I recommended "The Highly Sensitive Person" to my younger son. As a child, everyone thought he was very shy, but I realized early on that he was just highly sensitive and needed space. He's very artistic and sensitive to other people's feelings. He has a Masters in social work and has spent the last 20 plus years working with people with mental challenges. That child that everyone thought was so shy runs a program for the mentally ill that provides a place to come in a clubhouse environment so that they don't feel isolated. He arranges outings, patient art shows, holiday parties, and a safe place to interact with others. I'm so proud of the work my son does. Being a highly sensitive person is a gift.......
I am74 yrs. old. I STILL read children's books. When I am anxious or depressed I always go to children's books (sometimes Winnie the Pooh). or Psalms. I have many little reading friends. It is SOOO important children read. Thank you🤗
I’m Japanese and studying English. After reading the novel Where the Crawdads Sing, I was moved by the beauty of living in nature, so I started watching this channel. The pronunciation is so clear and easy to understand, and since I’m tired of city life, I long for this kind of lifestyle.
Agreed! That glow is very special. And the joy & energy that comes through her, she laughs & smiles so much more...all this despite having many sleepless nights, and feeling tired.
The Secret Garden was my favorite book as a child. As an adult, I love the theme of healing through cultivating friendships and a long-forgotten garden. Rereading a book as an adult, that you loved as a child, reminds me of a quote by C.S. Lewis: “…some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.”
The Chronicles of Narnia - I received the 7-book boxed set in my teens for Christmas one year, all packed into a lovely cardboard sleeve from Penguin Publishing (I'm now 68). I will never part with it and still enjoy reading them from start to finish every now and then. Thanks so much for this lovely posting Paola.....love to the fam! 🙂💝📖📚
The wall color, the variety of books and the wood are pleasant to my eyes, and they project a lovely mood. You in your green dress against the backdrop of the library create a perfect charming scene. I enjoyed your presentation very much.
It is so heartwarming to see you with such a glow! Motherhood has certainly agreed with you! I too, love many of the books you shared---kindred spirits!
I love your book list. One of my all time favorite books is The Secret Garden. I’ve always loved the English countryside with castles and manor houses that hold a lot of secrets.
That book has always been my favorite too- I had a beautiful illustrated copy growing up I would try and copy the pictures in - plus the 1993 movie adaptation, while not scene for scene 1:1 to the book, is also perfection ❤
This is maybe my most favorite video of yours. You are a wonderful speaker! Please don’t be gone for too long, but take all the time you need. We’ll miss you 🥰
Books are my friends. I have so many and find myself reading every day. Some books I pass on. Some are such good friends that I keep their tattered and frayed pages and read them over and over again. Now I have grandchildren to read to. Introducing them to the books I read their mother when she was small, the books I read their uncles when they were small, is one of my chief pleasures when I take care of them.
Books are life. I have been recently scouring markets and amazon for my old childhood books that I feel like have helped me mold who I am today. I am now 45 and the magical feeling of seeing and holding them again is the same magic over and over again.
i smiled a lot throughout this video. not because i like books or reading but because its nice to see someone talk so passionately about things they like.
My favorite book when I was young was Island of the Blue Dolphin. I read it so many times I can still recite the first paragraph ( I am now 67!) I researched what happened to her after she was rescued, and even named one of my dogs after her "wild dog Rontu" Books are our friends for life!
You're my kindred spirit! I own a copy and have read it many times since childhood. My favorite book ever. I researched what happened to that poor, lonely woman too. Such a sad story of loss and survival, and so well written.
Very well Said. I'm 61 I'm thankful I stayed true to my likings also. I enjoy your videos and I watch with my granddaughter because she's into you. She will actually sit with me and watch every time. You're such a beautiful person!
There is a cozy mystery series Cottage Tale mysteries by Susan Wittage Albert...you would like them. It's about Beatrix Potter and she lives in a quiet village and she lives back in the day and there is a mystery to solve and the animals in the village have there own mystery to solve.
It was Paola and Darking Desi that made me read those books! A series of 8 books. I reread them this spring, so cute, funny and cosy and sometimes quite emotional
The bookcase your husband made for you is so beautiful and stunning! And its rich colour and texture showcase your marvellous books so well. You are absolutely radiant in this video and your love for books is beaming with you! Thank you for this lovely moment. 🥰
I love Frog and Toad 🐸 I read these books to a vision impaired client for 25yrs and everytime it was like a read it for the first time. The humor is great! Sadly my client passed but I was given her books that I now cherish! ❤
Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorites, and I would say changed my life in that Anne is my hero, and I hold her in my mind as inspiration for the kind of person I want to be. Her boldness and bravery in staying true to herself, despite facing great tragedy and rejection is so inspiring ❤
Anne of Green Gables is my ultimate favorite book! OMG I still have many of L.M. Montgomery's books from my childhood, Anne Shirley is still my most favorite character even as a 48 year old.
Paola- I picked up a 1970s reprint of “The country diary of an Edwardian Lady” and thought of you immediately- it’s one of the most beautiful illustrated journals out there; I hope it’s on your bookshelf as well.
Dear Paola, you look so well and happy. Always know that YOU ARE ENOUGH! Loved this vlog on books. My mama always says books can be your best friend…they are a constant, they do not judge, they can be life altering. Hoping Luke and little fairy prince are well and thriving also. Much love, Francesca ❤❤❤
My grandmother read books to me until I learned to read by myself. The first book I remember reading as a child was the Laura Ingalls Wilder books Little House on the Prairie. Later I moved on to the Nancy Drew books and have read all of them several times, even as an adult. I love escaping into the pages of books.
Paola, you are the only youtuber i can spend hours listening to. Your ability to communicate is amazing. Also, your charming personality and beautiful voice are a complement. I really enjoy your videos.
I write children's books and I love it. Always wanted to but hitting 60 I decided to self publish on Amazon and now I have about 25 books. Its so exciting.
Writing for children has been on my list of things to do for some time now but I haven't started yet. I just wanted to stop by and congratulate you and celebrate your achievement! Thanks for sharing your gift with the world.
You inspired me to read children books again. I started collecting and reading about a year ago. So enjoyable and fun. Thank you. I am 62 yrs old and love to step back in time.
Literally you are peace and ease for Me. I am watching you from so so long. At this time of fast, and hustle life your calming voice and slow life videos and smoky face is such a gift for so many. I was watching you in my hard time. And it encouraged me to start living again. Your videos are making me feel that life is so beautiful. Your visit in jungle, in gardens , touching flowers and trees reminds me of my childhood in our big home with a garden and I was touching and feeling plants the way you do. Thank you so much for your time to make such videos. Please keep making it❤.
I was given a Hilda Boswell's, "Treasury of Poetry," for my 2nd Christmas. I grew up first looking at the beautiful illustrations; she drew little fairies and tiny people, in so many of the pictures. I loved so many of the poems but now my favorite is, "The Jumblies". My mom also collected all of Beatrix Potter's little books as well as the figurines!!
I love how you glow with excitement while talking about books! Isn’t it amazing how a book can influence you throughout your life? I love how your title today said, “so far.” It is a literary journey that will never end! I enjoy discovering a new author or even an older one that I’ve never read before! I always take a stack of books to read when my husband and I go camping. You have given me lots of choices!!! My son never liked reading, he struggled. But he DID love being read to. When I read him “Dinotopia” he (and I) began to think that there truly was a place like that. He even wrote the author. Books make a huge impact in our lives! Thanks to amazing writers with unbelievable imaginations! Wonderful video!! Thank you for sharing about your thrift store find! What a treasure!
I've never seen such a glorious change in someone after becoming a mother. My favorite RUclipsr Caroline Winkler said: I think I will not fully become myself until I become a mother. You were certainly fully yourself before, but now I see in you a motherly confidence and strength that gives you a new layer of depth, new glow, new layer of beauty... It is so humbling to see how being a mother brings out all the hidden treasures of your being. Love you.
@@Maria-Voichita Actually, I've noticed the change since the video "I don't know where to start. Life update". Different, confident posture and happiness in the facial expressions cannot be denied. In this video makeup is very discreet. Paola has never looked happier. There is a moment in one of her video's where she is rocking the baby, like the baby is flying, I was mesmerized, it brought some memories from my childhood of unconditional love and the certainty that everything will be alright forever.
Born Free by Joy Adamson was significant for me. Cry of the Kalahari. Harry Potter series. James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small. Just some of many. Love reading so much!
All creatures great and small & the wonderful English TV series from the 70s actually inspired my older daughter to become the vet she is today (since last December) 🙂
I have been watching your videos today - I discovered you on my UTube. One video really ‘hit’ me, it was you explaining your business decisions. You really are on the right path and it answered a question for me personally. I’m 85 and spend a lot of time sitting as I have trouble walking. I felt valueless as I do so little. Listening to you I realized I have value as a human no matter how little I contribute any more. I worked very hard for 50+ years raising my children, often working two jobs. I am so much calmer now and I will no longer wonder why I am still here!! I actually love my slow pace and I will embrace it from here onward. THANKYOU for your video that led to my sudden acceptance of my present life. Peace and love. 💞💞
I wish I could find the video you referred to. I am 72 & support you wholeheartedly. When I give myself permission to do as much or as little as I want I feel more serene and content. I too have come to realize that simply being me is valuable. Another lady said she finds reading children’s books calming, so I plan to browse old bookshops hunting for old copies of childhood favorites that have dates and notations in the margins. When I was little my mother subscribed to “Highlights for children” for me and I devoured them! I may try to find a “like new” copy to see if it gives me as much pleasure working the puzzles, finding hidden pictures, reading about Goofus and Gallant, and more!
@@user-ei8rb7sj6c the video was called Bad Decisions I Made as a Business Owner’. I went on UTube under The Cottage Fairy! - a video came up and to the right her other videos were listed. Hope this helps, GOOD luck! 💗
Something that has unexpectedly been really fun for me as a parent of a nearly two year old is reading all of the books to him since birth, moving along to more advanced books as he ages. One that stands out the most is Goodnight Moon. We read it every night to him for over a year as the last book before bedtime and now that he's older he loves finding the mouse on the pages. That book has so many layers, the art is truly one of a kind, the way the words flow is melodic and comforting. Just a really amazing book that I never fully appreciated until I read it for a year straight lol
I love your art work! I ordered some on Etsy after you began selling again after your son was born, and I love it! Receiving an envelope with a sticker, a bookmark, a postcard and a signed beautiful work of art was like receiving a gift from a friend. Thank you!
Beautiful reviews and insights. I’m an English teacher and I’m convinced that being an avid reader as a child influenced my ability to write and appreciate all things written. I ‘absorbed’ punctuation; I wasn’t taught it, but more than anything, I absorbed turns of phrases and how words put together in certain ways can ‘dance’ across the mind. I especially love it when a set of words make you put the book down and pause to fully pay attention to your own thoughts they provoked. There’s nothing passive about reading. 10 years ago, when I was 50, I started a new life and job in Yorkshire, England, 70 miles from my hometown of Widnes near Liverpool. Technically, it was less than a two hours’ drive away, but emotionally, it was a wrench. My friend bought me a copy of “Oh The Places You’ll Go” by Dr Seuss because she understood the fear/adventure for me. It’s honest but essentially uplifting. Last year, my youngest son, his wife and their two infant and toddler children sold up and went slow travelling round the world, starting in the Americas. On the eve of their new adventure, I bought them a copy of the same wonderful book and wrote a poem in it. As they were travelling light, I kept the book safe and orated it, so they can play the recording on their phone. At one point, I couldn’t help getting tearful. It’s all captured, but that book is for anyone starting something new, brave, wonderful or fearful. I highly recommend it for any age or circumstance, wonderful or otherwise. Thank you for being you, Paola. Your world and perspective is one to cherish. From a 60 year old to a 20-something, you teach me a lot of wonderful things and I’m grateful to you for that. Motherhood becomes you. What a fortune for your little boy to have such gentle parents with good thoughts. Xx
I just checked in on RUclips with another of my favorite channels, Jonna Jinton. Then I saw a new video was available from you, Paola, so here I am. You and Jonna both produce videos featuring creativity, gentle contemplation, exploring nature, coping with the ups and downs of life, self-care, and living life to the fullest in the realm of personal growth, gratitude, and acceptance. You also both treasure your animal companions. You are a humane, positive presence on RUclips, and this world could benefit from a few thousand more people just like you! If at any time you are struggling due to life's challenges, just remember that over a MILLION people have benefited from your presence in their lives via RUclips and your art. Thank you for all you do. I look forward to your next video creation.
Perhaps your new avenue would be to create a channel pertaining to books and niche in something unique and personal to you. I would love that! I love your being your very refreshing and classical whimsical :)
I'm a HSP too and found Susan's book so illuminating. I'm an empath too, discovering the difference between the two changed my life. Also love Keats so much. His life was too short.
I read the Traveling Cat Chronicles based on your recommendation and absolutely loved it. Teared up reading it a few times. I love your videos about books. They have so much wisdom to share ❤
Being 47 I'm still discovering so many interesting books and hopefully I'd never get tired of it! I was being raised with book-loving mum and although in my country wasn't very much beautifully edited books available, she was hunting for second hand shops and bying me old , often beautifully illustrated books. That's how I got to know Astrid Lindgren's books - my absolute favorite was "Lion Heart Brothers". Also when I was a young teenager I loved Lucy's Maud Montgomery books (the whole series of Anne of Green Gables, Emily of New Moon). "The Blue Castle" has a special place in my heart even now.
Grew up myself and raised my two girls with Astrid Lindgren's books - adorable, fun, full of strong amazing kids, girls and boys alike - The film 'Astrid' captures her life beautifully. 💖
your book shelf and office space is so pretty. your husband did such a great job with those shelves. your collection of books is also to be admired . 💗
I adore Alexander McCall Smith's Ladies Detective Series and Zafon's series was amazing ...so many books are coming to mind including books for children but really for all😍❤
I love to read too. I will have to go to the library and check out the children’s books. I didn’t get many books when I was a little. My friend gave me all her Nancy Drew books when I was 12. Loved them. From then on I have become a lifelong reader.
As a young child I was given one of the seasonal books in Fritz Baumgarten's collection. I think it was Summer in the Enchanted Forest. My sister got Spring I believe. I've spent hours if not days or weeks staring at those illustrations. They are just such a big part of my childhood!
I love the way you book talk. I am a library director and would hire you. Your passion for books and creativity captivates me, and I’m 62. No matter what the age, we can all teach each other when we are so passionate about something. Hugs
The Secret Garden. I was in Venice and I would try to sneak peeks behind the iron rod gates into peoples garden. To this day, if I walk by a gate or iron rode gate, I will stretch my neck to peer in 😊😊😊
Thank you for this great video. I am a book lover and I love to hear about different genres of books. Your channel is very comforting. God bless you and your family.
Dear Paola, hope you see this, I had to pause the video to say this even before I watch it because I always know what I’ll be getting from you, I sincerely thank you for all those videos and for your Art and sharing words of wisdom that helped me a great deal, your videos mean so much to me and they give me such peace , beauty and tranquility as well as encouragement, I hope and pray you continue to make them ❤ much love and all the best (I was so happy to see a video by you drop !) 🎉
I truly enjoyed this video. I get relaxed when i watch you talk, perhaps because of your calm but also enthusiastic way of speaking, both visually and audibly. Your usual style of videos(the ones with beautiful landscapes and handcrafting, your talk being played in the background) are soothing to me too, and, in a previous video, i saw you said it was cringy to talk to the camera. Still, if you could, i'd really appreciate more of your talking-to-the-camera videos!
I LOVE Frog and Toad! I grew up reading these books. So comforting. I just purchased the collection of Frog and Toad books in one book. I'm still working through the stories. Great pick.
Thank you for sharing and inspiring us as always 😊 I've recently enjoyed sooo much reading Wuthering Heights from Emily Brontë, a cozy and powerful classic
Life is good, isn't it ?!! You are such a beautiful woman and I thank you for continuing to share with all of us. I totally agree that it's so wonderful to read children's books !❤
Sweet Cottage Fairy, I had a collection of books very similar to yours right up until I got married and thought It was something I needed to leave in the past. I so miss my collection of the colored fairy books, My favorites also were Joan Walsh Anglund. Heidi, and my collection of Nancy Drew and Donna Parker. Oh how I long for them. I would absolutely love if your husband could give us a bit of a lesson on how to make your bookcase. My soon to be son-in-law is a master carpenter finisher, and I just know he could build them for me. It's hard to see the construction with the books on them. Thank you so much for all you share! Your collection is so lovely and so you.
I am happy to be the proud owner of some of your artwork. I love them. I think most people have a whimsical side to them. I’m 65 and still have mine. 😊 I think you are a writer as well as an artist and storyteller. ❤
I agree with all the others commenting about your postpartum glow! I loved the video so much I've watched twice! And i loved the little mouse in the intro ❤❤❤
Love when you talk about your love for books ! Plus not only it is ok to be highly sensitive but it is important. In this world where everything is conceived to put you in a state of numbness it is indeed very important.
Sounds like you have a beautiful relationship. Parenting is the most difficult job and I truly admire you. Love from Ireland.

I worked with special needs people, and we had a place called Club Nova, a home away from home. ❤
that is so beautiful ❤
🌟That is truly amazing to hear. The world needs more people like your son!

I also love Where the Crawdads Sing! 😊
Currently reading the book after watching the movie by chance and enjoying it quite a lot :)

You were beautiful before but since the baby came along you have this extra special glow. So glad you're still doing videos!
Came here to say this! What a beautiful glow she possesses now that she has been welcomed into motherhood. 🥹💜💜
I’m so glad she’s back. Never thought I could miss anyone so much that was on u tube. I love her.
💯
Agreed! That glow is very special. And the joy & energy that comes through her, she laughs & smiles so much more...all this despite having many sleepless nights, and feeling tired.
Agree I think she’s such a lovely person. I can imagine her reading many books to her beautiful baby sitting in her rocking chair.

Thank you! I am 68 and feel I am trying to get back in touch with my inner child by revisiting stories I like. Never grow up!
thank you for reminding me .... when you open up a good book, you open the door to a whole new world !
A diverse personality requires an eclectic book list.
Well said.
I loved when you said "Reading is meant be fun, life is meant to be enjoyed." Beautiful 😊❤

I loved revisiting those books when I read them to my son ten years ago...❤
I had a similar set and those books truly changed my life. 💗
Yes!! My book of "Narnia" was so huge, when I read it as a child, it was almost the size of me 😂🤍
Reread during the pandemic and it was perfect

They keep you young at heart, and probably young in general. 😊
Same here! I just wrote a blog post about Little House in the Big Woods! ❤
That colour of green looks lovely on you. I love books too, currently reading Braiding Sweetgrass. 💕
You are such a joy to listen too.. I think my first chapter book "Little Women" had a huge impact on my life..
I've read the Frog and Toad books so many times to my daughter's and preschoolers. Loved this book nook video📗💖
You look so happy. Books are such a wonderful way to view life through someone else’s eyes. Beatrice Potter was also one of my heroines.
❤
Frog & Toad I must have read about 100 times between all four of my kids. Loved those books.
I love Frog and Toad!!
Me, too! Only I had 2 sons!
I read those over & over as a child, too!❤
I really love watching your videos 💛
I loved this video. All the books you talked about are so magical.
I have to appreciate ALL your stories.
Books are the best enjoyment. My first favorite was Harold And The Purple Crayon. That would be a great book to eventually read to your child. ♥️
One of my favs as well. I still have my copy from childhood at age 38 after so many moves to different houses I never let it get away from me
Yay Books!! This for me was a great list of books, I will be seeking out quite a few. Nice to see you and motherhood suits you, you look fantastic!
You are such a bright light and I am so happy I found you 💕
Perhaps your new avenue would be to create a channel pertaining to books and niche in something unique and personal to you. I would love that! I love your being your very refreshing and classical whimsical :)
I needed this… just found out my husband has cancer a few days ago..
Prayers for you and your husband. 😢
My prayers are with you.
@susanmurphy19 I'm So Very Sorry 🙏❤️
Hugs and prayers
🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
I'm a HSP too and found Susan's book so illuminating. I'm an empath too, discovering the difference between the two changed my life. Also love Keats so much. His life was too short.
Motherhood looks beautiful on you! You are so pretty! I absolutely love your choice of books! Kathy Jensen
I read the Traveling Cat Chronicles based on your recommendation and absolutely loved it. Teared up reading it a few times. I love your videos about books. They have so much wisdom to share ❤
I always enjoy your book reviews. Thank you for sharing.
Me too.😊
Being 47 I'm still discovering so many interesting books and hopefully I'd never get tired of it!
My favorite children's book is The Giving Tree. You look radiant and happy. I am so happy for you!
Now we need a tour of your bookshelves! 😊
Thank you so much Paola! I always enjoy your "book talk" videos. 🧡
Lovely Paola! Thank you for the recommendations. I’m adding a few to my TBR list for sure. I do agree-you are never too old to read children’s books!!
Books are such treasures, thank you for sharing your favorites, they do look like very special works !
Blessing your way,
Katrina
I have been so far behind on my reading goal for this year and you inspired me so much to read more comfy and whimsical reads
I adore Alexander McCall Smith's Ladies Detective Series and Zafon's series was amazing ...so many books are coming to mind including books for children but really for all😍❤
Perfect timing! What a beautiful way for me to drift off to sleep than to the voice of Paola sharing her literary treasures… 🌗✨
Same here!😇💤
I love to read too.
Hugs
What! Paola, I just yesterday commented under one of your old videos about how much I love it when you talk about books! Very happy for this video 💗
The Secret Garden. I was in Venice and I would try to sneak peeks behind the iron rod gates into peoples garden. To this day, if I walk by a gate or iron rode gate, I will stretch my neck to peer in 😊😊😊
I do the same thing. 🦋 I loved The Secret Garden.💗
Thank you for this great video. I am a book lover and I love to hear about different genres of books. Your channel is very comforting. God bless you and your family.
Thank you so much. I love all your videos.
Thank you Paola… you look stunning… sending ❤️ to you and your beautiful family . X Dottie
Great pick.
Thank you for sharing and inspiring us as always 😊
I've recently enjoyed sooo much reading Wuthering Heights from Emily Brontë, a cozy and powerful classic
Life is good, isn't it ?!!
You are such a beautiful woman and I thank you for continuing to share with all of us. I totally agree that it's so wonderful to read children's books !❤
I just love watching you discover the gems of motherhood. It is so lovely and heart warming to witness. Thank you always for your authenticity 💖
This video was one of my favorites. Thank you for sharing the "Books." This was one of my favorite videos. I really enjoyed it.
It was so wonderful to see that we share some favorites. Thank you for sharing your list, it was so good!!!
I am happy to be the proud owner of some of your artwork. I love them. I think most people have a whimsical side to them. I’m 65 and still have mine. 😊 I think you are a writer as well as an artist and storyteller. ❤
Thanks for this delightful look at your bookshelf! Children's books are my favorites.
I agree with all the others commenting about your postpartum glow! I loved the video so much I've watched twice! And i loved the little mouse in the intro ❤❤❤
I LOVE this video!!! Im bursting with inspiration! Thank you!!! ❤
Love when you talk about your love for books ! Plus not only it is ok to be highly sensitive but it is important. In this world where everything is conceived to put you in a state of numbness it is indeed very important.
