Alumni experiences: Cooper & Laura - Purdue Polytechnic

Cooper Burleson (BS Aeronautical Engineering Technology '19, MS Aerospace & Aviation Management '20) and Laura Horsky (BS Computer and Information Technology '01), members of the Purdue Technology Alumni Board, said their studies at Purdue positively impacted their lives in ways they didn't expect. During his sophomore year, Cooper met Mark Polansky, former NASA astronaut and Space Shuttle commander, during an on-campus presentation - and that conversation eventually led to the job Cooper has today, where Polansky is his boss! Laura remembers spending hours and hours in Knoy laboratories doing what felt at the time like tedious group work, learning both the "theoretical and the practical" … but Laura said she now draws on that experience constantly, and it helped shape her career.
