Yeah... Sorry. I used to think that it was a question of how fast the UK, France, and Germany could muster armour that would determine a war with Russia. I always thought that Russia would probably reach Poland. But having seen Ukraine, I don't think Russia would get past the Baltics.
Why would they past Baltics and risque starting WW3? Ukraine is much stronger than all three combined Baltic states even without nato help. Ukraine was the second biggest European army in terms of numbers and armor after Russian army before this conflict. Russian current goal is Russian speaking Donbass region and not whole Ukraine. This is why they only commited only a part of its troops there. Russians had partial mobilization three months ago unlike Ukraine who has a full mobilization now.
Article 5 only states the OPTION to include an armed response to any invasion of a member state. Article 5 mentions "whatever action is deemed necessary", which might just be a strongly-worded letter! Article 5 is a deterrent to Russian aggression, but a long way from being a guarantee. If Russia demands occupation of the Russian speaking sliver of Latvia, it would be foolish to assume Portugal and Belgium will declare war on Russia over that.

Nato has other allies as well like country's in the Pacific like NZ Australia, and others. As well as Thailand, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia in Asia
Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Timor Leste. We Asean have our own problems so we are friends with Nato only in the military but in the economy we are at war with members of Nato/other western countries. We are also under threat, especially China and America because the nuclear submarines that will be made in Australia, Malaysia and Singapore agree on that but still Indonesia, which is always negotiating to make the two countries, does not agree and it can create a big fire in the ASEAN region. . Now the war with Russia, Ukraine, moreover, many ASEAN countries are neutral except for Singapore (a country that is always the source of problems that always follows the wishes of western countries). Southeast Asia, in fact, Asia, for centuries was at the crossroads of imperialism, domination of great powers, exploitation, destruction. We are the most affected by the great power competition, and because of that, we have arrived at our own way, the Asian way, to solve this challenge. Our shared experience of being dominated, enslaved, exploited forces us now to try to create a peaceful environment. In essence, friendship. We have differences, we have competing territorial claims. But our view is, we should strive for mutual understanding, for communication, and we are proud that we achieved nearly 50 years of peace, friendly cooperation and prosperity. So we are never afraid to fight against other western countries even though we are given sanctions, we are ready to face these sanctions or have to side with whoever we choose to be neutral because your enemy is not necessarily our enemy.

NATO Article 5 is a clause in the 1949 treaty establishing the NATO alliance between the United States, Canada, and the majority of European countries. According to Article 5, an attack on one member of NATO should be interpreted as an attack on all members of NATO. This means that if one NATO country is attacked, even another NATO country is obligated to go to war. As tensions around the world heated up in 2022, especially after the Russian Invasion of Ukraine many feared that Article 5 might be invoked and lead to a world war. Memes such as the Poland Wojak Pushing Nato Article 5 Button meme responded to this anxiety with jokes and dark humour.

No country is obligated to go into war. Read article 5. Each member decides on their own how can they help. Military involvement is absolutely one of the options, but it's not mandatory. Requested by the USA.
there should be a world rule: "if you don't want to be attacked, DON'T ATTACK, AND MURDER INNOCENTS, AND DON'T MURDER YOUR OWN PEOPLE ON THE PRETEXT OF BETRAYAL BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO KILL!!!!"
Very good job fellows!! Congratulations. Greeks and Turks having to help each other in case of war "This has been the worst alliance deal in the history of alliance deals, maybe ever."
Greeks and Turks are not mortal enemies. They have deviating views about territory. But in times of need, they'd help eachother out, like greece did after the earthquake in Turkey. People living near the borders are good friends btw.
Russia and it's allies love to complain about the expansion of NATO and yet never ask the question WHY a bunch of nations close to Russia are choosing to join a military alliance for mutual security of their own free will. The biggest cause of NATO expansion is Russia itself. If post cold war Russia became a liberal, democratic and responsible actor on the world stage, NATO would likely be pretty much redundant by now. As it is, Russia has chosen constant belligerence, blackmail and violence against it's neighbours, in essence not accepting the USSR is gone and it has no right to meddle in it's neighbours affairs. If Russia deems NATO a threat, it's only because Russia is a threat.
You probably have no idea what kind of war it is, since you think in such a primitive way. There are 4 Ukrainian soldiers for one Russian, do you think it is possible to win quickly? I understand that you only watch Ukrainian videos, where there are only solid victories. But no one will ever say how many losses she has. And as for Europe, let's think about it normally, Russia basically has no reason to do this. So countries can't decide their fate? Eastern Europe must become Russian puppets, how about no. They can decide their own fate. I don't think NATO is needed to keep Russia from conquering Europe. In fact, I don't think Europe needs assistance from the US to keep Russia from conquering Europe. I'm not saying the US shouldn't be involved in NATO or helping Ukraine. I'm only saying what I said. Europe could handle Russia without the US if necessary. It just wouldn't be the preferred plan.
I think there are many reasons preventing Russia to destroy Europe. The fact they can’t win against the poorest country on the continent gives a glimpse of how they would do against France, the UK or even Germany. They would get absolutely wrecked.
What worries me is the fact that westerners actually believe in this garbage. Russia has been trying to establish friendly relationship with EU and USA, but only got ridiculed in return. Germany wanted to be friends with Russia, and every time it was punished for it by the satanists from the White House. US doesn't want EU and Russia being allies. They want a constant war everywhere except for their own continent. That's their idea of how to stay in power.
As a united states citizen I can clearly state that the will of the government and the will of the people are different. The uncontrolled spending on other nations is hurting our economy and our people. These nations should be responsible for paying their part themselves, we wish to pull back and work on fixing things in our own nation for the time being.
Look at the other organizations that are out there. Yes and nobody cared even if that is true. As the polish president/pm very aptly put it, Ukraine would never have had to defend itself if russia hadn't attacked it. As such, that makes russia solely responsible, regardless of what flag is on the missile.
And how many wars did USA start compared to Russia. NATO is all about US starting a new war and then profiting from selling weapons. War in Ukraine would be over by now if it weren’t for US.
Article 5 doesn't say that signatory countries would go to war , it simply state that they would think about it there also is some territorial exception , such as colonies , Gibraltar and the like
What happens if a NATO country attacks another NATO member? And following up, what happens if a not NATO country attacks a member while there's a war between 2 NATO members?
The most likely outcome is that both countries will be left to sort it out on their own as member countries agreed to defend each other against external threats, not fight amongst each other. The country who attacks may be kicked out of NATO over time for resorting to war against fellow NATO member. So if France attacks Germany. Most members most likely won't get involved. If while they fight Russia attacks Estonia then NATO members would probably all go to war against Russia. France and Germany would delcare war on Russia too, but won't get involved too much as they are busy with each other.
Europe already is way stronger than russia, like UK alone spends more money on military than russia. Then you have France, Germany, Italy, Spain etc, not even mentioning the powerhouses like Poland and Finland (very strong even with a smaller budget)
The more acurate description would be: "the tool of American geopolitical hegemony which forces the hand of other nations to justify its continuation and mask its true intentions".
Let's be honest here. NATO Art. 5 isn't 'keeping Russia from destroying Europe'. Russia, as it is right now, couldn't hope to defeat any medium to large European country without full mobilisation ... and even then ... And even if it tried to conquer, say, Poland in earnest, the EU couldn't afford to sit by. France and Germany wouldn't want any incursion in the EU's sphere of influence -- and neither would any other European (sans Serbia maybe?). And yes, nuclear weapons exist. But they do in Europe, too. Not in the ridiculous overabundance as in Russia, to be sure. But more than enough to retaliate and target any major western Russian city. Let's not forget that countries like Germany are only nuclear weapons-free on paper. Firstly, they have American weapons in their country. Secondly, they have the means to make them at relatively short notice should they need to. Or just start developing more with French in a low-key agreement like they initially planned to do (in the sixties, I think?). Anyway, NATO Art. 5 surely is important, no mistake. But let's not pretend that Europe is trembling at Russia's posturing.

Looks like nato was justified, just not against the ussr but little Russia instead
How? The US is footing most of the bill. If we’re “forcing the hands of other nations,” we’re apparently not doing a very good job.
@@CJ-442 To be fair, having them rely on the US could also allow the US to have more influence over than they otherwise would have.
And now Poland managed to weaponize it AGAINST russia, which is something poland would deffinitelly do
Let's be honest here.
Hope this treaty never gets tested.
Please do a video on the 1955 St Lawrence Island Cold War shootdown Incident!
Wait? Mr Vladdy Poo wants Europe? Now that’s our propaganda haha
He couldn’t take it even if he wanted to.
Only thing that prevented USSR to conquer Europe was France nuclear program, the USA and USSR signed secret treaty during the cuban crisis where they allowed the use of tactical nukes in Europe in case of war but forbid the use on each other soil, Charles De Gaulle knew about the deal and said he will fire nukes at Moscow then Washington if nukes are employed in Europe. ruclips.net/video/UJ57Vd-162Y/видео.html
