When speaking about supporting brass it is good to remind people that the case is soft and will expand on ignition. If the chamber is too tight the case will get stuck in the barrel and the ejector will be stressed and may break.
Loved this video!!! You broke down all the "misinformation" about supported vs. non-supported barrels in a short, but very concise video. Thank you!!!! Plus, the "fly" outtake was hilarious!!!!
Hello, can you please point me to the video where you discuss pros and cons of ramped vs standard barrels? I'm looking to build a frame that can accept both 9mm and 45 ACP uppers, which I think can only be done with a ramped barrel, but if ramped 45 ACP barrels are unreliable, I can build two frames instead. Thanks!
I would build 2 separate pistols. You have too many parts to change out from 45 vo 9mm, such as ejector, slide stop, stop plate and more. For 9mm I would suggest a ramped barrel 45 does not really matter. Even the 9mm will feed fine with an un-rampped if set-up correctly.
Been saying this for years. Ya have a feed ramp with a hitch in its get along or you have an integral ramp. Still youhave x amount of case hanging out the back on the bottom. Some folks get hysterical about a 9x23 with a standard barrel. I think they are lacking spatial perception🤓. Tell me where I’m wrong.
The kit I purchased years ago did need work to get the pistol tuned. It was short chambered & needed the hood fitted to the slide. All was minimal work. Turned out to be an accurate pistol.
Was wondering why my ramped kahr wouldnt feed the old federal hollow points while my unrampted 1911 will eat anything. The Kahr is supposedly higher quality than my shooters arms manufacturing 1911. Thank you so much atleadt i know why now. The jahr cw45 will only feed the polymer tipped roundnose hp.
For feeding there is a lot to take into consideration, It is just not about barrel geometry. You have to look at the entire mechanics of feeding. Barrel is a part but not everything. You need to look at extractor tension, barrel throat, barrel ramp or frame feed ramp, breech face, ejector(Possibly, but generally not), Slide stop, Magazine, bullet geometry…..So, you can see there is a lot in play here. See our feeding video’s here on RUclips.

Thanks again!
So I have a Fusion Freedom Series Long Slide 10mm can I shoot the Buffalo Bore ammo out of it it has standard non ramped barrel
Yes, you can, For heavy loads just use a heavier recoil spring such as a #22 or #24 LB.

You are correct..... I am actually doing some 9x23's today for customers, No ramp, fusion match barrels.
Great content! Barrels ordered from you guys, still need work?
Excellent, let us know if you need any help..

So why is there tons of old fogeys on forums saying that throating your berrals on a 1911 it's stupid and it should never be done?
Because they probably went too far one day and F-upped a barrel or 2 barrel. And yes, there is limits to the process
I AGREE WITH YOU IN GENERAL, HOWEVER MY 1911 RAMPED 40 SUPER WITH A BOT5TLE NECK CARTRIDGE IS FULLY SUPPORTED.
Super, You have a very special unit then....
