My wife, Stephanie and I work as musicians onboard cruise ships, and right now, we are contracted on the Norwegian Viva. Today was such a big day! We had rehearsal, we got to explore a new port - Kotor, Montenegro, we performed in the Atrium, we performed in Ocean Music Fest in the Viva Theater, and we got to enjoy Spa Night! We are counting down the days to the end of our contract (21 days!) and this was a great day!

Im addicted to these videos, I cant believe its almost a year already. I never thought of how much rehearsal time went into the shows, its great seeing all these exotic places too. Do you ever eat in the lido area? On one of our NCL cruises the comics would come and eat there.

NCL has some pretty strict policies, even more so on this ship. The comedians can absolutely eat anywhere they please. The cast of the production show can eat on the lido deck as well, so can the Syd Norman’s band, as well as the bandmaster (our manager), and the principal musician (guitar soloist). However, the two duos and the 4 piece party band are excluded from the privilege to eat in guest areas.
On Carnival, that was different. Carnival gave the entertainment privileges to all of the entertainers.

@@h5mind373 thank you, as always!! The rehearsals needed to keep the show up and running are usually fairly painless, unless it interferes with the ability to get time in port! Luckily, this time was fine because our rehearsal ended before crew was granted access to the tender boats!

Just discovered your channel and love it! We‘ve been on Norwegian Prima last year and loved the entertainment. We will be on the Viva in November/December this year and are wondering if you two will be onboard as well?
Hi!! I’m glad you found us, and I’m so excited you’ll be on the Viva, but I hate to inform you that we will miss you. Our contract on the Viva will end on July 27th. We will not be here when you arrive.
You’ll still have an amazing time, I’m sure of it!
Cool video. Haven't checked your content for a while but good to see it. Did you get told exactly which shows or performances you will be doing throughout the contract? e.g. the Ocean music show in addition to your normal performances
@@stevenponte6655 thanks for coming back! Great question - we were told that Ocean Music Fest was an additional show, on top of our responsibilities as lounge musicians. However, the amount of work that went into launching this show, and the number of rehearsals that are needed when a vocalist is ill, or someone’s contract ends and we get a new band member, or even just to fix a mixing issue were not really laid out for us.
It’s a lot of additional work, but the show is so much fun and we all love it, so it is more than ok for us. Also, luckily, we only have to perform one set in addition to the sound check and the show on the nights we have OMF. That wasn’t always the case!
