    As someone who has fainted many times, I can confirm how embarassing it is to faint in public; it took me several serious falls to realize it is better to sit down when in danger of fainting, instead of risking a fall.

      @Mike Studmuffin I'm not diabetic, and isn't fainting caused by low A1c, not high A1c? Plus, how do you know it is A1c? It could be any number of other things.

    • @thenataliejune

      Did you by chance lock your knees? This is why most people faint in situations like this. My choir teacher drilled this into our heads because apparently people do it without realizing it. Personally, I'm very grateful I was taught that because I know myself, I definitely would have locked my knees and not even realized. By the way I'm so glad that you are ok. Don't get embarrassed it is life. Try to think of it this way, if it's the worst, most embarrassing thing you ever go through your incredibly lucky. I know its hard, but it makes sense. If it happened when you were a kid in front of your peers that's a different story. Kids,are absolutely cruel to each other it is horrible.

    • @thenataliejune
      @thenataliejune 3 years ago +12

      @kentslocum I was taught not to lock my knees by my choir teacher because it will cause you to faint evetyytime. I think because all your blood pools down and leaves, the brain depleted of oxygen. Ok there is not a chance in hell I explained that medically correct but it sounds good. I am serious about locking your knees though. I'm so grateful that my choir teacher drilled this into our heads. She did because apparently people lock their knees and aren't aware they are doing it. So you have to consciously tell yourself NOT to lock your knees.

      @kentslocum 3 years ago +11

      I know you can faint if you stand for a prolonged period with your knees locked which is common if you’re nervous. While in boot camp it was a common issue that we were continually warned about and yet people still dropped. Even during the graduation with everyone in formation there were people with the only job to pull people out if they gave the slightest indication of fainting. If it wasn’t a health issue, I’d imagine that was the cause

      I was in a wedding party and one of the other groomsmen fainted during the ceremony. Fell back into a garden and just missed his head on a giant rock. I felt bad for him. Pretty traumatic.

      @kietajackson673 OOH WOW 😲! I'm SOOO GLAD they found that out. For a couple of years, my niece was having severe headaches. We kept taking her to the doctor and hospital. They kept saying it was migraines. Until I told my sister to get her 2nd, 3rd, even a 4th opinion if she needed too, until they figure out & give her a CT SCAN OR A MRI on her head. When she finally did, they found a Tumor on her brain the size of a golfball. She had to have surgery. During surgery, she had a stroke. At age 15 she went from a STRAIGHT A HONOR ROLL STUDENT, & GETTING COLLEGES WANTING TO GIVE HER FULL RIDE SCHOLARSHIPS, WITH HER ON THE ROAD TO GRADUATING EARLY, A YEAR AN HALF EARLY AT THAT. She went from that type a child, to a child WHO HAD TO LEARN HOW TO DO EVERYTHING FROM THE BEGINNING. She had to learn how to talk, read, remember our names ( HOW TO SAY OUR NAMES), to remember who we were to her again, she was learning how to walk again, she became a diabetic, she had to wear diapers, & etc. WE LOST HER AT THE AGE 16 💔😢. I'm sorry for the long message. I just want to tell you, ( EVEN THO WE DON'T KNOW EACH OTHER ), I'M SOOO HAPPY THAT YOUR STILL HERE, & THEY FOUND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH YOU! BLESSINGS TO YOU 🙏🏾🙌🏾✝️

      I almost fainted on a Bus going to School. I was standing on the bus for too long plus it was very hot. That was the first day in my life I came closer to fainting. I tried my best to make it unnoticeable, and it was untouchable. Luckily, someone sitting on the seat next to me finally alight and I took the seat and was okay. I never had any problems for standing too long or for walking too long, but I have no idea why I felt they way.

      Mine happened so slow. I was donating blood and the woman kept the tie on the entire time. When she was done, she took it off and there was almost no blood pressure in my arm and it felt like it tookan hour for me to pass out. Everything slowed down to a crawl, it was like there was cotton in my ears, and everything I saw was like static on the tv. I wasn’t able to keep my arm in the air, and the lady who took it seemed annoyed. I looked over at a table where this man was sitting and I’m not sure if I said I was going to pass out or just looked like it. I saw him jumping up from his seat and the next thing I remember was being surrounded on that chair by about 7 people. It was wild.

The first time it happened it was completely out of the blue, but the second time I could sense something was wrong because my eyesight got blurrier and blurrier and I had to hold onto the wall next to me as I walked. The second time I fainted in a staircase at school, so i'm lucky I didn't fall down the stairs but I must've sat down or there were classmates behind me who caught me because they were all there when I woke up and I probably wasn't out for more than a few seconds. And even then congratulated the person at caught her. And didn’t take any offense to it after, that’s what anyone should do, not just the president. Good on him for taking the time to make sure she was ok :)
    Edit- some of these comments on this are disappointing Political views aside, the man did what was right at that point in time. He took time to make sure they young woman was alright and got to proper care. No matter one’s political view we should be able to agree what he did was right.

      @Black0bsidianhe’s right though, it isn’t just because she’s pregnant and diabetic. See it all the time in the military with even the fittest dudes. Standing in one spot for a long time with knees locked, in the sun and heat, dehydrated, it’s just a matter of time. Although she did hang on for a while here, I’ve passed out before and when it happened to me, I’d feel sick for a minute before, then my vision would get blurry and I’d feel like I suddenly had a fever, and 10 seconds later I was on the ground. Impressive how she was fading in and out of consciousness and didn’t drop for a bit 😂

      I think it had a lot to do with racism. There were, unfortunately, way too many people in our country who were angry when former President Obama was elected, and it was absolutely because of his race. Trump is well known to be a racist. There are plenty of instances when he proved that. It's ugly, and disappointing and it's a stain on our country.
      People forget that the way black people got here in the first place was by being kidnapped, shackled, loaded onto ships, and put in the middle of the ship, under the deck, for the entire journey. Many died. Sometimes they'd leave them shackled to another person for days before they removed the body to throw it overboard. The same bucket they sent up with bodily waste was dumped and filled with their drinking water. It was barbaric. This is only a small part of what happened. I suggest everyone research the history, especially racists who would like to see people of color removed, or "kept down," because they think that being white makes them superior. I've known plenty of white people who aren't terribly intelligent or informed, so one could say that there are "superior" people within each race and ethnicity. It shouldn't have to be said, but some people have been taught wrong.

    • @sunburstisland2560
      @sunburstisland2560 4 years ago +6

      I agree we clap to way too many things, like the end of a movie, the people who made it aren't there! But in this case, I actually understand it.
      Whenever someone is sick/hurt during an event, especially sports or music events, when someone comes to help them and takes them away, we clap. You can find some interviews of injured athletes who talk about how they felt hearing an entire stadium clap and cheer for them after they got hurt. Part of it is also in response to medical professionals who come to help or escort someone.
      In this specific case, part is probably on the woman for managing to keep it together for so long (apparently she has type 1 diabetes and was pregnant at the time) and partially for Obama who recognized something was wrong, actually helped hold her instead of just letting the other people or his staff do it, and making a funny comment to make sure she didn't feel bad about "interrupting" and to help keep others from being too worried.

    Disappointed me on a few issues, but a genuinely good and humble man that could make u feel at ease as soon as he walked into a room with his witty sense of humor and charismatic demeanor. A truly eloquent gentleman that made me want to listen to his speeches to their entirety... Miss ya bruh. Enjoyed every time u dropped the MC..

    I remember when i was in the 4th grade one of my classmates fainted during the assembly. He was standing and suddenly fell to the ground and hit his head very hard. That same day another of my classmates had the same thing happened because he was exposed to severe trauma after he saw what happened to his friend. One of the teachers their also fainted the same way. I was literally shaking cause both of the boys who fainted were my friends. Literally alot of students cried ghat day. Luckily the three of them are doing just fine. That was 4 years ago and its still something I wont forget.

      There was talking among those around her and plenty of movement. I'm sure he could hear it behind him and was aware of what was going on. I'm not an Obama fan, but this was a seriously classy move on his part.

      Take the tin foil cap off. You can see the people in the back whispering and that isn't all picked up on the mic. He heard it and turned around. Also, if she was a staffer, he may have known about her conditions.

His wife is also a Infamous for being at a hospital that refused to protect the poor with laws that already existed to make sure that they got care. I can’t support everyone in this video. I care about people too much.

    Back in my Navy days, when we had to stand at attention for long periods of time (in boot camp), we were told to not lock your knees, but keep your knees slightly bent forward. This helps with blood flow and helps prevent fainting. This should be told to folks as in this situation. But, yes President Obama was spot on.

      @JohnSmith-pg9ns He doesn't live "rent free" inside my head, that's for sure. I just like to point out what a colossal failure many of his policies were. Obama was clearly all style and no substance.

    • @Misswiskers4
      @Misswiskers4 4 years ago +34

      @MWayne-zz1cr Mr. Wayne .......you just took what little " substance " and " style " you might have had , and threw it down the drain. I'll leave it to your imagination what " drain" that might be referring to.......

    • @MWayne-zz1cr
      @MWayne-zz1cr 4 years ago +4

      @Misswiskers4 Compared to his soaring oratory and energetic rallies in '08, do you honestly think Obama lived up to the hype? If he was so great, then why did someone like Donald Trump get elected in 2016? There's no question that the Obama presidency was one major disappointment, there is no way to sugarcoat it.
