I miss these videos with Andy & Matt. These two are so funny together and always looked forward to new videos released. The synergy between you two is so entertaining and unmatched.
Whenever I have a terrible day.. I don't drink....I don't smoke....I don't do drugs....I fire up a little Finders Beepers and get my LAUGH on! Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE the old house explores, but your banter kills me every time! Thank you for fixing my terrible days! QUESTION: when you guys were younger, you had a different type of toilet paper? I am the same age as (or a smidge older than) you. But I am from the US. As far as I know, we have only had one type of toilet paper.
The toilet paper referred to was called ‘Izal’. It was just like tracing paper and was impregnated with disinfectant. It was supplied free of charge to local authorities that purchased bulk supplies of hygiene products from the manufacturer who produced it. This meant it was used widely in schools, public building and public toilets in the UK. Anyone here who attended school pre 1980’s will remember it largely because of its unpleasant texture and medicated ‘disinfectant’ smell!
@@FPG_TachtheRipper that sounds TERRIBLE!!! Oh my gosh!!! Thank you for filling me in! You make me very happy that we never had that kind of thing.....sounds like sandpaper is even a better option! hahaha!!
Was feeling a bit down this morning then watched you 2 nutters in action and you brightened my day so thank you for that, I really enjoy watching your videos and being treated to a comedy show.
I lived in a penthouse apartment (well actually it was a top floor flat) but that’s a snob coming out in me😂 on a serious note the difference between the two is that a flat is an English term and an apartment is generally an American term and other than that there is no difference. When you were talking about the Irish lady with the dead daughter you were thinking about Gloria Hunniford and her daughter was Caron Keating who died of breast cancer!
Thank you, really glad you enjoyed the video xx be sure to check out our other 3 channels BEEPER BEEF ruclips.net/user/BEEPERBEEFARMY BEEPER BITS ruclips.net/user/BEEPERBITS BEEPER BOUNCE BACK ruclips.net/channel/UChetQxcJtOVvIfCIhqmbLDA
The distinction between a “ flat” and an “ apartment “ is B*llocks The Little round sink is to boil your clothes and sheets, before we had washers x🤣🐾🥰🐾🥰👍and the “ jiggles” is a spin drier, I can’t believe that Andy doesn’t know what these items are lol he’s old enough xxx
Those ‘warheads’ are fuses for artillery shells (bombs in plain English). Those measurements allow the timing of the detonation to be adjusted (for example, airburst shells). These are almost certainly inert collectibles but always exercise a bit of caution when handling. You have no idea where they came from so there is risk (albeit very, very small) that they could still contain a detonator ;).
Same here, my other half thinks im nuts as im watching and got headphones on and in hysterics lol,,,think Matt was talking about Gloria Hunniford as her daughter Carol passed away and she used to be on Blue Peter.
I have fallen in love with you both, Matt is so hilariously dramatic that he keeps me in tears from laughter, 😂😂😂 !!! Andy , when you look 👀 into the camera, I can not keep my composure 😅😅😅 !!! That look 👀 is the most.
Hi guys, I think that item at 27:30 the 'his Master's voice', could be a vintage duster for cleaning vinyl records. Matt, for goodness sake stop eating bake beans before you go out, poor Andy needs a gas mask! 53:57, that 'radio' if it is one, is amazing! The man's name is Parrell, you can tell because it's the same lettering as the word 'married'. That bible printed in 1835, is in such good condition! Thanks guys, another fun explore! xxx
I used to look after a old man who had a cottage with a copper boiler in the corner and gaslighting around the walls with a old Belfast sink with an cold tap. The flooring was flagstones . He had no heating or mod con. Such a lovely guy and I miss him dearly. Very old school.
Ahhh 31:26! Brings back the memories of infant and junior school when everybody's nightmare was the toilet! It resembled tracing paper but if you used actual tracing paper it was heavenly compared to what we got!!
I am subscribed to three other urbex channels, but y'all are top dog 🐕. I enjoy them a lot, but you two are my number #1. Your style of doing things is unique and unpredictable, just lovely. Another great video Andy and Matt. If you want to know more about the Rasputin watch Royal Mob on Sky. It explains all you need to know about our Royal Family and the Tsars. It has actors telling the story. Channel 4 is 20 years old this year. It aired in Nov 1982. I remember it so well as it was the day my Nan died 😢 The HMV item was to wipe over records to clear them before you played them Andy was right. My dad had one and used it every time as he treasured his records. Love the conversations about farts and bum wiping,, you make me laugh out loud. 💙💙 It was Gloria Hunniford and her daughter Caron Keating who died of Breast Cancer. Jill Dando was the TV presenter who was stabbed on her doorstep and the murder was never solved xx
OUR FAMOUS RCA DOGS In 1899, Francis Barraud, painted a picture of his brother’s dog, “Nipper”, listening intently to a windup Edison-Bell cylinder phonograph. The trademark was registered by Berliner Gramophone for use in the United States on July 10, 1900. In 1929, “His Master’s Voice” trademark was acquired by the Radio Corporation of America. It was the first appearance of a RCA dog “mascot”. The iconic image of the RCA dog “Nipper” became part of the long heritage of the RCA brand and an international symbol of quality and excellence. In 1990, a puppy dog named “Chipper” was added to the RCA dog family. “Nipper” and his companion “Chipper” became the famous “RCA dogs”. The iconic “RCA dogs” image of “Nipper” and “Chipper” symbolizes the long heritage and the warm, youthful energy that is unique to RCA. Listed as one of the Top 10 of Famous Brands of the 20th Century.

A maisonette is like a house on top of a house. A bungalow is single story where as a cottage is two story but is defined by age, style and history. A flat has rooms, an apartment is more open plan and a studio flat is even more open plan. I think that’s right anyway. If you eat your own feet does that make you a cannibal 😂
Here an apartment is in a large building and is rented. The same thing , but bought in full is a condo . then you have a row house ( multiple houses attached) a semi-detached , a detached, etc. In rentals you also have duplexes, triples ect. Many names but really uneccessary lol
The word “apartment" comes from the Italian word "appartamento," used to describe a suite of rooms located in a larger building. Appartamento derives from the verb "appartere," which means to separate. In North America, an apartment refers to any suite of rooms for sleeping, eating and bathing. Flat derives from the Old English (via Proto-Germanic) "flett," “a dwelling, hall, floor, ground." In the 1800s, a flat meant the floor or part of a floor set up as an apartment.
I absolutely loved this place, it may not have had much in it but what there was were gems. What you said about the family bible being passed down the family only it's not it's rotting in a loft, brings home the fact my parents have saved their grandparents, their parents & their own belongings ready for me to pass on but I've had no children & no-one will know the the history of the items or the families if they survive landfill 😭
We used to have a spin dryer, hooking the hose over the edge of the kitchen sink... but it used to dance round the floor so we had to keep rearranging the clothes so they were more balanced inside and it would stand still, either that or shout at it to "pull yourself together and stop showing off ! "
Threw me your intro coz Matt you're usually on the left but today you were on the right lol. Lots of chuckles though throughout. Matt trying to remember Gloria Hunniford Karen Keating and Jill Dando lol. Xx
In America apartments are like residential “compartments” within a huge building. If it’s a bigger (two or three story) apartment, then it’s called a condominium. A “flat” in America is a one-room apartment with no walls. They usually have a bathroom and one big living space. Last time I checked anyway... I’ve owned a house since 2007 🤷🏻♀️
Rasputin was a so called monk. Also all the major Royal families are related to one another. our Royal family changed their name to Windsor during the Great war. love your work guys
It's part of water pump by that big copper boiler the pump filled the cold water tank..the thing in the corner was called the brew house boiler hot water for baths and washing clothes heading back to these times .
Well I haven’t read all the comments yet, but the radio was a short wave from way back. Would love to see that in person! The detonators were so cool! Rasputin was a monk and was introduced to the royal family, and in 1908 he was summoned to the palace of Nicholas and Alexandra during one of their hemophiliac son’s bleeding episodes. Rasputin succeeded in easing the boy’s suffering. I love it when you do explores in my home town 😊

27:38 That is an RCA or His Masters Voice felt record lint and dust brush. Spin the records on the turntable and let the brush go over the grooves to collect the dust so it doesn't get built up on the needle. I wish I had that to go with my old gramophone .
That is not a sink it is the old 'Copper' You heat it up with a fire underneath and would use it for everything from washing clothes to (as my great gran did) boiling your Christmas pudding. I think what you called bulbs are actually old valves most probebly to do wih the radio. The Russian stuff and the radio in the attic, was it a spy lol. The warhead looks like a fuse for munitions maybe artillary.
The gramaphone company created his master's voice. It was a record cleaner. Nipper the dog was born in Bristol and the image was also used for RCA victor
Rasputin was a holy man, Czarina Alexandra kept him around because she believed he made her son Alexei who was a haemophiliac better when he got sick. He was the only one to make Alexei better, where as all the royal doctors had failed. Malicious gossip among the aristocracy told tales that he was the Czarina’s lover, but she was madly in love with her husband Czar Nicholas, so it was idle gossip. But enough to cause problems. The HMV stands for His Masters Voice, it was shortened to HMV when it was bought out. The lady who’s daughter died of breast cancer, is Gloria Hunniford and her late daughter was Karen Keating xx

Herbert Thomas Parrell was born in 1875 and died in 1935. Herbert John died Dec 1986. Had I found that Bible I would have taken it with me and found or tried to find the descendant and given it to them. When you are interested in your family tree there is nothing more special as to actually have something from those who lived so long ago. I have my great grandmother's bible with all the names and if I had been able to get the one belonging to her mother I would have jumped down the stairs even though I can't leave my apartment after breaking my hip and a bone in my leg. I would be soooo happy. I just typed in the name on My Heritage and got the names of his parents and his siblings and his children and I would think they also had children. Sometimes all it takes is a google search to find a family tree even your own.
A flat would be the second floor of a house being renting. An apartment is in a building with other apartments. I grew up living in my grandparents flat.
