I'm brand new to solo board games and I learn best by watching others play first. You do a FANTASTIC job at not just explaining how to play a game, but explaining the set up and WHY certain things happen during a turn. Your playthroughs are so helpful, especially to a beginner like myself. Thank you very much!
I’m so glad I came across this video even though is 3 yrs old! I just bought the game and Rodney is my go to teacher for board games! I’m also happy he did a tutorial about a solitaire game 💯😁🤩
@@WatchItPlayed Rodney is the best teacher! He is so thorough and goes slow enough anyone can understand how to play. Why read the rules when you can have Rodney explain it for you. Thanks Rodney!
Yay! I’ve had this since I backed both the first and second version on Kickstarter, but found the rule book hard to grok. Thanks so much for doing this video, Rodney! Have a good holiday season!
I'll be getting this game in the mail today and I'm so glad you made this video, because the manual I found online wasn't very clear. I'm so excited to play now! Thanks!
Thanks for your video Rodney! As always, excellently and concisely explained throughout. Got this for Christmas and settling down for my first game .. Wish me luck! 😉
Hi Rodney, I love your videos, thank you for posting this. I managed to get a copy which proved to be hard, I am really looking forward to playing today after watching this awesome video :)
i played this a lot in tabletopia. The strategy i use it to get the threat track to the green area and reveal demands. Then work on getting powerful cards. Finally save the Hostages.
Personally, I find this game very difficult. This could be because I have yet to grok the underlying strategy, but after nearly 10 plays I have yet to win this game. Almost always lose because I have run through the terror deck. That said, I really enjoy playing the game and am very glad to see Watch it played tackle this older, solo game. Now I need WIP to do a tutorial for Nemo's War 2nd Ed as this is my solo game that I am trying to work through the rules right now.
I've played fairly successfully. I've also recorded my sessions play by play against each abductor in a single thread on boardgamegeek. It might be a bit dry, but I'm sure you can eek out some successful strategies by checking it out. boardgamegeek.com/thread/1844399/full-reports-i-go-through-each-abductor/page/1
I have a few abductor packs. Do I just mix all of those extra convo cards, etc. in and just keep the abductor specific cards together? I haven't played yet and bought the game second hand. It seemed like all mixed together..
Sorry, I lent my copy out to a friend, and don't have it handy to check on that for you. When open the box, you should be able to find some clear direction on how they are mixed in though - have fun playing!
This was from back in a time when RUclips had trouble determining which subtitles to create. I guess my Canadian English sounded very Dutch to the RUclips Bots!
@@WatchItPlayed thanks. I have a query. If I have revealed all the abductor's major demands can I still play the "what are your demands?" cards. (As they are free and you can get conversation points it seems desirable to be able to do so).
@@michaelmcguigan8771 Hi Michael, I shot this long enough ago that I don't recall what the video says, and I lent my copy to a friend, so I can't easily look up the answer for you. Sorry!
Question: When my threat level is at level K and I have one hostage remaining my roll resulted in a +1 to a threat and the release of a hostage. Since there is only one hostage is he saved, killed, or remain a hostage? Thanks!
Hey Jacob, I normally try to answer all questions on my videos, but I lent this one out to a friend, so I don't have it handy to check the rule book for you.
I'm new to the hobby and have a question... this game looks really interesting and something I would enjoy, but is the replayability high or low for this one? sorry if that's a dumb question; thought I'd ask before spending the money. Btw, love your channel! Your explanations are detailed and easy to understand!
Not a dumb question at all. I avoid reviewing on this channel though - because what I may find replayable, you may not. It's going to come down to your personal play style and preference. And I can't really say what that would be like for another person.
This looks oddly familiar, and I don't see this game on other channels I follow. Was there a videogame of this or something? Don't you hate that sensation, not remembering when or where you've watched something? XD
We play the game two players, one as the negotiator one as the abductor. the abductor rolls the dice and the negotiator plays the cards. we just try to fill in the conversation that happens in between. it's fun but it is still technically 1 player playing and making decision the other person is just there to laugh as they kill hostages.
Hi Chris, I avoid trying to assess that sort of thing. What's replayable to one person might not be replayable to another one. There are loads of expansions, I can tell you that though.
Wooo hoo!! Soloable game tutorials are awesome-especially when you play solo because you don't have a group to learn with :)
I agree. About 25% of my games are played solo, and sometimes it is nice get help with learning the rules.
Glad you enjoyed :)
Christopher Gordy I play solo probably 95% of the time hahaha

perfect game for the corona virus lockdown period

Can you do Star Wars rebblion

Super Toast i have played it 3 times so far, its Amazing!
I really like this solo-game :-)
The intro is great. That effect looks awesome.
We recently bumped the intros and outros up to 4K like the rest of the videos - glad you like it!
hi, can I grant a greater request during the discussion phase and go with the negative points?
Sorry, I'm not quite sure what you're asking.
Is this like a pregame to final girl and are all van ryder games about the same?
Final Girl took some inspiration from this, but no, the other games in their catalogue are quite different. You can check their website to see.
Can u play please order of the gilded compass

This is only single-player game?
This is a single player game.
Nothing to fear.... good games can go alone (for my part i should say descent and mage knight )

I'm not sure on that one. The board game has been around for awhile, so maybe you're just remembering that?
Rahdo did a run-through ages ago. And this remains an interesting game; glad it was brought to my attention once more.
There was a mobile adaptation.

fair enough! I shall wait and hope! Haha
Is there a way to play this game with multiple players? Either an official or unofficial variant?
kerblo I would also be interested in that. I hope some fan would create a variant to play in more then just solo.
I suppose you could play it with someone else, with you each sharing the decision making process.
We play the game two players, one as the negotiator one as the abductor. the abductor rolls the dice and the negotiator plays the cards. we just try to fill in the conversation that happens in between. it's fun but it is still technically 1 player playing and making decision the other person is just there to laugh as they kill hostages.
But with the second negotiator from the expansion is there a possibility to combine the two negotiator?
I haven't gone through the Crime Wave rules fully, but as I understand it, there isn't an official way to have 2 negotiators/players.
On my wishlist since May 2017
Got it today
Hope you enjoyed it!
