I put my door in place (2 new PT sheets plywood 3/4" and 1/2") into the doorway with a 2 x 4 inside to hold it from falling in and shimmed all the way around, pieces of 1/2" plywood did the trick, then drilled the hinge holes, then screwed the aluminum sheeting to it and put on the door outer aluminum casings with the gasket, drilled drain holes in the bottom one, fits perfect, also used 3M 5200 slo cure on all bolt holes and hardware and corner pieces. Blocks and jack for controlling the position and weight when i had to remove bolts to put on aluminum sheeting and hinges, also drilled hinge holes tight so it wouldn't sag came out perfect altho pretty heavy now.
Thank you. Nice job. My door isn't rotted it is bent. The aluminium frame looks somewhat similar but it is glued together incredibly strongly. I have tried twice to get the alli off to hammer it straight. I gave up. The lock is also broken. That was a casualty of the door bending out of shape.
My solution is that I am going to build a decorative new door from scratch. My design with a window and different hardware. This is going to be a massive challenge but I think it is the only way forward.
I stumbled across this 2-part series while looking for some info about how to replace the ramp cables and how to adjust the tension of a torsion spring. I must say, I really enjoyed watching your videos about how to rebuild a side door. The side door of my 5x8 cargo trailed is starting to show signs of rot along the bottom edge, so I started taking it apart myself. That's when I quickly realized this might be a 2-person project! Removing the strap hinges alone requires two people, if only to remove the nuts and bolts, let alone physically removing the door and placing it on saw horses! I also have a tremendous amount of appreciation for how long it took to clean the old silicone off the old skin. OMG, I laughed for an hour after watching that segment! It's so true! If I lived closer to the my local supplier, I would buy new skin just to avoid cleaning the old skin! Anyway, thank you for your very informative, commonsense videos and for your dry sense of humor! Made my day. Hey you don't happen to have anything about torsion springs, do you?! :)
Thanks for watching. Yep those doors are heavy. Sorry, I don't know anything about those torsion springs. I have them on y trailer as well and mine need some attention too.
Great Job. I always learn something from Your video's. Look's like Your Lady can use a Rachet Wrench just fine. It's alway's great when a Married Couple can work together to get a job done.
Thanks MT. She is a good partner, we even own a divorce kayak and have survived it. :)

Thanks Vince. How is life in Florida?
@@FakeLegGreg Life is good!! Beautiful weather!!
Where do you live? Maybe you could help me with my door , Wonderful job.
Why didn't you use a jigsaw instead of the sawzall?
A person uses the tools that he has on hand. Make the most of what you have got. Thanks for watching.
What size is the torx bit on the inside of the hinge I’m rebuilding mine now but I don’t have anything that big
I will have to let you know when I return home. On the road at the moment.
Hi! Can you tell me what that aluminum trim frame is actually called? I'm trying to cut out a piece of the side of my box truck to create a door and can't find anywhere!
I think it is called H channel extruded aluminum. www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/TRC/36281-955.html?feed=npn&gclid=Cj0KCQiAvvKBBhCXARIsACTePW-QjKLfL03XE-MtoMW93Ssy9-zHi4bXAy4j_YZFogrpydoS9RM9VWEaAlCkEALw_wcB
