- Hotchkis weighs and tests a hollow sway bar and solid sway to prove that hollow sway bars can offer the same or better stiffness as solid bars with significantly less weight.

? summit racing , what is your opinion on titan xd cummins 5.0 using a timing chain on a diesel motor ????
I set up a similar test to check a stock sway bar and am seeing different results from one side to the other. Is this to be expected?
Assuming the bar is in new and good condition, and that there are no variables in your test equipment the bar should demonstrate a similar rate for both sides. However there could be variations in the material or build quality of the bar that could affect this.
popular brand? you are allowed to say exactly what it is after all when chevy compares their trucks to ford they dont say "popular truck" they say f150...everyone knows hotchkis is the best. i was hoping to see the difference between two hotchkis bars
Too bad that everything with the Hotchkiss name on it, costs a small fortune.
i am not sure how durable is hollow bar...as i read hollow bar tend to break at one point when to much stress compare to solid bar.........in long run....you cant out run law of physic
There is just something counter intuitive about the results of this test. The weight savings is obvious, but the torsional rigidity results just don't add up...strange that physics thing.
Maybe I can help. The Hotchkis bar is larger in diameter. All things equal the solid bar would be stiffer. Most of the strength comes from the diameter and not from the center mass. Therefore the torsional rigidity can increase while decreasing weight. It is physics and the reason that all driveshafts are sufficiently strong and hollow.
@@terryreese663 in addition to this, the alloy of steel used and the method of construction also makes a difference, hollow or not.
