Why not simply get the sound guy to take one (or more) aux out from his desk to the input on your wireless IEM transmitters. The sound guy can then mix your IEM mix (which you set up in sound check). In my experience, many sound guys don't like bands using split snakes, especially because the sound guy would then have to unplug the mics for the drums and plug them into your split snake (so you can mix the drums through your IEMs) - most sound guys would find this a lot of hassle. Unless you absolutely NEED to mix your own IEMs or record your own multitrack audio at a festival, ditch the split snake and just get the sound guy to plug an aux or 2 from his mixer to your wireless IEM transmitter(s). I'd be interested to know how you deal with the issue of drum mics when using a split snake at a festival because if there's a shared drum kit and the sound guy has already miked it up and connected to his multicore/desk, he's not gonna love having to unplug all the drum mics and plug them into your split - how do you get round this?

David, I'm totally impressed. Back in the 80s, I played a 5 week tour of the southwest. 7 nights in Albuquerque, 6 nights in Tucson, 13 nights in El Paseo and 4 more nights in Tucson. We customized our 17' truck with a 4 bunk sleeper and would run a 100' power cable into a cheap motel room with 2 queen beds into the bathroom outlet. You guys...9 months! Total road dogs!! Now I’m back watching your vids about recording the audio from the digital mixer into logic…my question is how do you record each of your individual mix’s on each bus into logic…trying to make some content showcasing what each band member hears in their ears but I dunno how to record bus’s into logic.

Hey, I just stumbled across your channel. Loving everything I see. I just wanted to let you know that here in Australia if you're a member of a Musicians organisation.. here in Oz its APRA with some airplane companies you get and extra 65kg and upto 4 bags each member of the band or group. Virgin has this as their musicians allowance. Thought I'd share incase it helps in future for your travels. Keep up the great inspiring work. Luke

David: Not sure what kind of case that was that got damaged, but I just watched a very good video about road cases being abused. I'm talking about being dropped off trucks, off balconies, etc. Humes & Berg beat out SKB, & Gator Cases in every way. But yeah, I've heard so many horror stories about guitars and gear being destroyed by airlines thru the years. Can't wait to hear about your next cruise ship gig. y'all keep on rockin. 😉

As my son plans to do more away gigs I will add his gear as a rider to our home insurance- it's cheap peace of mind. Yes, annoying to have to replace damaged or lost gear, but better than having to do so out of your own pocket! Welcome home, btw. Looks like you're getting a well-earned rest.

That was a wild story, I know about the breaking of guitars on these flights, McCartney gets a seat for his bass. That tour seemed to go by quickly at least for me watching your videos but Im sure getting back with your son is just fantastic. I know yu already said its not NCL but it would have been cool, Im going NCL through Greece in sept.
