of Sparta, and that he was buried with the Spartan customs.
The Last Spartan by his namesake is the last Spartan, and his body was eaten by the Kraken.

I started god of war with the 2018 title . Fell in love. Instantly bought GOW 3 remasters and Ragnarok.rewatching the older games with you is the best experience
This was one of my favorite PS2 games. It does show it's age nowadays graphically sometimes, but its still great fun.
If Kratos' mortality was confusing, just know that (as was revealed at the end) he's a son of Zeus, AKA a demigod with some degree of innate immortality (like not dying of age). By the end of GOW 1 he's a full God now that he's taken the place of Ares, but then his "Full God" powers get stolen and becomes a vulnerable, weakened demigod BUT with the favor of the Titans.
Fun fact: The blades here are technically NOT the Blades of Chaos, but the Blades of Athena, (they also changed name at the end of the last game).
Kratos's morality is confusing because he pulls a complete 180 from the previous game & literally becomes worse than. Ares yet expects you to somehow sympathise with him, it was such bad writing they had to make Ghost of Sparta to actually justify his anger to the gods
GOW 2 got a lot of things right & it is definitely a masterpiece but its story is its weakest part, especially compared to the first game.
This game is my favorite game in this franchise! And we could say, this is the best "cliffhanger" in gaming history imo!!! 💯🔥
If you want to learn more about Kratos' human family members, you should check out God of War: Ghost of Sparta.
It's a PSP prequel that takes place between 1 & 2, and reveals the history Kratos has with some of the characters in this game, like Atlas.
It also takes a deep dive into Kratos' youth, and time as a Spartan soldier.
Fun fact. GOW2 and GOW(2018) were both directed by Corey Barlog.
Both had some of the best moments and cinematics as far as using the camera and great lighting

in Greek mythology, are three monstrous sisters, the Gorgons, Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa. In the first game you did see Medusa get killed, this time it was Euryale.
This is by far the best GOW game ever made, narratively that is..

Kratos doing the exact same thing Ares was doing as God of War.
Originally the story for GOW 2 was going to be about his brother Deimos coming back to take revenge on Kratos but they changed it late in GOW 1's development to be about Kratos vs Zeus which is why the story of GOW 2 is quite messy (especially at the start).
I'd love to see a metal gear solid series cutscene analysis. The first two are great, but the 3rd and 4th have some amazing cinematography

You should watch the cinematics from ghost of Sparta and chains of Olympus. Those games are as important as the main series. They talk about his brother and why kratos has his tattoos and hates the gods so much

Actually, there's one game between Gow 1 and Gow 2. Called Gow Ghost of Sparta is a PSP game and has an important story. There's also Gow Chains of Olympus. You need to look at these before you look at Gow 3. If you are interested, there is even a gow game about the creation of the gow universe called Gow Ascension. Ascension also has a short live action trailer. If you're going to look Gow: Ascension you should watch the trailer in that video :D

after reviewing gow3, u should react to chains of olympus & ascension which are prequels to gow 1 and then ghost of sparta which is a prequel to gow 2!
Have you by chance watch any of the Mass Effect games cut scenes? I highly recommend mass effect.
Unfortunately this video you watched had completely messed up camera by whoever edited it to "censor" some stuff.
That's why the camera looked extremely weird sometimes, especially every scene in which Lakhesis appears.
I would recommend checking out God of war ghost of Sparta as well. Although it was made for the psp it has quite and important lore about Kratos
5:40 it's actually the blades of athena in gow2, I'm not sure what's the difference between them and the blades of chaos but in gow2 they are called differently, also in gow3 athena gives kratos the blades of exile, but the blades of chaos make their return in the norse saga.
