@@glambyaliceta No, I don't use an external monitor, but in principle it shouldn't give you any problems. Try updating the firmware on your laptop or changing the cable or connector. It should help.

I'm using i7 variant and it's performance is great in 2024. It is better than latest i3 laptop in 2024.but I would not suggest gaming in it. But if you are considering for coding or editing it's great then go for it.
After four years of using it working from home, When I boot it up i'm starting to get this issue where i'm getting the message that the fan doesn't turn on. The computer deactivates as a proquestionary measure and then I turn it back on and it works perfectly.

If you call HP sometimes they will have new ones and close to new 96-97% battery health remaining and up for cheap. One time I bought a battery from them that came out of a damaged laptop and they sold it to me for $30 CAD and when I installed it and tested it, it had 7 charge cycles and was at 100% battery health. 🙏🙏💯
"Good" always depends on what you want to do with it. Run Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk 2077> No. Run Office, watch a full HD movie, maybe simple 4K content, play a game on low settings>Yes.

The Surface Pro 5 will surprise most users if power and portability is important. I like the build quality a bit better in the Pro 5 when up against the EliteBook in my opinion. 🙏
